Kajol reveals why Ibrahim Ali Khan is different from dad Saif Ali Khan: ‘The camera loves both… but'

Kajol is gearing up for her upcoming film 'Sarzameen', where she stars alongside Ibrahim Ali Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is special for many reasons. Not only does it bring together fresh and familiar faces, but it also marks the directorial debut of Kayoze Irani, son of the much-loved actor Boman Irani . 'Sarzameen' is set for an OTT release on 25th July. Kajol opens up about working with Ibrahim In a recent chat with SCREEN, Kajol shared her experience of working with Ibrahim Ali Khan, especially considering her long association with his father, Saif Ali Khan . Kajol and Saif have delivered several memorable films together, and it was only natural to compare father and son. Kajol observed, 'The camera loves both the father and the son. Ibrahim is so inherently good-looking that he doesn't have to say much, just brood in front of the camera, and he is sorted in life. But he is a quieter personality than Saif. I have known Saif for years now, he is bigger and brighter, persona-wise, and always has been. But Ibrahim is going to do well.' Director Kayoze on Ibrahim's first film Kayoze Irani, who is directing his first feature film with 'Sarzameen', also spoke about working with Ibrahim and how both were taking on new challenges. He said, 'Both Ibrahim and I were on a set for the first time, so we worked a lot on the film. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo We gave him six months of prep, and I am extremely happy with how it has turned out. Kajol on handling scrutiny Kajol also shared her thoughts on how the film industry and audiences judge newcomers, whether they belong to film families or not. She said, 'People are quick to judge everybody, whether they come from a film family or not. Right now, whoever is coming on screen has to be prepared for the criticism and for the credit or no credit that they will be faced with. That's part and parcel of what you signed up for when you do movies. It's something you have to be prepared for, and I think they are prepared for it. I don't see anybody being cowed down by it or saying this is unfair or anything like that.'

Express Film Club screens Jaaved Jaaferi's Inn Galiyon Mein, director talks about how censor board refused to pass it

This Monday, the Express Film Club by SCREEN continued its monthly tradition of spotlighting lesser-known but cinematically profound films with a screening of Inn Galiyon Mein, a light-hearted romantic comedy directed by Avinash Das. Kajol reveals Ibrahim Ali Khan is a ‘quieter personality' than dad Saif Ali Khan, will be ‘sorted in life' even if he doesn't speak much on camera

Actor Kajol will soon be seen with Ibrahim Ali Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the film Sarzameen. The film also marks the feature directorial debut of Boman Irani's son Kayoze; it will be released on Jio Hotstar on 25th July. Ahead of its release, Kajol spoke to SCREEN and shared what it was like to work with Ibrahim Ali Khan, especially after she had worked with his father, Saif Ali Khan, in several films. Both Kayoze and Kajol also shared their views on the scrutiny that children of stars face today. Talking about how different Ibrahim is to his father, Kajol said, 'The camera loves both the father and the son. Ibrahim is so inherently good-looking that he doesn't have to say much, just brood in front of the camera, and he is sorted in life. But he is a quieter personality than Saif. I have known Saif for years now, he is bigger and brighter, persona-wise, and always has been. But Ibrahim is going to do well.' We gave him six months of prep, and I am extremely happy with how it has turned out. He is a good kid; the camera just loves him. I think he is made for this.' Discussing if kids from film families often have to deal with higher expectations, Kayoze said, 'The expectations are high and they should live up to those expectations. People give their time and money to watch you, so you have to be outstanding, so why not have those expectations? With Ibrahim, we put in a lot of effort and did as much as we could. I also come from a background of privilege, but we put in our 1000 percent effort in doing it right.' Kajol also added, 'People are quick to judge everybody, whether they come from a film family or not. Right now, whoever is coming on screen has to be prepared for the criticism and for the credit or no credit that they will be faced with. That's part and parcel of what you signed up for when you do movies. It's something you have to be prepared for, and I think they are prepared for it. I don't see anybody being cowed down by it or saying this is unfair or anything like that.' Kajol was last seen in the horror-thriller Maa, which was produced by Ajay Devgn. The film received mixed reviews and performed modestly at the box office. Rajeev Khandelwal On Why He Quit Kahiin Toh Hoga: "People Thought I Locked Horns With Ekta For My Ego"

New Delhi: Rajeev Khandelwal, who became a household name after he featured as Sujal Grewal in the Ekta Kapoor prime-time show Kahiin Toh Hoga, revealed why he left the show at the peak of his career. Rajeev shared he was offered a fat pay cheque when he informed the producers about his decision. But he refused the money as he was desperately looking for an improved "quality" of the show. What's Happening In a recent interview with SCREEN's "Dear Me...", Rajeev recalled how he took the decision of quitting the show. People's love, which made him a star, also became a deterrent factor for him leaving the show. "When I quit the show, it was only because I couldn't handle it. People loved me so much, and I thought I was not giving them back in terms of quality. That thinking of me being that for them was not working with me. After the character, I did not pick up any character that was similar to Sujal. I didn't want to be known as this romantic guy who was brooding. So I picked up a series called Time Bomb. I was being offered romantic characters in bulk. My well-wishers were telling me to buy one more house, a few cars, by playing such roles. I did Time Bomb, and it did not work; the same people who wrote big stories about me also wrote about my mighty fall with the same gusto," Rajeev shared. Rajeev Khandelwal added, "People wrote things like, 'he has become too big for his boots', but nobody knew the truth. What came across was that I locked horns with Ekta, that I am leaving her, and I must be thinking that I have arrived. I quit the show at its peak, refused the money, the popularity, so many thought I was egoistic. After I quit Left Right Left, I also knew I was not going to be offered much work in TV now. I realised no producer would give me work." Recalling how he was offered a hefty pay cheque, Rajeev said, "I had a lot of fights with the producers; nobody would be happy when you walk out of a show when it's doing well. When I was walking out of Kahiin toh Hoga, I went to Shobha (Kapoor) aunty, at that time, asking to leave the show was perceived as the actor wanted more money, which was also offered to me. They said they will increase my remuneration, and I said reduce it, but give me quality." About Kahiin Toh Hoga Headlined by Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Sharif, Kahiin Toh Hoga aired on television from September 2003 to February 2007. The show was created by Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms. In A Nutshell
