LSU baseball trounces Xavier in final game before conference play

LSU baseball put on a hit parade Tuesday night as the Tigers scored a season-high 18 runs and trounced Xavier 18-4. LSU put up seven runs in the bottom of the first thanks to a Jared Jones two-run shot, a Danny Dickinson homer, a Jake Brown RBI single, a Chris Stanfield RBI single, and a Derek Curiel RBI double to give LSU a 7-0 lead. William Schmidt got the start of the mound, but he only pitched one inning. After getting such a huge lead, LSU decided to call Jaden Noot out of the bullpen. In the bottom of the second inning, LSU tacked on three more runs as Brown hit an RBI single and Luis Hernandez hit a two-RBI single. After two innings, LSU was up 10-0. LSU baseball runs ruled Nicholls in Monday night win

The rain could not prevent the matchup between LSU baseball and Nicholls this week. As a bonus, the hometown kid, William Schmidt got his first start on the mound. After a seven-inning run rule, Schmidt would be credited with his first win as a starter as the Tigers took the game 13-3. The Colonels wasted no time putting pressure on him as they scored a run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to make it 1-0. In the bottom of the first, the Tigers roared their way out into the lead as Daniel Dickinson hit an RBI single, Cade Arrambide walked with bases loaded, and Stephen Milam hit a two-RBI single to make it 4-1 Tigers. In that stretch, he gave up one earned and one unearned run on five hits, three strikeouts, and no walks. A solid start for the talented Freshman and thanks to the Tigers getting a run rule he earned the first win of his career! He gave up the second run on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-2. DJ Primeaux entered to pitch for him and he got the Tigers out of the inning. How to Watch Oklahoma Softball this weekend

The Oklahoma Sooners are looking to continue their undefeated start to the season in the Norman Tournament at the opening weekend at Love's Field. The Sooners will host Tulsa, Wichita State, Bowling Green, and Abilene Christian Saturday through Monday in a weekend that saw alterations to the schedule due to the winter storm that came through Oklahoma last week. The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners have been led by two-time SEC Player of the Week Ella Parker, hitting an incredible .647 through 10 games with three home runs, 14 RBIs, seven doubles, and six walks. Parker has put her in the National Player of the Year discussion. Oklahoma has also received significant contributions from newcomers like transfers Abby Dayton, Ailana Agbayani, and SEC Pitcher of the Week Sam Landry. But the Sooners top-ranked incoming freshman class has started their OU careers off with a bang. Freshman Sydney Barker is tied with Parker in home runs and RBIs. Fellow freshman Audrey Lowrey has had two scoreless appearances against San Diego State and Hofstra to start the season. If Oklahoma can avoid an upset this weekend, the Sooners can climb back into the No. 1 spot in the nation after the Texas Longhorns lost to Stanford on Friday.
