Etihad Airways and SF Airlines sign cargo joint business agreement to expand global air freight network
The joint business will provide Etihad Airways and SF Airlines customers with greater access to new destinations and expanded service offerings, strengthening trade and logistics links between the Middle East, China and beyond. The Joint Business Agreement underscores both airlines' commitment to innovation, customer service excellence and strengthening air cargo infrastructure. Munich: Etihad Airways and SF Airlines, China's leading air cargo carrier, have signed a Joint Business Agreement (JBA) to enhance their cargo operations, expand network capacity and offer customers greater flexibility and service options. The agreement was signed today by Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Airways and Li Sheng, Vice President of SF Group and Chairman of SF Airlines. Through the agreement, Etihad Airways and SF Airlines will collaborate on a metal-neutral basis to jointly market and integrate their airfreight services. The partnership is designed to foster incremental growth and create a seamless, shared network that offers customers an expanded range of destinations, increased cargo capacity and enhanced service efficiency. As part of the JBA, Etihad Airways and SF Airlines will enhance customer choice by expanding network connectivity and capacity across key trade lanes. The partnership enables coordinated pricing strategies and alignment of service standards, delivering a streamlined and competitive offering. First-ever cargo flight from China lands at Islamabad airport

According to Express News, the first cargo flight from Urumqi, operated by SF Airlines, arrived at Islamabad Airport carrying over 25 tons of goods. The Chinese delegation was warmly welcomed by Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Airport Manager Aftab Gilani. In a statement, Aftab Gilani highlighted that two cargo flights will operate weekly, with the possibility of further expansion in the future while emphasizing that this initiative will strengthen trade relations between Pakistan and China, two countries with long-standing ties. Gilani also mentioned that the commencement of cargo flights would not only boost trade but also lead to an increase in cargo throughput charges, resulting in a significant rise in revenue for the Pakistan Airport Authority. This development is expected to enhance connectivity between Pakistan and China, further facilitating the movement of goods and strengthening economic collaboration between the two nations.

Chinese firm launches Urumqi-Islamabad air cargo route to strengthen trade with Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: A new air cargo route linking Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Islamabad has been operationalized by SF Airlines, a subsidiary of one of China's largest logistics and courier companies, Pakistani state media reported on Wednesday. China and Pakistan share deep economic and strategic ties, with both countries working together on business and trade initiatives. While large-scale projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) remain central to economic cooperation, both governments have encouraged private-sector-led initiatives to strengthen bilateral trade. 'The Urumqi-Islamabad route is the first all-cargo route launched by SF Airlines in Xinjiang to Pakistan,' the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported. 'It will carry cross-border e-commerce goods and other products, said the air cargo carrier,' the report continued. 'Two round-trip flights are scheduled to shuttle between Urumqi and Islamabad every week on this cargo route, providing more than 110 tons of air transport capacity weekly.' The new air cargo route reflects a growing effort to enhance connectivity, particularly in e-commerce, logistics and cross-border trade. China's e-commerce sector has expanded rapidly, with cross-border trade becoming a major driver of its economy. In 2023, China's e-commerce imports and exports reached 2.38 trillion yuan ($328.3 billion), up 15.6 percent from the previous year, according to official Chinese data. SF Airlines has played a key role in supporting this boom, operating a fleet of 89 all-cargo freighters that transport goods across domestic and international markets.
