SIPITANG: Sabah Electricity (SE), in collaboration with the Special Project Team for Sabah Electricity Supply (PPKBES) under the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (Petra), has completed the Sabah side of the 275kV transmission grid interconnection project linking Sabah and Sarawak. It's Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Yaakob Jaafar, said construction on the Sabah section was completed in September 2024, and efforts are ongoing to finish the Sarawak side soon. The project scope includes a 7-kilometre stretch of high-voltage 275kV transmission towers and lines, connecting the Main Intake Substation (PMU) in Mengalong here to the Sarawak border. "Once operational, the Sabah-Sarawak interconnection will initially transmit 30MW of electricity daily, with the potential to scale up to 300MW," he said on Wednesday. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
