Pete Davidson Uncovers a Retirement Community Serial Killer in ‘The Home' Trailer
Pete Davidson is making his horror debut with the latest thriller from 'The Purge' creator James DeMonaco. After starring in killer comedy 'Bodies Bodies Bodies,' Davidson fully leans into the genre with DeMonaco's 'The Home' which is set in a retirement community. Davidson plays a rebellious twentysomething who is sentenced to community service at the seemingly-quiet nursing home. However, the residents on the fourth floor are strictly off-limits due to their 'special care' procedures. As the logline teases, 'as his suspicions grow and he digs deeper, he uncovers a chilling secret that puts both the residents' lives and his own in grave danger.' John Glover and Bruce Altman also star. DeMonaco directs from a script he co-wrote with Adam Cantor. 'Joining me is my Staten Island brother, Pete Davidson, who unveils a darker, dramatic side as his character navigates a bizarre group of residents in an old age home. The growing tension culminates in an epic blood-soaked finale, designed to leave audiences gasping, terrified, and cheering. I can't wait for everyone to visit The Home. Cover your eyes, folks.' 'The Home' is produced by Bill Block and Sebastien K. Lemercier. In addition to 'The Home,' Davidson recently has appeared in 'Riff Raff' and is set to star in 'The Pickup' alongside Eddie Murphy. Davidson also returned to 'Saturday Night Live' for the 'SNL50' event earlier this year; the actor starred on the sketch series from 2014 to 2022. 'I think I was very lucky to get my own own video [during the 'SNL50' special],' Davidson told Variety. 'There's 1,000 cast members and hundreds that are more popular and did better work than I did while I was there. I was just very grateful to be in a sketch and have a video and even just be invited. It was very surreal to see.' Davidson added, 'I know I was there for almost a decade but even when I came back and hosted, I was like, 'Wow, I do know all these guys.' I know [creator] Lorne [Michaels], I know most of the cast. It just hits different when you see, like, Meryl Streep doing a sketch. And I also know it was a bunch of people who were in nothing so I'm just very grateful. It was a really surreal moment, and I'm happy that it went well for Lorne and just for the history and the integrity of the institution.' He added that Michaels, who executive produced Davidson's meta Peacock series 'Bupkis,' was a father figure to him. Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions will co-release 'The Home' in theaters July 25. Aubrey Plaza makes powerful red carpet comeback five months after Jeff Baena's death at 2025 Cannes closing; watch pics
Aubrey Plaza is slowly returning to the spotlight months after the tragic death of her husband and filmmaker Jeff Baena, who left her shaken. The Parks and Recreation star has largely kept out of major events, but on May 24, she returned to the red carpet for her upcoming film, Honey Don't!, walking alongside her co-stars in a floor-length dress. This marks her first major public appearance since she stepped out to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, where she paid a quiet tribute to her late husband in a tie-dye shirt on stage, one of his most popular designs. Also read: Indie filmmaker Jeff Baena, Aubrey Plaza's husband, found dead at Los Angeles home te amo aubrey plaza te amo — ticia (@hahnxplaza) May 23, 2025 Ahead of the 78th film festival's closing ceremony, Plaza joined co-stars Margaret Qualley and Charlie Day in a simple yet elegant outfit. No over-the-top couture drama unlike her previous looks, she went for a lacy, sleeveless nude gown, covered in colourful beads and stones, transparent at the bottom. Underneath, she styled a white bodysuit that complemented the sheer fabric. For the makeup, she kept it minimal, no hair accessories, and just a pair of diamonds dangling by the ears. Post the screening of her movie, the actor was seen interacting with the guests and even posed confidently for the camera, though she avoided giving a speech afterwards. But this red carpet appearance wasn't just about fashion—it marked her powerful yet emotional return to the spotlight after the loss of Baena, who died by suicide in January at the age of 47. Also read: Jeff Baena texted Aubrey Plaza three hours before his death amid reported separation, made 'concerning remarks' aubrey plaza after the screening of honey don't — evil hag media (@evilhagmedia) May 24, 2025 Plaza and Baena were together for over a decade. However, in the days leading up to his death, it was reported that the couple had been separated for nearly four months at the time. An investigation launched to uncover the reason behind Baena's suicide included a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner that confirmed Baena was struggling emotionally and had even started undergoing therapy. In fact, back in October 2024, he made some concerning comments over a phone call and text messages to Plaza, leading her to call a friend to check in on him. On January 3, a house help found Baena unresponsive in his Los Angeles-area home, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Plaza broke her silence on January 6: 'This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support,' she said in a statement, and added, 'Please respect our privacy during this time.' Later, during SNL 50, Plaza was invited to introduce Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard for a special performance. Later, appearing on Drew Barrymore's show, Plaza opened up a bit about their love story that blossomed during the quarantine. 'Jeff got really into tie-dyeing during the quarantine. So, I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pyjamas that he had made for us,' she said. Baena was known for films like Life After Beth (2014) and The Little Hours (2017). Now, Plaza is easing back into work mode. Honey Don't!, her new film, tells the story of an investigator from a small town and stars uncovering a mysterious case of deaths tied to a church. The film was selected for the premieres.

Detroit-based Shinola no longer making bicycles, once a core part of its identity
Detroit-based Shinola has stopped manufacturing and selling bicycles, which were once a core part of the brand's offerings. The last of the stock sold out in March 2025, a Shinola representative confirmed, and there aren't plans to restock at this time. "Shinola bikes have been a part of our brand DNA for years, and helped us make our mark in the design space," Shinola said in an emailed statement. "At this time, Shinola is committed to doubling down on our watch assortment," the company said, pointing to its recent partnership with the J Dilla estate to create limited-edition watches. When Shinola was founded in 2011 in Detroit, bicycles, which retailed for as much as $3,000, were one of the brand's core products, along with watches and leather goods. Later, it expanded with other products such as headphones and opened a hotel in downtown Detroit in 2019. Four years ago during the pandemic, a Shinola executive told the Detroit Free Press that the company saw an uptick in sales in bicycles, and that Shinola was refocusing on core products as it looked ahead to the brand's next decade. However, Shinola said it isn't closing the door on bikes completely. "Whilst we might not have Shinola bikes currently, it doesn't mean they might not be back in the future, as there are a lot of exciting developments to come in 2025 and beyond," Shinola said in the statement. ‘Saturday Night Live' Highlights: Scarlett Johansson Earns Her Roses During the'SNL 50′ Finale
As huge as 'Saturday Night Live' has been this season with the celebration of its 50th year on air, there was something quaint about its finale bringing in not only one of its staple hosts over the last decade and change, but also wife to one of the show's integral members, Colin Jost. Was there a touch of favoritism in bringing Scarlett Johansson in to host the 'SNL 50' finale? Perhaps, but it was all quickly forgotten once ScarJo took the stage for her monologue and chose to offer focus on the main cast, all of whom have put in some of their best work yet this season. It wasn't an earth-shattering, all-timer monologue like the one that came from Jack Black a few episodes prior, but it was a beautiful gesture and one that set the tone for the rest of the evening to come. As she has before, Johansson blended in seamlessly with the cast, highlighting how 'SNL' is not a place for show-boating, but instead, keeping up. In the episode's first pre-taped bit — one of the few 'Please Don't Destroy' videos produced this season — she not only keeps up, but makes the whole sketch come together by embracing the oblivious sensibility these bits seem to hone in on. What's more, the humor of the video taps into the zeitgeist in a way 'Please Don't Destroy' doesn't always make a priority. Though not as timely as Season 2 of Nathan Fielder's 'The Rehearsal,' the sketch makes light of recent issues surrounding commercial aviation, particularly when it comes to landing or flying out of Newark airport. More from IndieWire Everything Coming to Hulu and Disney+ in June Matthew Weiner and 'Hacks' Creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky to Mentor AFI 2025 Writers' Room Ready Program With Bad Bunny on as musical guest, we knew we would be getting at least one sketch with the talented actor/singer, and it certainly did not disappoint. Pitting Bunny and cast member Marcello Hernandez opposite one another as whipped men forced to fight each other due to their over-the-top female companions (Johansson and Ego Nwodim), this bit showed how far 'SNL' has come in terms of expanding its audience. A bilingual sketch is not new in any way, but it stood out for its use of subtitles — an option that might not be available in most live circumstances when comedy is performed. It proved the unique space 'Saturday Night Live' remains, and it was fortunately also was laugh-out-loud hilarious. She's baaaaaaack. Miss Eggy may just be our new favorite character to come out of 'SNL 50' (Sorry, Domingo). Though her return for the finale may not top the introduction that earned her an FFC fine, Nwodim brought the house down with her food-related jokes and Def Jam-style delivery. Do we smell an Emmy nom in her future? You better believe it buster. For a live bit later in the night, Johansson got to have a little fun with some of her own history by taking aim at the tasteless entertainment journalists she's had to endure over the course of her career. With her and Bowen Yang taking on the role of said press members, the two hurl insulting and invasive questions at female 'SNL 50' cast members performing as talent for a soon-to-be-released feature. The only one not to receive these probing queries was the male actor of the group, played by Hernandez — a signal to the reality of many unfair and misogynistic habits of the press.
