SCCI celebrate 26 partakers graduating from 'Business Leadership'
Held under the theme "Begin Your Successful Leadership Journey", the programme was organised by the Sharjah Training and Development Centre (STDC) affiliated with the Chamber, in cooperation with the Spain-based University of Salamanca. It focused on equipping participants with advanced methodologies to foster sustainable leadership, draft strategic plans and innovative solutions in work environments, and cultivate future-oriented organisational cultures. The ceremony was attended by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; Mohammad Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI; and Maryam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for the Support Services Sector at SCCI, along with representatives from the participating government entities. The second edition of the programme attracted high-potential talents from both government and private sectors. Its training modules covered key areas, including business psychology, artificial intelligence (AI) in next-generation institutional leadership, design thinking in challenge management, innovative strategy development, risk management techniques, creative institution design, and organisational innovation. In his remarks, Abdallah Sultan Al Owais said that the Strategic Business Leadership Programme aims to produce a new cadre of qualified leaders, reflecting the fundamental shifts in institutional leadership concepts. 'Digital technologies require unconventional leadership capabilities. Accordingly, the Sharjah Chamber adopts an advanced leadership development framework focused on adaptability and continuous growth, equipping leaders to merge practical experience with contemporary management knowledge,' he added. For her part, Maryam Saif Al Shamsi n oted that the programme was designed to offer a comprehensive educational experience combining theoretical content with applied practice. It featured workshops led by accredited international experts and practical capstone projects. She added that the programme concluded with a field study tour to Spain in collaboration with the University of Salamance, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore global best practices and gain hands-on experience and global insights that will enhance their careers and strengthen their leadership skills. The graduation ceremony featured a visual presentation outlining the programme's milestones and the comprehensive training offered to participants. The programme integrated academic insights from renowned global institutions with hands-on learning through workshops and project work. This approach underscored the programme's value in equipping participants with both theoretical expertise and practical leadership competencies. The ceremony concluded with Abdallah Sultan Al Owais and Maryam Saif Al Shamsi honouring the programme's participants, representing the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) and other government and private entities operating in Sharjah. Participants were awarded the 'Certified Internal Consultant' certificate, formally recognising their entry into Sharjah's distinguished community of business leaders and strategic decision-makers.

Selangor invests RM16m yearly in TVET to empower youth, boost skills
SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government is committing RM16 million each year to enhance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiatives, aiming to uplift youth, including those from the Indian community. State executive councillor for Human Resources and Poverty Eradication, V. Papparaidu, confirmed the funding covers sponsorships at institutions like the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC). Programmes under the Malaysian Skills Certificate, Professional Skills Certificate, and Short-Term Skills Courses are included in the initiative. Papparaidu noted that STDC produces 1,200 to 1,500 graduates annually across various fields, with equal opportunities for all eligible Selangor residents. 'Indian youths make up 30 to 40 percent of STDC applicants yearly, showing growing family support and peer inspiration from successful graduates,' he said during the Selangor state assembly sitting. The response came after Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim (PH–Kota Damansara) inquired about state efforts to expand Indian youth participation in TVET. Beyond sponsorships, the RM16 million allocation supports TVET module development and partnerships with local and international institutions. 'This strengthens the TVET ecosystem, ensuring trainees meet industry demands,' Papparaidu added. The state has also allocated over RM15 million for Indian community-specific programmes, including RM4.43 million for Deepavali shopping vouchers benefiting 22,150 B40 recipients. - Bernama

STDC playing key role in affordable power supply: Minister
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Energy, Development, and Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, presided over a high-level meeting of the Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC) to review key energy sector projects. STDC CEO Saleem Shaikh gave a detailed briefing on the progress of ongoing projects. The energy minister stated that STDC is playing a vital role in ensuring the supply of affordable electricity, which will benefit not only domestic consumers but also industrial units. He added that STDC is working on various projects to ensure uninterrupted power supply to industrial areas, which will provide relief to industrialists and help stabilize the economy. Syed Nasir Hussain Shah further informed the meeting that STDC will coordinate with the Water Corporation regarding the electricity component of the K-IV Water Project, and that the project's grid and transmission line will be completed by June 2026. He highlighted that 100 MW of electricity is being continuously supplied from the Nooriabad Power Plant, and that STDC is providing round-the-clock power to K-Electric through the K-IV transmission line. The minister termed the performance of the Nooriabad transmission line satisfactory. The meeting was attended by Energy Secretary Mushtaq Soomro, STDC CEO Saleem Shaikh, Umar Nawaz Shaikh, Sajjad Junejo, Tariq Saeed, and other officials. Additionally, the meeting approved a pay raise for STDC employees. The minister directed that, in line with the Sindh government's policy, lower-grade employees should receive a higher increment compared to officers to provide greater relief to low-income staff. Fortifying Selangor's water security, boosting skills

The first MOC, signed with Universiti Selangor (Unisel) and Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC), aims to build a future-ready workforce through structured upskilling and reskilling programmes, career pathway development and technical training initiatives. The second MOC, signed with property developer Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd (CSSB), focuses on enhancing long-term water security in Pulau Indah, Klang where the company is spearheading major development projects. Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the collaborations aimed at enhancing technical training, boosting employability among youth and ensuring long-term water security for Selangor's rapidly developing industrial zones. He said the partnership between Air Selangor, Unisel and STDC would set out a framework for water management. 'Priority to enrol for the courses or programmes will be given to Air Selangor employees and vendors. 'The initiative includes industrial training placements, structured guidance, and real-world learning opportunities that enhance graduate employability. 'The opportunity to work with organisations such as Air Selangor will provide students with exposure that adds immense value to their learning, making the education process more relevant and future- oriented,' he said at the MOC signing ceremony at Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant in Hulu Langat, Selangor. On the MOC with Central Spectrum, the developer of Selangor BioBay Industrial Park in Pulau Indah, Amirudin said the aim was to implement sustainable alternative water supply solutions for industrial and commercial needs in the area. He said Pulau Indah was set to undergo major transformation that would see investments in critical infrastructure such as a Water Reclamation Plant, Seawater Desalination Plant and In-situ Desalination Plant. As such, it was crucial to ensure uninterrupted water access for high-tech sectors including manufacturing, research and development, and biotechnology, he said. 'Water is a fundamental component in any major development, especially for projects like Selangor BioBay, which demand a reliable and sustainable supply to attract local and international investors,' he added. Air Selangor chief executive officer Adam Saffian Ghazali said the MOCs represented a significant step in creating a holistic and sustainable water industry ecosystem. 'Our collaboration with Unisel and STDC will benefit not just Air Selangor, but the water supply services sector as a whole. 'The partnership with Central Spectrum will focus on long-term water security solutions for Pulau Indah through a joint steering committee that will oversee the planning and implementation of alternative water supply initiatives. 'These efforts will propose practical, sustainable water solutions to support the growing demands in Pulau Indah, particularly in industrial zones under its development,' he said.

SEHC achieves revenue target of Rs113m for FY25: minister
KARACHI: Sindh Provincial Minister for Energy, Development, and Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, has stated that the Sindh Energy Holding Company of the Sindh Energy Department has achieved its revenue target of Rs 113 million for the current financial year, while a target of Rs 266 million has been set for the upcoming financial year 2025-26. He expressed these views today while presiding over a high-level meeting of the Sindh Energy Holding Company (Limited). The meeting was attended by Sindh Energy Department Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Soomro, Additional Secretary Zain-ul-Abideen, MD Thar Coal Energy Board Tariq Ali Shah, CEO STDC Saleem Ahmed Shaikh, Senior GM Technical STDC Taqi Saeed, and other relevant officials. On the occasion, Tufail Ahmed Khoso briefed the meeting and informed that as a result of investments made by the company, it will continue to earn an annual profit of Rs 250 million for four years. The energy minister was further informed that in 2023-24 the company invested Rs 34 million in the oil and gas sector, while in 2024-25, Rs 105 million were invested — meaning a 209% increase compared to last year. Nasir Shah directed that the Sindh Energy Holding Company should only invest in those oil and gas sectors where profits are guaranteed. He further instructed that a summary of proposals regarding SEHC should be prepared for the Chief Minister of Sindh so that future steps and planning can proceed in accordance with the Chief Minister's directives.
