Ink in the Alley returns to Hattiesburg this June

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – Hattiesburg's Saenger Theater, the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum, and FestivalSouth are bringing back Ink in the Alley on June 7 as a part of the FestivalSouth programming for 2025. According to organizers, Ink in the Alley highlights the art of tattooing featuring local and out-of-state tattoo artists. 'This is the second year of Ink in the Alley,' said Wes Pilgrim, Saenger Event and Sales Coordinator. 'But this year we are introducing an entirely new aspect, which is the application of tattoos in a live setting where people can watch artists applying tattoos in real time. This is a unique opportunity for tattoo novices and enthusiasts alike to observe all things related to the art of tattoo design and application.' The second annual Ink in the Alley will be held June 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and there is no fee for guests to participate unless they purchase a flash tattoo or are participating in the on-stage live tattooing. Hattiesburg gears up for 2025 Craft Beer Festival Saenger Theater On-Stage Tattoo Artists There will be two featured artists on the Saenger Theater stage who will be live tattooing clients. The two featured artists are Brandi Bruce, Swampwater Tattoo Shop (New Orleans) and Samantha Varner, Lady Luck Tattoo Shop (Hattiesburg). Saenger Theater Flash Tattoos There will be seven artists offering flash tattoos. Flash tattoo artists are Jess Keuspert (Hattiesburg Tattoo), Mannie Anderson (Ink Company Tattoos), Anthony Washington (Ink Company Tattoos), Robbie Wilson (Lady Luck Tattoo), Anna Foley (Lady Luck Tattoo), Mark Carithers (Marked Tattoos) and Courtney Collete (Inkk Culture Tattoo). Guests at the event can choose from several flash tattoo options being offered by each artist. Flash tattoos are priced independently by each artist. Pocket Alley Artists Additionally, there will be fourteen alley artists who will showcase their work, sell art/stickers, book appointments for future tattoos. These artists will not perform any live tattoos on-site. A bar with light concessions will be available, and DJ Miss Demure will be spinning tunes. A tattoo contest will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot adjacent to the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum Alley. There will be three judges and winners in five categories which will be, Best American Traditional Tattoo, Best Tribal Tattoo, Best Anime Tattoo, Best Arm/Leg Sleeve and Most Unusual Tattoo. The 2025 NFL Honors show will be held at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans on Thursday, Feb. 6. NFL Honors will be hosted by Snoop Dogg with the show set to air live at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT (the program will not air live in all time zones). While many football fans will gather all afternoon and well into the evening on Sunday to watch Super Bowl LIX, others may find themselves wondering what to do when most eyes will be glued to a TV. We compiled a list of things to do in Hattiesburg on Sunday if you're not up for taking in the game. Note that some of the activities end Sunday afternoon. Stroll along Main Street or visit some of the area's popular features like the Pocket Museum in the alley next to the historic Saenger Theater. Wander down to Mobile Street (via Front Street if you're looking for lunch or dinner) and stop in The Lucky Rabbit in the afternoon for a look at some vintage and novelty items you might want to add to your collection. Across the street from The Lucky Rabbit you can get refreshed in the afternoon at Southern Prohibition Brewing Co., which is a family-friendly brewery and restaurant. Pokémon GO fans often are spotted meandering downtown to hunt for virtual critters that might be lurking in the area.
