‘Fingerprints of Saif's attacker found at site, he's a flight risk'

Mumbai: Strongly opposing the bail plea of Shariful Islam, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national accused in the alleged housebreaking and assault on actor Saif Ali Khan, the prosecution submitted that the arrested accused's left-hand fingerprints were found at the crime scene. The reply submitted on Thursday also referred to a facial recognition test. Earlier, the police confirmed that the face of the accused matched the image captured in CCTV footage from Khan's residence. The prosecution said releasing the accused on bail could lead to him fleeing to Bangladesh and influencing witnesses. . "If the applicant-accused is released on bail, the possibility of him repeatedly committing such crimes cannot be ruled out," the reply said. The accused was arrested on Jan 19, and during interrogation, it was allegedly revealed he is a Bangladeshi citizen who illegally entered India. He is accused of grievously injuring Khan, his employee, and another witness with a deadly weapon, with the intent to cause death during the early hours of Jan 16. The plea will come up for hearing on August 1. This is the second time Islam sought bail. Islam iterated that he was falsely implicated. Calling the FIR the complainant's imaginary story, his bail plea said that even if the statements of witnesses are taken as gospel truth, without admitting anything on record, for the sake of arguments, then also it won't be able to fulfil the ingredient of Section 311 of BNS. The section deals with the offence of robbery or dacoity with an attempt to cause death or grievous hurt. The plea also said that he was in jail for seven months and there was no likelihood of the trial commencing soon. "That the investigation agency arrested a different person in this crime on the basis of the said CCTV footage and later on relying on the same CCTV footage the investigation agency conveniently arrested the present applicant," the plea said.

Vidya Balan recalls doing an intimate scene with an actor who had Chinese and didn't brush: 'Do you not have a partner?'

Vidya Balan has just completed 20 years in the industry. The actress made her debut with 'Parineeta' which starred her opposite Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt. In a recent interview, the actress was asked if she's got any practical advice as an actor or things that she takes care of before every scene or a making an appearance. The actress responded and said that as women, generally one takes care of their teeth, nose, basic hygiene and how they're smelling. But that reminded her of an old incident. She said during this chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, "I've had an actor who had chinese, he didn't brush and I had an intimate scene with him." She further laughed, "I said in my head, 'do you not have a partner?' I didn't offer mints, I was too new, too scared." In the same interview, Vidya spoke about not being insecure as an actor and being quite optimistic always. She said, "I think I am shamelessly optimistic. I have so much self-belief. I have put myself out there at my biggest and not batted an eyelid. I've had people tell me I should work on myself, that I should shed weight. But I actually believe there is nothing wrong with me. And I think that is a great attitude because it helped me sail through. I was still playing the lead, so I don't think those kinds of insecurities have ever weighed me down." The actress further spoke about her current state of mind and said, "For the first time in my life, I am not experiencing stress. Knowingly or unknowingly, we go through a lot of stress. I am enjoying this period. I am reading scripts, meeting people, and I have decided on two films. Unfortunately, I am not able to talk about it right now."

Real Time Actionable Insights For Personalisation In the Age of AI: ETBWS 2025

Today, marketing is about enabling customers to find the products that best match their profiles. Customer data is allowing marketers to deliver personalised campaigns at scale. However, the volume of data generated in recent years has grown at an exponential rate. Meanwhile, marketing organisations have remained the same size or, in some cases, have even shrunk due to economic pressures. Marketers are quickly realising that, for personalisation to become the cornerstone of their customer strategies, they must implement AI-driven automation. At the seventh edition of the ET Brand World Summit 2025 , a panel of marketing leaders gathered to reflect on a defining imperative of modern brand building: personalisation in an AI-driven world. The session, titled 'Personalisation in the Age of AI: Real-Time Actionable Insights 2.0', featured insights from Shiv Kumar, chief data and analytics officer, L'Oréal India; Nishant Kedia, CMO, Rebel Foods; Maneesh Mittal, senior vice president, Reliance Brands; Kavita Jagtiani, CMO, L&T Finance; and Gagandeep Gadri, EVP and global managing director, frog, part of Capgemini Invent. The discussion was chaired by Devesh Gupta, content lead for product and community, ETBrandEquity. The focus in marketing has shifted from creativity as a siloed domain to creativity as a democratised capability, unlocked by AI but driven by the quality of human input. 'The system is available to everyone, but the real art lies in how you use it,' stated Kumar. 'Prompting is not just science, it's creativity. With AI in our hands, ideation becomes faster, but it's the human touch that keeps communication meaningful, trustworthy, and truly personalised.' Personalisation is not merely a function of data, it is about making people feel genuinely delighted. At Rebel Foods, this principle came alive through a Diwali campaign featuring Saif Ali Khan delivering AI-powered, name-personalised greetings. 'Today, content must create its own distribution, and the only way to do that is by making someone feel personally delighted,' shared Kedia. 'When AI helps you send a greeting from Saif Ali Khan that says your name, that's not just personalisation, that's emotional branding at scale.' Personalisation is not a new phenomenon. It is rooted in the timeless power of human interaction, something AI should complement rather than attempt to replace. 'Personalisation didn't begin with AI, it began decades ago with your neighbourhood shopkeeper who knew your name,' said Mittal. 'The goal today is the same: replicate human warmth in digital experiences. Technology can assist, but the heart of marketing is still human connection.' Delivering real-time personalisation at scale requires a complete rethink not just of tools, but of teams, skills, and structures. 'The future of marketing isn't linear; it's circular, adaptive, and deeply human,' stated Gadri. 'To scale personalisation, brands must blend AI with creativity, behavioural science, and neurodiverse thinking. The question isn't just what AI can do, but how it reshapes our teams and their skills.' At the intersection of technology and social impact, AI is being used not only to personalise experiences but also to expand financial inclusion, particularly for underserved communities in rural India. 'With AI, we're personalising not just communication but inclusion,' said Jagtiani. 'From using satellite images to assess rural housing to analysing digital footprints to extend credit, we're making finance contextual, fair, and accessible, because personalisation must empower, not exclude.' While AI provides the infrastructure, personalisation remains a deeply human craft. From advanced analytics to heartfelt storytelling, from rural loans to luxury retail, today's brands must balance intelligence with empathy, and scale with soul. In an era where algorithms are everywhere, what truly sets a brand apart is how human it chooses to remain.

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Mohammed Shariful Islam, the 30-year-old accused in the brutal knife attack on actor Saif Ali Khan earlier this year, has now filed a bail application, calling the FIR against him a 'fictitious story.' As reported by IANS, Mohammed Shariful Islam is currently lodged in Mumbai's Arthur Road jail and is seeking release on the grounds that there is no concrete evidence tying him to the crime. Reportedly, in the bail petition, submitted through advocate Vipul Dushing, Islam has maintained his innocence. He also claimed that the allegations are entirely baseless. Mohammed Shariful Islam asserted that he has no previous criminal record and has cooperated with the investigation so far. 'The present FIR is nothing but a fictional story of the complainant,' his statement reads. Probe nearing completion, says petition According to the petition, most of the investigation has been completed and only the charge sheet remains to be filed. It points out that key evidence — including CCTV footage and call data records — has already been collected by the prosecution. Islam's legal team argued that since all relevant evidence is secured, there is no risk of tampering or influencing witnesses if he is granted bail. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal?
