Sam left in shock in Corrie as Lily makes unexpected revelation that floors him

A horrific incident at Coronation Street's Weatherfield High School recently left some of the pupils deeply traumatised. Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) broke out of prison and headed to the school to get his daughter Joanie (Savanna Pennington), who was there for an open day. Mick is, of course, well known in the local area, initially for being a trouble-making neighbour but more recently for being a murderer. He killed beloved local resident and police officer Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) in cold blood when Craig tried to arrest him. So when he appeared at the school, his presence was terrifying. Lily Platt (now played by Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) spotted him in the locker room and fled for the safety of a classroom. Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) then saw Mick walking towards him and panicked. He turned to the room where Lily had just gone, but the door was locked and a frantic Sam couldn't get in. For Sam it must have also made him think of his mum, Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac), who was shot by Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) after he escaped from prison. Following the ordeal, Nick (Ben Price) tried to talk to Sam about what happened, but Sam wasn't very forthcoming. He did describe how Lily had hidden in the classroom and wouldn't let him in, something that angered Nick and sent him off to have it out with Lily's father, David (Jack P Shepherd). Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and Nick hoped that Sam would easily get over his ordeal at the school, but that seemed not to be the case as Sam worriedly searched the internet for any mentions of Mick, desperate to know he was safely in custody. More Trending In upcoming episodes it's Audrey (Sue Nicholls)'s birthday, and the Platts all gather at the bistro for a celebration tea. Sam, however, can't cope and hides away in the office in a state of panic. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Realising that Sam has been deeply disturbed by the experience of being shut out of the classroom unable to escape from Mick, David and Shona (Julia Goulding) tell Lily that she owes Sam an apology for locking him out of the classroom. So Lily agrees to have a chat with Sam – but what she says doesn't help matters at all. She tells him that she locked him out of the classroom on purpose. Sam is understandably angry with her and the pair are soon arguing furiously. View More » What was Lily thinking? And how will Sam move on from his ordeal? Dad who plunged from Cyprus hotel balcony left unable to walk

Sam Hudson, 24, had been staying at Anmaria Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa when he fell from the second floor on June 15. A holidaymaker has been left unable to walk after suffering a horror fall from a hotel balcony in Cyprus. ‌ Sam Hudson was staying at the Anmaria Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa with his step-brother when he fell from the second floor on June 15. The dad, 24, had been drinking and was trying to leap between balconies. ‌ He was raced to hospital for treatment to pelvis and spinal injuries. His stepmum, Karen, received a call informing her that Sam had "sustained serious bone injuries" and needed to be moved to Nicosia General Hospital for critical care. ‌ Sam, who is a dad-of-one, was rushed into intensive care due to a shattered pelvis, fractures to the L4 and L5 vertebrae, and a broken leg, enduring over seven hours of surgery. Without travel insurance, Sam faced delays as he awaited a Global Health Insurance Card before doctors would proceed with the operation. After spending just over a week in the hospital, he was then moved to the Orthopaedic ward. Sam told the Mirror: "I do not remember anything, how it happened, nothing. I keep having nightmares about the accident. I was in a lot of pain and had a high dose of pain killers for the first 10 days which meant I was not really aware of how bad the situation was. "I had a broken pelvis at the right hand side near the leg joint, broken something in the lower part of pelvis, also broken an area at the back of my spine some small bones that stick out the back of the lower spine." Upon Sam's return home to Lincoln, he will need immediate physiotherapy and will be admitted to hospital for rehabilitation. ‌ The father will then embark on the challenging journey of learning to walk again. A fundraiser has been set up for his family to cover the costs of his travel home. Karen said: "Sam has not received any physiotherapy and urgently needs to return to the UK to be admitted to hospital for rehabilitation - to begin the long process of learning to stand and walk again. He still has fractures in his pelvis and lower spine that have not been addressed, as they're not considered emergencies. "However, from viewing the X-ray, these areas appear to be shattered, and we are concerned about the assumption that they will simply heal on their own. Trying to coordinate all of this has been a logistical nightmare for us as a family." ‌ She is initiating a petition urging the UK government to make travel insurance a legal requirement for anyone travelling abroad. Karen added: "Make sure always make sure you have travel insurance - no matter what. It's essential, and you should always read the small print to understand exactly what is and isn't covered. ‌ "Equally important is having a GHIC card, which can cover emergency medical treatment within the EU. If you have it with you, the NHS can fund your care, and treatment can begin immediately without unnecessary delays. "I strongly believe that travel insurance and a valid GHIC card should be made compulsory. When booking a flight or holiday, travellers should be required to enter both their insurance policy number and GHIC reference number. "This would ensure that everyone is adequately protected and could help prevent other families from experiencing the distress and uncertainty we faced - not knowing how we would manage the costs involved in getting Sam home and ensuring he received the care he needed."

Busker starts singing Lewis Capaldi song in street and reaction breaks his heart

A busker captured the emotional moment he began singing a Lewis Capaldi track in public — only to be met with a deeply moving and unexpected response from a stranger A busker set up to play some songs on a busy street and had no idea what impact he would have on someone's day. Singer Sam Rendina filmed himself performing the hit Lewis Capaldi track Someone You Loved. ‌ As he watched it back he was very moved by a man walking past who listened to the performance. Sam began passionately singing the lyrics when he noticed a man walking past who stopped to look at him. He carried on walking and then unexpectedly turned back towards the busker. The stranger put his bags down and faced Sam, fully paying attention to the poignant song. ‌ Wiping his teary eyes, the man walked towards the street performer and handed him some cash, clearly emotional after having watched the performance. ‌ He nodded at Sam and walked off, still crying as he was so touched by the song. The singer shared the moving interaction on TikTok and the video has racked up 15.4million views, a million likes and more than 29,000 comments, at the time of writing. In the caption of the post Sam reflected: 'Watching this broke my heart.' Many viewers left compassionate comments. ‌ One said: 'That man needs the biggest hug.' A second guessed: 'He remembers someone with that song.' Another viewer added: 'Some of us are really hurting silently.' Someone else commented: 'We all have stuff in our lives that songs will hit our hearts. Be nice and help each other, we don't know what the next is going though, hugs to this man, stay strong brother!' ‌ A fifth viewer remarked: 'When you're happy, you enjoy the music but when you're sad, the lyrics hit your emotion.' Someone You Loved was Lewis Capaldi's debut single, released in 2018 when he was just 22 years old. It remained at the top of the charts for weeks. The heartfelt lyrics struck a chord with many listeners and Capaldi has been very honest to interviewers about the meaning behind the song. ‌ In an interview with NME he said: 'Over the course of making this album, for example, there were a couple of bereavements in my family and stuff like that, and I wanted to write a song that could be applicable to both my relationship ending, which I was writing a lot about, and then this bereavement thing.' He wrote the song after experiencing two different heartbreaks - losing his grandmother and mourning the end of a romantic relationship. The Scottish singer-songwriter told an Australian music channel that his grandmother had passed away a few years ago. In the chorus of the sad song Capaldi sings: 'I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.'

Brit tourist plunges from Cyprus hotel balcony and can't walk after holiday 'nightmare'

Sam will then embark on the challenging journey of learning to walk again. However, lying flat for the flight home presents a "significant challenge" as the family cannot afford the cost of a stretcher. His step-mum has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover some of the costs, which has already raised more than £5,000. ‌ Karen stated: "Sam has not received any physiotherapy and urgently needs to return to the UK to be admitted to hospital for rehabilitation - to begin the long process of learning to stand and walk again. Man says 'why are they all dead' after unsettling find on UK beach

Sam filmed the strange sight after walking down to his local beach for an evening stroll A beachgoer found more than 250 huge dead spider crabs washed up on the shore after heading down for an evening stroll. Samuel Lacey, 22, said the trail of crustaceans went on for as far as he could see. ‌ Sam from Newton Abbot, Devon, made the discovery on nearby Teignmouth beach and said at first, he thought that it was part of the moulting process where crabs shed their shells to grow. ‌ Upon further inspection, the washed-up creatures were, in fact, dead. The shocking footage was captured on Monday. Sam said: 'Never have I seen them at this size and never this amount in one place. I have seen washed-up crabs, but only parts of them or singular crabs. ‌ 'There were easily 200 to 250; however, it was hard to tell, so there could have been more. When I first saw them, I believed they could have been part of the natural moulting process where crabs exit their shells to grow. 'But on inspection, they seemed to be full of crabs. They were heavier than I expected when I picked one up. ‌ 'It was quite uncomfortable to see at first, loads of large spider crabs in one place is quite unsettling. I'm sure there's a natural answer to why they're here. 'The trail of crabs took about over 15 minutes to walk down.' ‌ During moulting season, if the environment isn't ideal due to sudden changes in temperature, crabs can die in their thousands. Strong tides or storms can also dislodge crabs from the seabed and toss them onto shore. Algal blooms or temperature changes can reduce oxygen levels in the water, causing deaths as the crabs suffocate and get washed ashore - some blooms also release toxins. Coastal development or dredging can also disrupt the seafloor and can kill crabs directly or destroy their habitats. Spider crabs are a type of crab known for their long, spindly legs and often bulky or rounded bodies that resemble a spider—hence the name. They're part of the superfamily Majoidea, and several species exist around the world, both in shallow and deep ocean waters
