FIAT Launches Morocco-Made TRIS Electric Three-Wheeler for MEA Markets

Doha – FIAT Professional has unveiled its first-ever three-wheeled electric vehicle, the TRIS, manufactured in Morocco. The innovative vehicle aims to revolutionize last-mile delivery services across Africa and Middle East (MEA) markets with sustainable B2B micromobility solutions. According to a press release by Stellantis on May 21, the fully electric TRIS offers a 90 km range and will be available in three configurations: chassis-cabin, flatbed, and pick-up. The vehicle was designed at Centro Stile in Italy and created as an affordable ultra-light commercial vehicle. 'TRIS is more than just a new vehicle—it's a breakthrough in how we think about urban mobility,' said Olivier Francois, FIAT CEO and Stellantis Global Chief Marketing Officer. 'With its debut in the Middle East and Africa, TRIS is set to transform last-mile mobility and open new doors to economic empowerment and social inclusion.' The name 'TRIS' references the vehicle's three wheels, modular design, and signature three-light LED arrangement. Its simple pronunciation works across multiple languages for global appeal. Samir Cherfan, Chief Operating Officer of Stellantis for the Middle East and Africa region, stressed the vehicle's importance for the region. 'As the MEA region's urban population grows by 3% annually, micromobility offers a scalable and sustainable solution to growing congestion and transport deficits,' he stated. The TRIS features a compact size of just 3.17 meters in length with a tight 3.05-meter turning radius for navigating narrow city streets. It offers approximately 2.25 square meters of load space capable of accommodating a standard euro pallet. The vehicle has a Gross Vehicle Weight of 1,025 kg and a maximum payload capacity of 540 kg. Powered by a 48-volt electric motor delivering 9 kW peak power and 45 Nm maximum torque, the TRIS reaches a top speed of 45 km/h. Its 6.9 kWh lithium battery provides a 90 km range, sufficient for daily professional use in urban and suburban settings. Charging is designed to be user-friendly with an integrated smart charging system. The TRIS can be charged from 0 to 80% in 3.5 hours and fully recharged in 4 hours and 40 minutes using a standard domestic plug. The vehicle is fitted with a 5.7-inch digital cluster displaying essential driving information, USB-C and 12V power sockets, and LED lighting with FIAT's new signature pixel design. It meets European homologation standards with three-point seat belts, front LED lighting, a reverse buzzer, and a washer tank. FIAT Professional is positioning the TRIS as a flexible solution with leasing and lease-to-own options to empower entrepreneurs and economy workers. The vehicle is expected to serve a wide range of professional applications, from urban logistics to mobile businesses and essential transportation services.
