Samsung's Bixby brings AI-powered search to 2025 Smart TVs: What's new
Samsung Electronics has unveiled a major upgrade to its Bixby voice assistant for the 2025 Smart TV lineup, introducing more conversational and context-aware AI capabilities. Powered by generative AI, the new Bixby enables natural interactions with the TV—no need for menus, typing, or rigid commands. Here's what's new: Bixby on Samsung smart TVs: What's new Smarter Bixby Answers With a smarter Bixby, the company has focused on making AI practical, helping viewers connect with content in smarter and more natural ways. The AI-powered Bixby will understand follow-up questions and conversational context, which will allow users to ask about anything from general knowledge like 'How tall is Mount Everest?' to personalised recommendations such as 'Suggest chill playlists for a rainy day.' Click to Search Samsung has also expanded Bixby's role within its Click to Search feature. While watching live TV, cable, or Samsung TV Plus, users can ask about actors, shows, or broader topics and get instant answers. Bixby can even pull in information unrelated to what is playing like pasta recipes or movie suggestions. Home Device Management With Bixby Beyond entertainment, the smarter Bixby will also integrate with Samsung SmartThings to enable seamless control of connected devices. Users can issue commands like 'Turn off the oven' or 'Set the air conditioner to 25 degrees' straight from their TV, effectively turning it into a smart home hub. Availability The updated Bixby will roll out on Samsung's 2025 TV models including Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame, and QLED, starting in South Korea and will expand globally. In October 2025, Samsung will also launch an upgraded Vision AI experience, supported under its 7-year free Tizen OS upgrade program.

Samsung Smart TVs are getting a free AI update perfect for TV fans
Samsung has just rolled out a major free update to its 2025 smart TVs – and it's powered by AI. The centrepiece is a more conversational and context-aware version of Bixby, Samsung's voice assistant, designed to make your TV feel more like a helpful companion than a passive screen. That means no more digging through menus or reaching for your phone. With the new Bixby, you can just ask. Questions like 'Who's that actor?' or 'Recommend some rainy day playlists' now bring up instant results on-screen, whether you're watching live TV, cable or Samsung TV Plus. It understands follow-up questions, too, so you can have a more natural back-and-forth without having to repeat yourself. This update also boosts Samsung's 'Click to Search' feature, letting you tap into extra info about what's on-screen – or even stuff that's not. Want a pasta recipe or suggestions for chef-themed films? Just ask. Bixby pulls in relevant results using generative AI, without interrupting what you're watching. It's not just about TV, though. Thanks to integration with Samsung SmartThings, you can control smart home devices straight from your screen. Say 'Turn off the oven' or 'Set the air con to 25 degrees' and it's done – no separate hub required. Importantly, Samsung says the smarter Bixby runs locally and respects your privacy. No voice data is stored on servers or your TV, and everything's protected by Samsung Knox security. The smarter Bixby update is available now on 2025 Samsung TVs, including Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame and QLED models, starting in South Korea before rolling out globally. And there's more on the way. A revamped version of Vision AI is coming in October, with support through Samsung's generous 7-year Tizen OS upgrade programme. Liked this? The three things you need to look for when buying a smart lock
When it comes to buying one of the best smart locks, consumers are now spoiled for choice. There are now hundreds of different models on the market, starting at prices ranging from $100. But before you go off and buy the first model you see, there are a few things you need to take into consideration. The majority of smart locks are designed to replace the deadbolt on your door. In most cases, this means completely removing the deadbolt and swapping it with the smart lock. However, if you want to continue to use the same keys as before, you should look for a smart lock that only swaps out the interior portion of the lock (August's smart lock is a prime example of this). While this means you won't get such things as a keypad or fingerprint reader — unless they're available as separate accessories — you can keep using the lock as you did before you made it "smart." This may seem a bit silly at first, but one of the advantages of smart locks is that they offer multiple ways for you to enter your home. It'll be up for you to decide which you method - or methods - you want. Here are a few of the more popular entry methods. A smart lock is one of the easiest upgrades you can get for your home. No more fretting about forgetting keys or accidentally locking someone out. You can unlock your door with your unique code or the free Hubspace app. Need to let your house sitter in while you're on vacation? Give them a temporary passcode or let them in with the app. It's simple but secure. Unless your entire smart home will consist of a smart lock, you'll also want to consider how that lock will work with your other smart home devices. For example, when connected via a smart home hub, you can program your smart lights to automatically turn on when you unlock your door, or have your smart thermostat adjust its temperature down when you lock your door to leave your house. If that's your aim, then you want to make sure your smart lock works with one of the major smart home platforms — Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, or Samsung SmartThings. Otherwise, you may have difficulty in getting all your smart home devices to talk to each other. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
