Lucknow: A PAC jawan allegedly shot himself while on duty in Sonbhadra district on Friday. The jawan, Sandeep Singh (26), a native of Ballia, was taken to the community health centre (CHC), where doctors pronounced him dead. Sandeep was stationed at 39th Battalion in Mirzapur and returned to Amwar PAC camp in Sonbhadra on Aug 5 after completing VVIP duty in Varanasi. Around 3.55am, just five minutes before his shift was about to end, he woke up his colleague, Piyush Paswan, informing him that it was time for his duty. Sandeep then returned to his seat and shot himself. Sandeep's father Vinod Kumar, who works as a clerk at a college in Ballia, recounted his last conversation with his son. He said that Sandeep called him at 9pm, mentioning his duty hours and added that he was going to have dinner. Sandeep's father, uncles Anoop Singh and Chandra Bhan, and younger brother Pradeep, reached Sonbhadra and expressed disbelief over Sandeep's action. Varanasi: A soldier on duty shot himself at the PAC camp in Amwar in Sonbhadra district early on Friday morning. Hearing the gunshot, soldiers rushed to the scene and took him to CHC Duddhi, where doctors declared him dead. Constable Sandeep Singh, 26, a resident of Alampur Post in the Gadwar police station area of Ballia district, was stationed with the 39th Battalion G Company in Mirzapur. After completing VVIP duty in Varanasi on August 5, he reported to the Amwar PAC camp. Around 4am on Friday, he allegedly shot himself in the neck with his service rifle (SLR). The bullet pierced through his neck and head, leaving him in a critical condition on the spot. CO Rajesh Kumar Rai, PAC Naxal In-charge Dev Narayan Yadav, and Deputy Commandant Vijay Anand arrived at the scene. His family has been informed. A PAC jawan, Sandeep Singh died by suicide in Sonbhadra, shooting himself with his SLR rifle LUCKNOW: A PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) personnel on duty allegedly died by suicide by shooting himself in Sonbhadra district on Friday. The jawan, identified as 26-year-old Sandeep Singh from Ballia, was immediately taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead. The sound of the gunshot alerted his colleagues, who rushed to the scene to find the soldier lying on the ground, covered in blood. He had used an SLR rifle to shoot himself in the neck, with the bullet passing through his head. Sandeep was posted with the 39th Battalion Company in Mirzapur. The incident occurred after he returned to the Amwar PAC camp on 5 August, following VVIP duty in Varanasi. His shift was from 2am to 4am. At around 3.55 am, just five minutes before his shift ended, he woke his colleague, Piyush Paswan, informing him that it was time for duty. Sandeep then returned to his seat and shot himself with the rifle. The barracks where he lived housed 30 other soldiers. A forensic team arrived at the scene for investigation, and the body was sent to the mortuary. The family was informed of the incident. 3 prostitution rings busted in Bathinda in a day

Bathinda: Three cases were registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act on Tuesday over alleged prostitution rackets being operated from three hotels of Bathinda. Earlier, a case of a similar nature was registered on July 31 and Aug 1. In the first case, Gurtej Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, and Lakhbir Singh were charged with keeping a brothel or allowing premises to be used as a brothel, and living on the earnings of prostitution. In the second case, similar charges were pressed against Sandeep Singh of Rama Mandi, Pankaj, and Happy. Yet another case was registered against Sandeep Singh of Khialiwala village in Bathinda and Yadwinder Singh for illegal acts in different hotels in Bathinda. In all three cases, police claimed, the owners of the hotels were taking advantage of the compulsion of the women. While two FIRs were registered at Kotwali police station, one was registered at Civil Lines police station.
