PU launches online affiliation system
Chandigarh: Panjab University has launched an online affiliation management system aimed at streamlining the college affiliation process and improving transparency. The new system will be implemented through the SAMARTH portal, a platform developed by the ministry of education and customised for the university's requirements.
The portal was launched by PU vice-chancellor Prof Renu Vig in the presence of senior university officials, including dean university instructions Yojna Rawat and dean, college development council Sanjay Kaushik.
The new system will move all affiliation-related processes online. Colleges will now submit institutional data through the portal, which will be reviewed by the DCDC office. Inspections for ongoing courses will be conducted exclusively online.
Physical inspections will be limited to new courses and are expected to shift online by next year. When required, physical inspections will be carried out by a two-member team comprising the Vice Chancellor's Nominee and the DCDC Nominee.
University officials said the new system will improve clarity, reduce delays, and strengthen record-keeping. Trial runs were conducted at a government and a private college in Chandigarh before launch.
