Anurag Kashyap ditches Cannes for Toronto: TIFF to host world premiere of Bobby Deol starrer 'Bandar'
The unexpected switch has many calling it the latest chapter in the ongoing 'Festival Wars', a rising trend where global festivals compete to bag premiere rights for highly potential films read more In a dramatic turn that has sparked chatter in the festival circuit, Anurag Kashyap has ditched his favorite Cannes choosing instead to premiere his next Film Bandar featuring Bobby Deol, Sanya Malhotra and others at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Apparently the Festival Managers at Toronto were keen that Kashyap's Film premiers coinciding with their 50th Anniversary. The film, boasts a stellar cast led by Bobby Deol, alongside Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, and Sapna Pabbi and is Produced by Nikhil Dwivedi. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The unexpected switch has many calling it the latest chapter in the ongoing 'Festival Wars', a rising trend where global festivals compete to bag premiere rights for highly potential films. While Cannes has long been considered the pinnacle of auteur-driven cinema, TIFF's growing global influence and audience reach have made it an increasingly strategic choice for filmmakers seeking both acclaim and visibility. This shift also marks a significant moment for Bobby Deol, whose career renaissance continues to surprise audiences and critics alike. Fresh off the success of 'Animal', Bobby is said to be in an entirely new avatar in this film, raw, dark, and unlike anything he's done before. 'Bandar' is being described as a gripping drama with layered characters and hard hitting reality - typical of Kashyap's bold storytelling style. With powerhouse cast adding further depth to the narrative, the project has already started generating buzz as one of the must-watch Indian films at TIFF 2025, and expectations are sky high.

How to spot a real Parsi Gara handmade saree vs a machine-made one?
(Image Credits: Pinterest) Parsi Gara embroidery is known for its intricate detailing and iconic craftsmanship, which reflects the rich culture and heritage of the Parsi community. But with the rise of machine embroidery, distinguishing between genuine hand embroidery and machine-made dupes has become a challenging process. But don't worry; if you're someone who still prefers to purchase something authentic, then here's a short guide that will help you distinguish between the two. Start by checking the back of the fabric A hand-embroidered Parsi Gara will carry a messy back, which will show knots, loose threads, and a messy appearance. You will see tension binding in the thread lengths on the backside because it is done manually. On the other hand, machine embroidery will have neatly trimmed threads with a consistent tension, which will give a smooth finish. The pattern on the back is considered the mirror image of the front, which is not the case in an original handmade one. (Image Credits: Pinterest) Try to feel the texture Handmade embroidery will have a distinct texture in which you will see raised embroidery work with a three-dimensional aspect. The embroidery on the fabric will be softer because of the natural movement of the thread, which is used by hand. But, in a machine-made one, you will see a flat surface that will lack texture and handwork, with the threads being stiffer and less in natural flow. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Health: the best shoes to walk and stand all day Ultra-Comfortable Shoes Undo Sanya Malhotra confesses 'stealing sarees' from sets of her last movie and wearing one for her friend's wedding Different stitching qualities Hand embroidery often features slight irregularities in the length of the stitching, which adds a regal charm to the character, making this authentic. The motifs will be densely packed with high details, further showing the artisan's skill and dedication. Machine embroidery will be absolutely uniform, where the stitches will appear almost identical. The intricacies will be visible, but overall, it will lack fine detailing with no depth and lustre. Always consider the price value Hand embroidery will surely have a higher price command because of the labour-intensive process and the artisan's skill. It will be time-consuming and can take months to construct, reflecting the time and effort invested. Machine-embroidered sarees or pieces will be more affordable because of the lower labour costs and production time, indicating that they're not authentic but machine-made products. (Image Credits: Pinterest) Lastly, try to analyse the designs Each piece is unique, as it incorporates the personal touch of the creator, making two sarees completely different from each other. Pari Gara embroidery is highly complex and has detailed motifs that include flowers, birds, and other detailing. But machine embroidery will be repetitive and perfectly symmetrical, which will lack in designs and will also have no unique charm, which is usually seen in handcrafted work.
