Sarah Jessica Parker gives up dream of Irish citizenship
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have given up on their dream of gaining Irish citizenship. The 'Sex and The City' star and her actor husband fell in love with the country and bought a holiday home in Donegal where they spend vacations with their children. They have looked into the possibility of relocating to Ireland permanently but the dream has been shelved after they found out they don't qualify for permanent residency status. Sarah Jessica worked with Rosie O'Donnell - who moved to Ireland earlier this year - on the new series of 'And Just Like That ... ' and the actress admitted Rosie had an opportunity which was not afforded to the couple. She told the Sunday Independent newspaper: "We're [myself and Rosie] not in the same position." Sarah Jessica added: "We do feel enormously privileged to be able to visit the country as much as possible, however, which of late has just worked out – our kids' school schedule and our own work schedule has allowed us to be in Ireland a lot. "So we've given up on the idea of being able to call ourselves Irish citizens. But it doesn't matter because it doesn't affect our love of the country and our time spent there." Rosie, 62, relocated to Ireland along with her 12-year-old child Clay after Donald Trump was re-elected as US president, and she has since insisted she's loving their new life there and has no regrets about the move. She told Variety: "Never, for one moment since I arrived here, did I regret my choice. People have been so welcoming, so accepting, and they have a different view of celebrity in the culture here. "They are not prioritized over other people. People are much more friendly and intimate with each other in a real way. Every time I go into the pharmacy, I fall in love, because the pharmacist talks to you. Have you ever spoken to a pharmacist at CVS? ... "I call my friends every time, going, 'I think the pharmacist has a crush on me.' But it's a beautiful way of life. The smallness of this nation fits me very well."

People Are Mocking Sarah Jessica Parker For Saying She Reads Two Books A Day, And I Hate To Break It To You, But I Think She's Telling The Truth
If you follow Sarah Jessica Parker on Instagram, you'll know she's a serious bookworm. However, her latest revelation about her reading habits has caused quite the conversation online. Speaking to Page Six at the PEN America Literary Gala last week, Sarah Jessica revealed that she's currently 'reading two books a day' in preparation to judge the Booker Prize. 'It's intense to be reading [that number of books],' she told the reporter on the red carpet. 'The volume is kind of hard to convey, what it's like to have as many books we are given the opportunity to read in a month. It's quite something.' View this photo on Instagram For context, the Booker Prize is awarded each year to 'the best sustained work of fiction written in English,' and it's up to the board of judges to decide what that is — which, as you can imagine, involves reading a lottttttt of books. But, despite Sarah Jessica's solid credentials as someone who literally runs their own publishing imprint (SJP Lit, look it up), there are a lot of people who think she's exaggerating her stats. 'Me when I lie,' replied someone else. Others even questioned how it'd be possible to properly absorb such a huge amount of literature in such short periods. 'I could read this fast, but I wouldn't remember shit I read afterwards though, would have plots mixed up and shit LMFAO,' they wrote. 'fun to see a lot of people who probably read the equivalent of two books a day in their time spent online express disbelief that someone could spend the same amount of time actually reading instead,' another person wrote, making a very valid point about social media consumption. 'fun fact about being a Booker Prize judge is you have to read all submitted books (around 165) in seven months - so if she's not finishing a book every day or two then she falls behind, but she also runs her own publishing imprint so she obviously reads a lot already,' one user highlighted. 'Ah to be rich, occasionally employed with a lifetime supply of residuals,' joked someone else about SJP's dreamy lifestyle. 'actors are the funniest people you could call a liar for reading this much because what exactly do you think they're doing when they're memorizing those lines,' wrote another user. Someone else noted that SJP previously commented on a Booker Prize Instagram post about the judges' reading schedule, vowing to do it herself one day. 'i'm actually kinda obsessed because Sarah Jessica Parker saw this video on Instagram a few years ago about the Booker Prize judges reading 170 books in seven months and she commented 'oh let me try!' and now she's deep in the middle of doing it,' they wrote, sharing a screenshot of the comment. View this photo on Instagram Well, with so much speculation as to how she finds the time to get through so many books, SJP helpfully provided some answers. 'You just do,' she said on the red carpet when asked how she makes the time in her day-to-day life. 'I didn't do it last year because I knew I was shooting and doing a play and doing the series, so this year I knew that I had a different kind of time available to me, so I just read morning to night. Any opportunity that exists, I'm reading.' Well, there you have it, naysayers. Pick up a book. More on this I Read 365 Books In A Single Year. Sarah Jessica Parker Gets Candid About Why She Almost Quit Sex And The City Before It Even Aired
Sarah Jessica Parker has admitted she almost pulled out of Sex And The City before the show even began airing. In the mid-90s, SJP had appeared in films like The First Wives Club, Ed Wood and Hocus Pocus when she was cast as the lead in the show that would become a global phenomenon. However, speaking to co-star Kristin Davis on a recent episode of her podcast Are You A Charlotte?, Sarah Jessica admitted that after the pilot episode proved enough for the show to be picked up by HBO, she then 'panicked' and wanted to pull out completely. 'I was like, I can't be on a TV show. I don't think I'm suited for that life,' she recalled. '[The thought of working in TV] also kind of depressed me – I think that it was the idea of doing the same thing over and over and over again.' At the time, she added, she was experimenting with different sorts of film and theatre work, and she worried that 'the idea of a television series meant that I couldn't do all those things'. 'It just kind of felt like somebody was, you know, putting their hand over my mouth or something,' Sarah Jessica added. Fortunately, her agents and the execs at HBO were able to talk her around, assuring her that if she didn't enjoy the project, she could pull out when the first season was done. But, there was one other appealing thought that led to SJP signing on the dotted line. 'The location was up the street from my house,' she revealed. 'I remember thinking, 'I can walk to work. I'm not driving on to a lot. I'm not getting on a freeway and hoping I get myself there'.' 'And I walked up to the location and I never looked back,' she quipped. Sarah Jessica played Carrie in all six seasons of Sex And The City, earning her two Emmys (one as an actor, and the other as an actor), and later returned for the two divisive spin-off films. More recently, she reprised the role in spin-off And Just Like That alongside co-stars Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, which returns for its third season later this month.
