Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Film On The Cards? JD Majethia Says ‘Could've Been Made Earlier…'

Last Updated: JD Majethia was asked whether he plans to turn Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai into a film series, similar to what he did with Khichdi. Find out what he said! Producer JD Majethia is known for his successful comedy shows such as Khichdi, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, among others. He recently made a surprising announcement of the movie Khichdi 3, leaving fans excited. In a recent interview, he was asked whether he also plans to turn Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai into a film series, similar to what he did with Khichdi. JD Majethia replied that there might have been a chance to make a film on Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai earlier, but the opportunity seems to have passed. He said that while there 'should be more' to the series, it's too late to make a film on it now. While speaking with Hindustan Times, JD Majethia shut down hopes for a Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai film. 'Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai ki film nahi banni chahiye. (A film on Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai should not be made). It could have been made earlier but not now. There should be more to that series too, but it's too late to make a film on that. I am not too sure, but we will wait and see," he said. Meanwhile, in the same interview, he also talked about the level of comedy going downhill. 'The overall level of comedy has gone down in our industry. You will find small gags and videos on social media, but the hunger to spend money to go watch something has reduced. You won't find any comedy that can become legendary today, as you used to until a few years earlier, and the reason is we don't have such talented crop of writers and actors for that," he said. Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, starring an ensemble cast of Satish Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, and Rajesh Kumar, remains one of the most beloved sitcoms in Indian television history. The first season aired from 2004 to 2006 on television, and has attained cult status thanks to its sharp wit, timeless humour and unforgettable characters. The show returned with a new season, 'Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai: Take 2' in 2017, and it was streamed on Hotstar. The story of the second season was set 11 years after the first season's conclusion.
