Aljomaih Energy and Water signs $2.3 billion Jubail-Buraydah pipeline project

Under the patronage of Dr Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Qassim Region, and in the presence of the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, along with the CEO of the Saudi Water Partnership Company, Eng. Khaled bin Zaid Al-Quraishi, the consortium led by Aljomaih Energy and Water Company, in partnership with Buhur Investment Company and Nesma Limited Company, signed the agreement for the Jubail-Buraydah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project with the Saudi Water Partnership Company. This pioneering project marks the first desalinated water transmission pipeline connecting the Eastern Region and Qassim Region. The Jubail - Buraydah independent water pipeline project will have a transmission capacity of 650,000 cubic meters per day and a storage capacity of 1,634,500 cubic meters. With length of 587 kilometers, the project operates under a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model, with a concession period of 35 years. Commercial operation is scheduled to begin in 2029. This strategic project to connect the Eastern Region with the Qassim Region via a desalinated water pipeline reflects Aljomaih Energy and Water's commitment to enhancing the sustainability of water resources and developing advanced water infrastructure. With an investment budget of $2.3 billion, this project ensures continuous and effective water provision, serving over two million beneficiaries with a reliable and sustainable source. It aligns with the National Water Strategy 2030 to meet increasing demand and support local economic growth, achieving water availability at 98 per cent of transmission capacity. In this context, Ibrahim Aljomaih, chairman of the board of directors for Aljomaih Energy and Water, stated: "This project marks a milestone in our vision to support the National Water Strategy in the Kingdom and the goals of Vision 2030. Through innovative partnerships and leveraging local expertise, this project will contribute to the sustainable management of water resources, becoming a fundamental pillar for social and economic development in the Eastern and Qassim regions." In light of this achievement, Adnan Buhuligah, deputy CEO of Aljomaih Energy and Water, stated: "This project is a key step toward sustainable water security in the Kingdom. By leveraging strategic partnerships and innovative solutions, we are enhancing water transmission efficiency and ensuring a reliable and resilient water supply for communities The project will also contribute to achieving local content goals, achieving 45 per cent during the construction phase and 70 per cent during the operational phase, with robust water storage systems ensuring high levels of continuous supply." This leading project reaffirms Aljomaih Energy and Water's leadership in the water and infrastructure sectors, enhancing its role as a lead developer, operator and trusted partner in driving sustainable development in the Kingdom.

SWPC signs $2.3bn Jubail-Buraydah IWTP project deal

Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has signed agreements worth SAR8.5 billion ($2.3 billion) with a consortium of Saudi utility developers for the implementation of Jubail-Buraydah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP) project coming up in Al Qassim province. The winning consortium, comprising Aljomaih Energy and Water Company Power, Nesma Company and Buhur for Investment Company, will be developing the project on a build-own-operate and transfer (BOOT) model. The project, with a transmission capacity of 650,000 cu m/day, is a significant boost to the water infrastructure in the Al Qassim and the Eastern provinces that will cater to the drinking water needs in both regions, said a statement from SWPC. The Jubail-Buraydah IWTP project also comprises six strategic storage tanks at Al Shamasiyah and 3 strategic storage tanks at Al Jubail with a total storage capacity of 1,634,500 cu m, ensuring a reliable and efficient water supply in the two regions, it stated. The 587-km-long pipeline will have the ability of reverse flow from Al Shamasiyah, passing through Al Qulayib, to Al Jubail with the full project capacity, said the statement. The agreement was inked under the patronage of Prince Dr Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Prince of Al Qassim province and Engineer Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SWPC. Lauding the Saudi leadership for its support, Al Fadley said the signing of these agreements helps in achieving the goals and plans of the ministry to showcase robust water transmission in the various regions of the kingdom in front of investors. In addition, it is an extension of the signing of previous projects with the participation of the private sector, he stated. CEO Khalid Bin Zwaid AlQureshi said a total of 32 companies, including 14 local companies, had bid for the project and after a competitive process, the consortium of Aljomaih Energy & Water Company emerged winners. The scope of work for the winning bidder includes development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation and maintenance of the project. The project's commercial operation is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2029. The concession term is for a period of 35 years from the commercial operation, stated AlQureshi.

Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz, inaugurated four cutting-edge healthcare projects today at the governorate headquarters in Jeddah. These initiatives aim to enhance healthcare services for residents and contribute to the overall development of the health sector. The event was attended by Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel, alongside several princes, ministers, and key healthcare leaders. King's College London Hospital The newly launched facilities include King's College London Hospital and Andalusia Hospital, both equipped with state-of-the-art medical technologies to deliver advanced healthcare services. Additionally, the Masar Center for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment – Bin Mahfouz was inaugurated as the Kingdom's first private, fully integrated rehabilitation center for mental health and voluntary addiction treatment. Also part of the development is Tamer Pharmaceutical Company, further strengthening the region's pharmaceutical capabilities. Altogether, these projects represent a total healthcare investment of SAR 1.9 billion, providing a combined clinical capacity of 430 beds. World Health Organization During the ceremony, the deputy governor received a certificate of appreciation from the Minister of Health on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO), recognizing Jeddah as the largest million-plus health city in the region. This designation underscores Jeddah's commitment to meeting over 80 health, social, educational, and urban development standards. Transforming Healthcare These projects highlight the private sector's pivotal role in transforming healthcare, fostering innovation, and ensuring the sector's sustainability according to international standards. Speaking at the event, Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel emphasized the Kingdom's commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare: 'Enhancing healthcare quality remains a core priority, ensuring comprehensive services that meet the community's needs while integrating the latest technologies and best practices. Mental health and addiction treatment are vital to improving quality of life and well-being. Under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Al Saud, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, we continue to build a comprehensive health ecosystem that guarantees easy access to world-class medical services across the Kingdom.'
