Sault teen charged with mischief, weapons possession
An 18-year-old in Sault Ste. Marie who was wanted on charges dating to August 2024 was arrested last weekend when police responded to an unrelated call. An 18-year-old in Sault Ste. Marie who was wanted on charges dating to August 2024 was arrested last weekend when police responded to an unrelated call. The charges are linked to an incident Aug. 19 last year when a 911 caller reported someone damaging a property on Amherst Street. 'An investigation revealed the accused damaged lawn equipment, shot property with a crossbow and arrows within city limits and ripped up flooring,' Sault police said in a news release. 'A warrant was obtained for their arrest.' The suspect, who was a young offender at the time of the original incident, was arrested May 25. Charges include two counts of failing to comply with a sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, failure to comply with an undertaking, mischief over $5,000 and weapons possession. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
