Man, 18, killed in crash was 'our joy, our pride'
The family of an 18-year-old driver who died following a crash have described him as "always our light – our joy, our pride, a part of our hearts". Nojukas Korzeniauskas died at the scene of the collision on the A47 at Guyhirn in Cambridgeshire at about 14:45 BST on Saturday. "Though your journey here was far too short, your presence was a miracle full of endless love," his parents and brother said of the teenager, who lived at Cygnet Crescent in March. Cambridgeshire Police said officers continue to appeal for witnesses or dashcam footage of the collision. A tribute, issued via the police force, read: "Our dearest Nojukas - you were always our light – our joy, our pride, a part of our hearts. "Your smile lit up every room, and your laughter was music to our home. "We – your mama, dad, and brother – say goodbye not as to someone gone, but to someone who will always remain with us – in our memories, our dreams, our hearts." Mr Korzeniauskas was driving a silver Mazda MX-5 at the time of the collision with the Scania double-decker bus. The road was closed between the Rings End roundabout and Wisbech for several hours. Scania to soon start electric bus deliveries to northern Sweden
Scania is set to enhance Sweden's public transportation system with the delivery of new electric buses starting this summer. The initial batch will include the two-axle low-entry Scania Fencer f1 model, equipped with four battery packs. Following this, the three-axle low-entry Scania Irizar i3 buses with five battery packs are scheduled for delivery at the turn of the year. The company said these buses represent a significant step towards a more sustainable and safer local transport system. The electric buses, charged using local and sustainable hydro power, will be delivered through a partnership with local Scania dealer Berners and operator Connect Bus. They will serve both city and suburban routes in and around Åre, a region known for its wide temperature range, which can vary by as much as 60°C throughout the year. The order for these electric buses was placed in 2024. The 14 buses are built on Scania's battery electric platform, launched in October 2023 and recently expanded to include a three-axle variant. Scania Urban Solutions head Anna Ställberg said: 'We listened to the market and developed an electric bus platform that meets today's transport needs. This order demonstrates that customers and authorities appreciate its benefits. In addition to having zero tailpipe emissions, the buses are also equipped with the latest road safety technology, including new advanced driver assistance system functionalities.' The region has already seen Scania electric buses in operation, which have successfully navigated the extreme temperature variations, from +30°C in summer to -30°C in winter. Connect Bus CEO Jonas Kempe added: 'Connect Bus is looking forward to receiving the first batch of electric two- and three-axle buses from Scania. With this order, we are investing in a healthier living environment and taking the next step to making zero emissions the new standard.' Additionally, Scania has recently introduced the Super 11 engine, an 11-litre segment innovation that enhances performance and flexibility. Scania to launch new production hub in China in October
Swedish truck manufacturer Scania AB confirmed it is scheduled to begin operations at its new EUR 2 billion production hub in China in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to reports citing the company's CEO Christian Levin. Scania, part of the Traton group which also includes brands such as MAN, International and Volkswagen Truck & Bus, currently has two main global manufacturing hubs - Sweden and in Brazil - supplying built-up vehicles and components to world markets. The new production hub in Rugao, in China's Jiangsu province, will ultimately have a production capacity of 50,000 trucks per year. The facility is expected to help lift the brand's sales in the world's largest vehicle market and will also export built-up vehicles to other markets in Asia. Mr Levin, who also heads Traton, expects the new Rugao facility to help the company reduce its delivery times across the Asia-Pacific region. He pointed out that currently "if a customer in Asia wants to buy a Scania, they have to get it from Europe or Brazil, which means a wait of maybe six or seven months." Scania's stronger manufacturing presence in China will also help improve its access to next-generation truck technologies that are available in the country, including zero-emission drivetrains and smart, connected technologies. The CEO confirmed 'we want to tap into that. We want to be part of the ecosystem. We want to be close to the competition.' Scania recently launched a new US$ 350 million investment at its existing operations in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to upgrade its production facilities and introduce clean transportation solutions including electrified powertrains. SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden, May 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2024, Scania secured an order for electric buses to be deployed in and around Åre, Sweden, a region where temperatures can vary some 60°C during the course of a year. The buses – built on the battery electric platform that was launched in October 2023 and recently expanded with a three-axle variant – are now to be delivered and put into operations. Electric buses are now a standard in many tenders, and Scania aims to expand its presence in this segment, with the new platform – consisting of the initially introduced two-axle variant and the recently launched three-axle variant – playing a crucial role in these ambitions. "We listened to the market and developed an electric bus platform that meets today's transport needs. This order demonstrates that customers and authorities appreciate its benefits," says Anna Ställberg, Head of Urban Solutions at Scania. "In addition to having zero tailpipe emissions, the buses are also equipped with the latest road safety technology, including new advanced driver assistance system functionalities." Sweden's Scania makes €2 billion China bet with new factory, eyeing Asian growth
Swedish truck maker Scania will launch a €2 billion (US$2.28 billion) Chinese production hub in October, its third global manufacturing base alongside facilities in Sweden and Brazil, according to CEO Christian Levin. The new factory in Rugao, in China's eastern Jiangsu province, will eventually reach a production capacity of 50,000 vehicles a year – nearly double what Scania's Brazilian plant produced in 2024. It would also boost demand for parts made in South America, said Levin, who also runs group Traton, which includes the brands Scania, Man, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus. Setting up in the Chinese market also gives Scania access to the next generation of transport technology in China. 'We want to tap into that,' he said. 'We want to be part of the ecosystem. We want to be close to the competition.' Scania is also kicking off a new four-year investment cycle in Brazil, which became its second hub after Sweden in the late 1950s, with about US$350 million of capital spending at its local hub, based in Sao Paulo state, by 2028. Part of the investment is going to initiatives concerning clean transport, including electrification. With its main production hubs in Europe and South America offering the same products in different geographies, Scania has been able to expand its presence in several parts of the world.
