How I find 10p B&M bargains – the six tricks you NEED to follow to find them too

A nifty scanner app can help you save money in your local B&M store SHOP TO IT How I find 10p B&M bargains – the six tricks you NEED to follow to find them too BARGAIN shop B&M is a treasure trove of bargains - but you could save even more by arming yourself with the shop's scanner app. Super shopper Sam Penney has snapped up gadgets from vacuum cleaners to headphones for as little as 10p thanks to the nifty tool. She set up the group in 2019 so she could share her scanning tips. Now the community has grown to 328.k members, who post about the deals they have found in store. "B&M is great - it sells everything you need, like snacks for the kids and household stuff," Sam said. Advertisement The secret to bagging the best deals is to use the B&M scanner app. It can be found on the B&M Stores mobile app, which you can download for free from the App Store or Google Play. There's a "scan" button on the bottom of the homepage on the app. Simply point your phone's camera at an item's barcode, and the app will automatically bring up the price. Advertisement If an item's price hasn't been updated on the shelf, the app will tell you - and it's a great way of hunting out the best bargains. Here's Sam's top scanner tips - and other tricks to make sure you're saving money in store. Always scan last items in stock If you spot just one last item left on the shelves, always make sure to scan it, says Sam. Because it's the last one, it may have been discounted in price. Advertisement "If something looks out of place on the shelf or it's the one, scan it on your phone to check the price. "My biggest bargain was a floor steamer for 10p, which originally was £60. "It was one left sitting randomly in the store, so I scanned it but the app said the product wasn't found, so I went to the till to check the price. "I then discovered it was 10p. I thought it was brilliant - I gave it to my mum." Advertisement Check the packaging If the same item has different packaging, make sure to scan it, says Sam. Sometimes, manufacturers will update the packaging of an item. This might mean that if the same item is in the old packaging style, then it may have been discounted to make way for the new stock. "I got a window vac for £1 last year - I spotted that there was the same model of window vac but in different packaging compared to others on the shelf," Sam said. Advertisement "When I scanned the window vac in the different packaging with my phone, it was listed as £1, whereas the others were £20." Red and white stickers You may have heard of yellow sticker items, but B&M puts red and white stickers on discounted products to tell customers what the new price is. These stickers are not usually used by B&M, Sam said, but it is worth keeping an eye out for them when you're next shopping in store. If you spot a sticker item, it's worth scanning it with your app. Advertisement This is because the price may have gone down again. Go on Wednesday morning The best time to shop for new bargains is Wednesday morning, according to Sam. This is usually when prices usually go down. "Go bright and early," she said. "I got a pair of Wave 100 JBL earphones which were £1 down from £10 on a Wednesday morning recently." Advertisement To beat other shoppers, set an alarm early on your phone. Shop while the kids are in school Sometimes it's hard to say no to the kids if they spot toys or sweets in store. That's why Sam makes sure to shop in store while her two children, Shanae, 16, and Keighan, 11, are at school. That way, she can monitor her budget and make sure she's not overspending on her shopping trips. Advertisement "As a single mum, I need to make sure I'm saving where I can," she said. Ask staff for help If you scan an item using your scanner but the price isn't listed, don't just put the item back. Take it to a member of staff and ask them to check the price - you may find it's a bargain. "I recently scanned a rug on my app, but it said that the barcode wasn't found, so I took it to the till. Advertisement "They checked and said it was 10p. The rug was originally £40 - I thought it was great, so I've put it in my living room." It might be an idea making friends with staff at your local branch. They may be able to share helpful intel on which items have recently dropped in price. Here's the best time to shop at B&M. B&M shoppers rush to buy stylish home furniture scanning at just £20 instead of £200

SAVVY shoppers are flocking to B&M to get their hands on majorly discounted furniture. One customer couldn't believe her luck after she nabbed a large oak cupboard originally priced at £200 for just £20. 1 A B&M customer landed an incredible deal in their local store Credit: B&M Scanner And Other Bargains!/Facebook She and her daughter were browsing their local B&M and scanning items with the store's app to check if they had secret or early deals. The pair stumbled across a 2-door 2-drawer sideboard made from premium oak and scanned the box to see if there was any chance of saving some cash. To their delight, it had been reduced to £100, but things were about to get even better. When the mother and daughter duo rocked up at the tills, the cashier scanned the flatpack box to reveal it was just £20. That is a whopping saving of £180 in total. The scanner is free to use – you just need to download the B&M app. She shared a photo of the product on B&M Scanner and Other Bargains Facebook page and told other users that she 'still couldn't believe it'. How does the B&M barcode scanner app work? B&M shoppers say they've saved hundreds of pounds by using the store's free barcode scanner. The tool allows them to discover discounted items before the staff have even reduced them. Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift, or they're labelled 'big brands' and 'big savings'. It's a terrific hack to use, especially since the cost of living keeps rising and inflation might hit 15% by the end of the year. The scanner is completely free as well – you just need to download the B&M app. Shoppers can download it on the App Store or Google Play. Once you've got the app, click on the 'scan' button at the bottom of your homepage. This will then bring up the camera on your smartphone, which you'll need to use to scan barcodes. When you've found a product you want to scan, simply point your smartphone camera toward its barcode. The app will then automatically bring up the item's price – this is when you'll know if it is reduced or not. To read more, click here. Impressed by the massive saving, one wrote: 'Bargain. I love it when something like this happens.' 'Wow, how lucky,' said a second. A third shared their experience: 'Lots (of) furniture reduced. I found black and oak TV unit £90 down to £10 and breakfast bar table and two stools £60 down to £10. 'Today (I) got an electric stove fire £70 down to £15. Great find, well done.' If you see something you like in the B&M sale it may be worth comparing prices online to ensure you are not missing a better deal somewhere else. Sales also vary from store to store, so just because one branch offers amazing deals on something doesn't mean they all will. You will also need to shop these offers in person as B&M does not have an online store. With that in mind, it may be worth ringing your local store ahead of time to check stock levels to avoid a wasted trip. You can find your nearest B&M by visiting It's not the only offer at B&M in recent weeks. The popular store has launched a huge sale on garden kit, with the cheapest item selling for just £1. Over 50 products have been reduced in price, including a Solar Table Lamp that is on sale for just £1. The product, which can be used to light up your garden at night originally cost £1.50 but has had its price reduced by 33%. And that is not all the retailer has also cut the price of Johnstone's Paint by 25% for those looking to do some DIY. The paint usually goes for £15 at B&M but it is now scanning for £11.25. Those looking to pick up some garden furniture also have a chance to save £150 on a Bali 8 Seater Dining Table Set, which now costs £350 Shoppers also have a chance to save £10 on a pop up gazebo that is now scanning for £50.
