WATCH: Former Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson shares why he wears No. 32

WATCH: Former Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson shares why he wears No. 32 Buckeye Nation will always have fond memories of former running back TreVeyon Henderson. He came to Ohio State as the No. 1 running back in the country according to some recruiting services and quickly flashed on the scene, running for over 1,000 yards during his freshman campaing. He was besieged by nagging injuries the next two seasons but battled his way through it to still be a very productive back, and then finished things off last year by going over 1,000 yards again, all while splitting time with Ole Miss transfer running back Quinshon Judkins. It all culminated in taking home the first expanded 12-team College Football Playoff national championship. If you watched Ohio State the last four seasons, we don't have to tell you what number Henderson wore when toting the rock in the Scarlet and Gray. His No. 32 was very recognizable except for the times when he was a blur breaking off explosive plays out of the backfield. But did you know the reason he donned the No. 32, ever since he was basically in Pee-Wee football? Watch as Henderson explains why he wore his number of choice and continues to wear it with his new team, the New England Patriots. It has everything to do with his grandfather and honoring him. Henderson grew tremendously at Ohio State both on and off the field. He went from becoming an electric and fast runner to perhaps the best blocking back in the NFL draft. He also developed into a great option in the passing game out of the backfield. More than that, he became a leader because of his faith and growth as a person. Ohio State, other teams to be compensated based on game usage in 'College Football 26'

Ohio State, other teams to be compensated based on game usage in 'College Football 26' Not only is the game of college football undergoing seismic changes, but so too, apparently, is the popular EA Sports college football franchise. The game came back from a major ten-year hiatus last year with the release of "College Football 25." You can thank Name, Image and Likeness, and the ability to compensate individual players for the inclusion in the game for the renaissance, and we all celebrated. Now, as things evolve, it appears as though schools will be paid differently for their participation in "College Football 26." Players were already compensated last season and will continue to be so with an elevated amount this season. But for this year, teams won't get a fee based on tier levels from the AP's Top 25 poll, but instead the pay will be tied to how often each of the 136 teams in the game is used, at least according to a report from Matt Liberman. The next iteration of the game is set to be released on July 10, and if those reports are true, Ohio State should benefit greatly. Though raw numbers aren't available, the Buckeyes have arguably the biggest and most followed fanbase in the sport, and there's no doubt that there's a lot of Scarlet and Gray on video game screens across the video game universe. 'For each CFB product released by EA SPORTS, we (CLC Learfield) will provide a percentage for each institution based on the games played for that institution as a percentage of the total games played across all institutions," a document obtained by Liberman stated. "This percentage of games played will become the final allocation percentage for each school that will be applied to the total gross royalties for all institutions received.' If you are like us, you can't wait to get your chance to play college football again on an Xbox Series X/S or a Playstation 5. Just remember to use Ohio State so the school maxes out its royalties for the game. I mean, every little bit helps, right? ESPN computer releases new college football FPI rankings. Where is Ohio State?

ESPN computer releases new college football FPI rankings. Where is Ohio State? There are a few things we like to keep tabs on here at Buckeyes Wire, and one of those is the ESPN Football Power Index. If you've followed us at all -- or ESPN for that matter -- the FPI needs no introduction. However, for those of you that are new to the metric the "worldwide leader" likes to use, or if you simply need a refresher, the FPI, according to ESPN's website is "a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily. FPI data from seasons prior to 2019 may not be complete." In other words, unless you have an advanced mathematics degree, step aside and don't ask how the sausage is made, just consume its savory goodness, or something like that. Of course, no metric is perfect because games and championships thankfully are played on the field, but it's still interesting to get an idea of what these mad scientist formulas spit out. It's all great timing because ESPN updated the FPI this week, and you're probably wondering where Ohio State landed. After all, that's why you're here, right? If so, we'll spill the Scarlet and Gray beans now and let you know that the Buckeyes checked in at No. 4 with an FPI overall score of 23.8. If that's a bit of a surprise to you because OSU is the defending College Football Playoff national champion and is seemingly No. 1 or No. 2 in other preseason opinions, then you might have a problem with the three teams ahead of Ohio State. Texas, OSU's first opponent this fall, topped everyone at No. 1 (28.5), followed by Georgia (26.6). and Alabama (24.2). Behind the Buckeyes and rounding out the top ten are Penn State (21.5), Oregon (20.5), Notre Dame 18.1), Texas A&M (17.9), Miami (FL) (17.5), and Tennessee (17.4). All of this can be taken with a grain of salt because rarely does the No. 1 team win the national championship, but it does speak for which teams have the most talented rosters and could make a run at some pretty special things this fall. And ... as we all know, this formula and the rankings will change drastically when the games begin to come to a high definition television or streaming device near you soon.

Ohio State football gets decision from nation's top recruit Jackson Cantwell

The country's No. 1 offensive tackle in the class of 2026 will not be donning the Scarlet and Gray. Jackson Cantwell, the No. 1 prospect in the entire class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, did have Ohio State in his final schools, but the writing seemed to be on the wall that he wouldn't be coming to the banks of the Olentangy as his commitment date neared. Instead, the Missouri native chose the Miami Hurricanes over OSU, Oregon, and Georgia on Tuesday. Advertisement You never completely know what goes into these decisions nowadays, especially with Name, Image and Likeness being a part of the equation, but Miami reportedly had the highest NIL package on the table. We've seen the Hurricanes be a player in that space before and land some pretty big-time prospects, and the same happened here. For the Buckeyes, it isn't a death blow. They still have three offensive linemen committed to the class and are still in on several other high-profile options as things continue on for a class that is currently ranked as the third best in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Team rankings. So, for now, despite not having a lot of momentum in this recruiting chase, Ohio State will chalk it up to a loss and move on looking to continue putting together one of the best classes in the country, as it seems to always do.
