Carmen Electra launches new skincare brand

Carmen Electra has launched a new skincare brand. The 53-year-old model and actress - whose GoGo Skincare venture in 2020 didn't go to plan - hasn't been deterred, and she wants greater control this time round with Electra Skincare. She told Women's Wear Daily: "I look at it like a stepping stone and a big learning process." The 'Scary Movie' and 'Baywatch' star is teaming up with Rudy Capital's Rudy Mawer for the new brand. Over the last year, they have been preparing for the three-product line launch, including the Nourishing Cleansing Balm and a Hydrating Face Moisurizer - both $39 - and the $69 Oxygenating Serum. All three are also available together in a bundle for $99. Carmen said: "It evens out your skin tone, and gives you that fresh, dewy look that we all want, whether you're wearing makeup or not. 'But I'm a glam girl. I wanted something to be able to hold makeup, and it does.' The range itself - which was created in an Australian lab - is vegan and cruelty free. For Carmen, it was also important to provide something to help simply people's beauty routines. She added: "It's so I could get out the door faster." Rudy Mawer has high hopes for the range's first year, targeting "over a million dollars" annual online revenue. There are also plans to expand and look into the retail world in the future, while he's delighted to be pairing with Carmen. Mawer said: "Carmen knows the value of high-performance skin care and she wanted a line that reflects her confidence and style. 'We brought that vision to life with clean, science-backed formulas that deliver real, visible result that Carmen and I are very proud of.' Meanwhile, Carmen previously revealed how filming 'Baywatch' by the ocean taught her how vital it is to protect your skin from the damaging rays. She told Page Six Style: 'I love the ocean! The saltwater can be very good for your skin, from exfoliating to tightening pores. 'And always applying SPF to protect my skin was an absolute must [on set].'

Carmen Electra Returns to Beauty With Electra Skincare

Carmen Electra has a new skin care brand, out now. The actress and model, 53, previously introduced GoGo Skincare in 2020. The venture ultimately wasn't a success, in part because Electra had limited control over the brand, she said. More from WWD EXCLUSIVE: Molly Sims' Yse Beauty to Enter 361 Sephora Stores Nationwide Patrick Ta to Receive WWD's International Beauty Innovator of the Year Implementing AI in the Beauty Category to Scale With Speed 'I look at it like a stepping stone and a big learning process,' she said. Electra — born Tara Leigh Patrick — started out in the music industry as Prince's protégée, before becoming known in television and film for her work in 'Baywatch' and 'Scary Movie.' Throughout the years, beauty remained a consistent passion and creating a brand had long been a dream of hers, so she's giving it another try. Electra is returning to the beauty space in collaboration with Rudy Mawer of Mawer Capital, who initiated the endeavor by reaching out to her team. A year in the making, Electra Skincare launches with a three-product line on the $39 Nourishing Cleansing Balm, $39 Hydrating Face Moisturizer and $69 Oxygenating Serum. There's a bundle of all three available for $99. 'It evens out your skin tone, and gives you that fresh, dewy look that we all want, whether you're wearing makeup or not,' Electra said of the products. 'But I'm a glam girl,' she added. 'I wanted something to be able to hold makeup, and it does.' The line is vegan and cruelty-free, and formulated in an Australian lab. The balm features murumuru butter, jojoba oil and castor oil for deep hydration, while the moisturizer blends hyaluronic acid, ligustrum lucidum seed extract, and hibiscus extract to nourish and firm the skin, and the serum combines gourd extract, hyaluronic acid and hibiscus extract to boost radiance and hydration. The collection is made to simplify beauty routines. 'It's so I could get out the door faster,' said Electra. Mawer expects Electra Skincare to generate 'over a million dollars' in annual online revenue in its first year, he told WWD, and has plans to expand to retail. 'Carmen knows the value of high-performance skin care and she wanted a line that reflects her confidence and style,' he said. Wayans quickly put those fears to rest in a new interview. The "Scary Movie" films are politically incorrect parodies of some of the most iconic horror movies in recent years. The likes of "Scream," "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "The Ring" were a few brutally skewered by the "Scary Movie" cast. The films featured disability humor, jokes about race, body image and much more. Wayans, who played Shorty Meeks in the first "Scary Movie" and its 2001 sequel, was pumped about the series returning. "After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they've been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!" he wrote on X in the announcement last October. "You have to pull from woke because that means you're aware, right? And you have, but you have to be an equal-opportunity offender and you gotta be, you know, you gotta explore both sides. So for us, I'm not taking a side or taking a side of comedy. So I don't even know what woke means." He analyzed the rest of his comedic work in the context of wokeness. "You know, if you call 'In Living Color' a woke show, but it was absolutely hilarious," he continued. "'White Chicks' was kind of a woke movie, but it was absolutely hilarious. We take these things and we go – 'Don't Be A Menace' was a very woke movie. But when it comes to humor, it's not about woke. It's about you explore the woke to find the humor, just as the way you explore the blind to find the humor. You know, there's humor everywhere. And I think they're saying, don't be PG or PC. You know, there's no holds barred. Take your gloves off and F us up. That's what we're gonna do. Everybody gets it." And they just bring it to a whole 'nother level and that's what I'm looking forward to, man." The actor said he's hoping to have some good news for fans wanting to see the original cast back in action. "You know, we're trying to bring the band back together," he responded. "We'll see. "Every time we bring a Wayans project, we're always gonna have that flavor," he told Fox News Digital. "That's just who we are. We're equal opportunity offenders, no holds barred. And we have fun and we go dark, but with kids' gloves. And the whole purpose is not to hurt feelings, it's to actually make people laugh. And even the people that, and our thing is, we try to make the people that we make fun of laugh the loudest. 'Cause flattery is the greatest form of mockery. I mean mockery is the greatest form of flattery." "And so, they've been trying to – the internet or whatever and trying to cancel us for 'White Chicks' forever, but you can't," he added.
