Jordan, Ireland discuss bilateral cooperation

Ammon News - The Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by MP Dina Basheer, met Sunday with Irish Ambassador to Jordan Marianne Bolger to explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation across multiple sectors. Basheer highlighted Ireland's supportive stance toward Jordan, particularly on the Palestinian issue, and called for increased international efforts to end the war on Gaza. She praised the growing ties between the two countries and expressed appreciation for Ireland's backing of various development and infrastructure initiatives in the Kingdom. Committee members commended the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II in championing the Palestinian cause and working to halt the war on Gaza. They also urged greater Irish support for Jordan, particularly in technical and development sectors. Bolger affirmed her country's alignment with Jordan on key issues, especially regarding the war on Gaza, and emphasized Ireland's continued support for UNRWA. She noted her country's contributions to local development programs, including youth and women's empowerment, such as the "Scientists of Tomorrow" initiative. Bolger added that Ireland has conducted climate change and agriculture-related studies in Jordanian governorates and highlighted Jordan's appeal as an investment destination. She shared that the embassy has developed a brochure promoting investment opportunities in the Kingdom. Petra
