Instead, they'll be producing an exciting new action thriller called Carthage Must Be Destroyed. The film will be directed by Ted Griffin, who is best known for writing Ocean's Eleven. The story follows a mysterious stranger who arrives in a rundown city that's controlled by criminals. Using his brains and strength, he begins to stir up trouble, turning people against each other to take down the corrupt leaders who run the place. It's expected to be a fast-paced, clever film with a dark, gritty setting. Filming is planned to begin in Rhode Island this October, and the team is currently looking for actors to bring the story to life. Although the cast hasn't been revealed yet, with such a strong production team behind it, fans are expecting big names to be involved. The movie is being made by several production companies, including Scorsese's Sikelia Productions and DiCaprio's Appian Way, along with Verdi Productions and Ketchup Entertainment. Alongside Scorsese and DiCaprio, producers Chad A. Verdi, Jennifer Davisson, Gareth West, and Christopher Donnelly are also helping to bring the project together. Chad Verdi, one of the producers, called the movie a 'powerful and exciting project" and said it was an honour to work with such a talented team. He believes that Ted Griffin's strong screenplay will make for a gripping film. Verdi Sr. will team up with Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio to film several movies in Rhode Island over the next five years, Verdi Productions announced on Tuesday, May 27. First up will be the action thriller "Carthage Must Be Destroyed," with casting already begun for filming to start in the Ocean State in October. In addition to Verdi, Scorsese and DiCaprio, "Carthage" will be produced by LBI Entertainment's Christopher Donelly and Gareth West, with Michelle Verdi, Chad Verdi Jr., Paul Luba, Jennifer Davisson, Lisa Frechette and Sera Verdi on the production team. The production companies are Sikelia Productions, Appian Way Productions, Verdi Productions, and Ketchup Entertainment. "Carthage" will be directed by Ted Griffin, writer of "Ocean's Eleven." The story follows a stranger in a rust-belt city in decline that is ruled by the criminal underworld. The stranger looks to create chaos to bring the downfall of the corrupt power structure. Scorsese and DiCaprio are executive producers; Verdi, West, Donnelly, Michelle Verdi, Chad Verdi Jr., Paul Luba, and Jennifer Davisson are producers. Lisa Frechette and Sera Verdi are also executive producers. The production companies are Sikelia Productions, Appian Way Productions, Verdi Productions, and Ketchup Entertainment, as per the outlet. Verdi Productions president Chad A. Verdi called the film "a dynamic project," and they all sparked the idea to "bring Ted's outstanding screenplay to the big screen. A new Martin Scorsese documentary highlighting the legendary filmmaker's incredible career will feature Mick Jagger, Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Steven Spielberg and Robert De Niro and more it has been revealed. The five-part documentary portrait is set to be directed by filmmaker Rebecca Miller, best known for projects like She Came To Me and Personal Velocity. While a release date for Mr. Scorsese has yet to be announced, Apple TV+ has teased that it is 'coming soon'. It will chronicle Scorsese's life and legendary career through chats with the iconic filmmaker himself, along with 'unrestricted access' to his private archives and 'never-before-seen interviews with friends, family, and creative collaborators'. Among the star-studded roster of talent speaking to Apple TV+ for the documentary are his long-time collaborators De Niro and DiCaprio as well as titans such as Daniel Day-Lewis, Steven Spielberg, Robbie Robertson, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster and Cate Blanchett. His wife Helen Morris and his children and childhood friends will also participate. Miller's documentary will also cover a large span of Scorsese's life, beginning with his student films while attending the New York University, to present day. According to Miller, the project has been in the works for several years, and is so extensive that it's changed from a single-part documentary into a five-parter. 'His work and life are so vast and so compelling that the piece evolved from one to five parts over a five-year period; crafting this documentary alongside my longtime collaborators has been one of the defining experiences of my life as a filmmaker.' Scorsese's latest output was 2023's Killers of The Flower Moon. He also had a cameo role in the opening episode of Seth Rogen's comedy Studio in which he pitches a film about the Jonestown massacre only for the movie to be unceremoniously ditched. Martin Scorsese will release Aldeas – A New Story, a full-lengthy documentary film featuring Pope Francis' 'final in-depth on-camera interview for cinema.' The film will reflect on the work of Scholas Occurrentes, a non-profit, global education project founded by Pope Francis in 2013. Part of the project has been cultivating filmmaking in communities around the world to help create 'the culture of encounter from the peripheries, gathering together the beauty of human diversity, and fostering unity in a divided world.' 'Aldeas is an extremely poetic and very constructive project because it goes to the roots of what human life is, human sociability, human conflicts… the essence of a life's journey,' Pope Francis said in a statement before his death in April. Scorsese added, 'Now, more than ever, we need to talk to each other, listen to one another cross-culturally. One of the best ways to accomplish this is by sharing the stories of who we are, reflected from our personal lives and experiences. It helps us understand and value how each of us sees the world. It was important to Pope Francis for people across the globe to exchange ideas with respect while also preserving their cultural identity, and cinema is the best medium to do that.' A press release notes, 'By empowering communities to tell their own stories and preserve their cultural legacies, the feature documentary stands as a testament to the enduring belief that creativity is not only a means of expression but a path to hope and transformation. The short films themselves will ultimately premiere in newly established local cinemas, serving as lasting hubs for cultural expression and education.' Aldeas – A New Story was produced by Scorsese along with Teresa Leveratto, Ezequiel del Corral, and Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. It was executive produced by Lisa Frechette, Romilda de Luca, Ariel Tcach, and Ariel Broitman. It was directed by Clare Tavernor and Johnny Shipley, and produced by Massive Owl Productions' Amy Foster. Cinematographers Ellen Kuras and Salvatore Totino also contributed to the film. Scorsese met with Pope Francis several times over the years. The filmmaker used their conversations to help inform his films The Last Temptation of Christ and Silence. He paid tribute to Francis following his death, saying, 'He was, in every way, a remarkable human being. He acknowledged his own failings. He radiated wisdom. He radiated goodness. He had an ironclad commitment to the good. He knew in his soul that ignorance was a terrible plague on humanity. So he never stopped learning.' He added, 'The loss for me runs deep — I was lucky enough to know him, and I will miss his presence and his warmth. The loss for the world is immense. But he left a light behind, and it can never be extinguished.' A release date for the film has not been announced, but Aldeas Scholas Films noted on Instagram that it is coming 'soon.'
