Stranger Things Trailer, Emmy Snubs, And More TV And Movie News

Welcome to Screen Time! I'm Nora, and if there's one thing you need to know about me, it's that I love watching TV and movies. I also absolutely love being absorbed in fandoms. This week in Screen Time, all I can think about is The Summer I Turned Pretty returning, and how I am ready to watch the downfall of Jeremiah Fisher. I also share what's all over my FYP — like Emmy nominations (and snubs) and the Stranger Things trailer — and what we've got going on over on BuzzFeed Celeb's YouTube channel, plus so much more. Listen, I even find time to explain which Grey's Anatomy death I cheered for. Thanks for joining me! The Summer I Turned Pretty — watch for: The love triangle. Of course. Streaming on Prime Video, new episodes every Wednesday It wouldn't be summer without The Summer I Turned Pretty. Based on Jenny Han's third book in the trilogy, the final season begins with Belly (Lola Tung) in a long-term relationship with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). As they grow up and their lives start to get more complicated, Belly must decide if Jeremiah really is "the one," or if Conrad (Christopher Briney) still has her heart. I'm personally really going to miss this cast once the season ends. Also, as someone who grew up on Twilight and The Vampire Diaries AND One Tree Hill, love triangles are just essential to teen TV, and this one feels like a return to those days. So, just to be clear, I cannot wait for another summer where I defend Conrad Fisher with my life. I Know What You Did Last Summer — watch for: Madelyn Cline's scream queen era. In theaters now Yes, Superman, Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Jurassic World Rebirth are the big summer movies right now, but I Know What You Did Last Summer deserves to be included in that conversation. Like Scream (2022), I Know What You Did Last Summer is a legacy sequel that follows a new group of friends who start receiving mysterious notes a year after covering up a fatal car accident. Directed and written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who is behind Sweet/Vicious, Someone Great, and Do Revenge, this movie brings all the fun from the original, even paying homage to it in several ways, while adding its own flair. While it's far from perfect, the new cast is so entrancing on screen together, especially Madelyn Cline and Sarah Pidgeon, who prove why they're two of the most in-demand young actors right now. Too Much — watch for: Meg Stalter's comedic timing Streaming on Netflix Created by Lena Dunham, Too Much follows Jessica (Megan Stalter), a 30-something New York workaholic reeling from a major breakup. Unable to escape her past relationship, she takes a job in London and swears off love — that is, until she meets Felix (Will Sharpe), who is a series of red flags, but their connection is impossible to ignore. If you love Meg from Hacks, it's worth watching this one to see her front and center in this romantic comedy. Plus, her chemistry with Will is excellent. What really makes this worth watching is Dunham's writing, as it feels like a welcome return to her witty banter from Girls, just set in the present-day dating world. Oh, also, the guest stars are awesome. Like, Andrew Scott, hello, sir! These are some of my favorite things from my FYP, feed, and more: Also, it has been, like, 1,000 years since a new season of Stranger Things dropped, but the final season does in fact exist, as evidenced by the teaser trailer that dropped this week: This week, over on BuzzFeed Celeb, The Summer I Turned Pretty cast — Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, Jackie Chung, and Tom Everett Scott — swung by to compete in a friendly game of Cast Wars, aka where we see how well they actually know each other. From Lola getting extremely competitive to the cast freaking out about Jackie appearing on Grey's Anatomy way back when, it was so fun. Plus, they guess Lola's favorite Taylor Swift eras, Chris's favorite rom-com, if Sean is Team Edward or Team Jacob, and much more: Also, here's a little peek at my view behind the scenes. (If you watch the video, you can even catch a glimpse of me running in and out, LOL): Where I answer YOUR questions about TV, movies, fandom, and more: Question: Which Grey's Anatomy death is the LEAST sad for you? Picking the Grey's Anatomy death that wrecked me the most is easy: Lexie Grey. But, this makes it a little more interesting because I had to think about characters I've not liked. And, let's be real, this would be easy to answer if Grey's had ever killed off Owen Hunt. And since that is not seemingly happening any time soon, my answer for this one is Reed. She died during the hospital shooting in part one of the Season 6 finale (which was actually the first episode I ever watched live), and I was honestly thankful. Again, I think I hated her because she had a one-night stand with Mark, and if it wasn't clear before, I would die for Lexie Grey. Well, that's all I've got for this week's edition of Screen Time. Come back every week to get more TV and movie recommendations, find out which celebs we're working with, and so much more! Netflix's chilling new documentary just shattered my love of cruising

I love cruise holidays, but a disturbing documentary has made me reconsider going on one again TV opinion Samantha King Content Editor Samantha King is a Content Editor for Screen Time. She covers film, TV and streaming news across Reach's titles including The Express, Mirror, Manchester Evening News and Daily Star with a focus on what under-35s are watching. She is particularly interested in writing about the horror genre. Samantha previously worked as a Creative Lead at Curiously bringing social-first celebrity and showbiz news to young audiences online. Prior to this, she headed up regional news sites Oxfordshire Live and Buckinghamshire Live, led on digital innovation at the Oxford Mail and oversaw national radio station Talk Radio's website as its Assistant Digital Editor. My first ever cruise was at the tender age of 9, and I celebrated my 10th birthday on board while sailing around the Caribbean. It was the most magical holiday I'd ever experienced, and it ignited my lifelong passion for the open sea. ‌ This holiday took place just a few years after the mysterious disappearance of Amy Bradley in 1998, something I was completely unaware of at the time. The 23-year-old vanished without a trace while on a family holiday aboard Royal Caribbean's Rhapsody of the Seas, and she has never been found. ‌ A new Netflix documentary released today (July 16), titled Amy Bradley Is Missing, delves into the events leading up to her disappearance and the ongoing frantic search for her. ‌ There are numerous theories about what happened to her, with TikTok also flooded with speculation. The two main theories suggest that she either fell overboard after a heavy night of drinking and never washed up to shore, or that she was a victim of sex trafficking and was smuggled off the ship. Both theories have compelling evidence and glaring flaws, as detailed in the Netflix documentary, reports the Mirror US. ‌ The official synopsis reads: "On March 23, 1998, 23-year-old Amy Bradley disappears without a trace from the cruise ship she and her family were vacationing on. Despite thorough searches of the ship, Amy is nowhere to be found and the cruise has already docked in their next port, Curaçao, opening the door for 2,400 passengers to explore the island and allowing Amy to potentially disappear into the crowd. "As the years pass by, possible sightings of Amy pop up in various locations from multiple people. Is it really her? Was this a tragic accident or a crime? - anything is possible. But for Amy's family - only one thing matters: bringing their daughter home alive." ‌ Now aged 30 and with four cruise holidays under my belt, I've always been taken by the sense that a cruise ship is a world entirely unto itself, blissfully free from life's pressures that await on dry land. But never did I weigh up its perils, notably how a floating metropolis in international waters is somewhat of an unregulated zone until docking. As starkly put by someone in a documentary: "If you ever want to kill somebody, take them on a cruise." The eye-opening docuseries about Amy Bradley's vanishing act made me confront my own naivety. To me, cruises had been havens, bustling with fellow holiday-goers; as a child, my parents were of the same mind, confident enough to let me roam the vessel solo. ‌ But what if my paths had crossed with someone nefarious? Or could adult me simply overindulge and topple overboard never to be seen again? While Amy Bradley's fate remains shrouded in mystery - a resolution we may never get - the swirl of hypothesises cast light on the dangers cruisegoers unwittingly face. Will I ever step foot on another cruise? The more I dwell on it, the less likely it seems.

90 Day Fiancé star opens up on what it's really like on dating show

A 90 Day Fiancé UK star has opened up about what it's really like to appear on the hit reality TV show, which has returned for a new series. A 90 Day Fiancé UK star has revealed the reality behind appearing on the programme. The latest series has landed on Discovery Plus, promising viewers a feast of explosive drama and heated clashes. Fresh couples take centre stage as they navigate the complexities of long-distance romance, tackling everything from burning jealousy to covert religious transformations. ‌ The first three episodes dropped on July 13, with subsequent instalments arriving each Sunday thereafter. Viewers have already witnessed explosive rows between one pair following a secret religious shift that eventually surfaced. ‌ Shorna, 45, maintains a long distance romance with Adnand, 25, but her conversion to Mormonism now prohibits any intimate contact before marriage. The revelation blindsided Adnand, who struggled to process the bombshell on screen. In an exclusive conversation with Reach PLC's Screen Time team, Shorna discussed the heated exchange and confirmed that viewers witnessed completely authentic scenes. Regarding his response to her announcement, she revealed: "I was shocked, I didn't expect that from him because we'd built up a connection. ‌ "I knew it was going to be a difficult conversation to have, but I didn't expect him to act the way he did." She continued: "It's all real. Whatever you see with my story, it's all real. I can say it's 100% real, nothing's made up. My faith is important to me and so is my family." ‌ Shorna's getaway to Greece with her youngest daughter took an unexpected twist when they found themselves locked out of their hotel room. In need of help, they encountered 25 year old Adnand, a charming hotel employee, reports the Express. The spark between them was undeniable as Shorna felt an "instant connection" during a ride on his golf buggy. Back in London, the pull was too strong to resist, and Shorna jetted off to Greece for a second time, enjoying eight days of romance. The couple has since maintained a long-distance love affair. Shorna candidly shared her experience with filming crews capturing every moment, including the tiffs, as she said: "At first I was like what are you doing, what are you up to but after time, getting to know the producers and the staff, they're so lovely, they make you feel at ease, it was just natural." ‌ She emphasised the authenticity of their journey, adding: "It's all natural, the emotions, the highs and lows we had, it was all natural." Defying sceptics of her age-gap romance, Shorna is determined to show that love knows no bounds as she said: "My daughters and friends were against it, I just want to prove age is just a number." Despite initial doubts, Shorna is convinced of their bond, explaining: "At first my daughter thought it was a holiday romance but I said we have the connection, we were happy. We had a whirlwind romance, we fell in love quickly." The question remains whether Shorna and Adnand can overcome their differences, with viewers eagerly awaiting the next instalment on Sunday, July 20.
