More Photo byHow to Watch Twins vs. Mariners: Date: Saturday, May 31, 2025 Time: 7:00 p.m. ET Venue: T-Mobile Park Channel: FOX (regional) Stream: Fubo (try for free) The Twins come into Saturday's matchup with a 31-25 record, but they've been inconsistent lately, going 5-5 over their last 10 games. While they've been strong at home (18-8), they've struggled on the road (13-17), which could be a factor as they head to Seattle for this one. That said, Minnesota opened the series with a big 12-6 win on Friday, highlighted by Trevor Larnach's grand slam despite a modest 1-for-4 night at the plate. Seattle, sitting at 30-26, is in a bit of a slump themselves, having lost seven of their last 10. The Mariners' recent struggles are raising eyebrows given the team's high expectations this season, especially after they dropped a series to the underwhelming 27-30 Nationals earlier in the week. Tune in to FOX (depending on your region) at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday to watch a fun matchup out of the MLB's American League when the Twins head to T-Mobile Park to face the Mariners. Umpire Facing Major Backlash After Terrible Call in Mariners Game
Umpire Facing Major Backlash After Terrible Call in Mariners Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford was having a normal season for his standards going into Thursday night's matchup with the Washington Nationals. The 30-year-old was slashing .256/.377/.350 across 52 games, slightly above his career line of .246/.341/.368 over 824 contests. He also had four homers and 20 RBI. Advertisement Crawford was having a quiet night heading into his third at-bat on Thursday as well. The former Philadelphia Phillie flew out to short in the first inning and to left in the third, but came up in the sixth down 2-0 with runners at the corners and nobody out. What happened next outraged both Crawford and fans on social media. Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (3) and home plate umpire Andy Bisig-Imagn Images The veteran took two strikes before taking a called third strike on a fastball clearly outside of the zone. He then argued with home plate umpire Andy Fletcher, who promptly ejected him. Fans demanded accountability from the league regarding bad calls. "It's so wild that umpires can be this bad at their jobs but still hold the power to make the players look like they're in the wrong," one person said. "JP has every right to be upset. There's no accountability for these guys." Advertisement "They should start throwing the umps out of the game," another said. "How stupid is a sport that doesn't let technology make the call that is so easy to make," another said. "Tennis and soccer do it. Game integrity is too important to this joke of a product." "He's been terrible on both sides, thank you JP," another said. "Umps have been terrible lately! I swear they need a buzzer to let them know when they blow a call …" another said. "This is like the fourth player ejection in one week after a missed call by the ump," another said. "Wonder if ump will face consequences… made a horrible call and then threw out starting SS of home team… unacceptable… it's like they want robot umps deep down," another said. Seattle Mariners Fall Out Of AL West Lead After Big Loss
Seattle Mariners Fall Out Of AL West Lead After Big Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's been a good run for the Seattle Mariners atop the American League West Division standings. But that's over now after Seattle suffered a big blow, losing to the Minnesota Twins 12-6 in extra innings on Friday, May 30. Advertisement Carlos Correa's two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning broke a tie, setting up the Twins for a huge six-run outburst. The Twins scored three runs in their half of the ninth inning, then silenced Mariners fans with their 10th-inning antics. Heading into Saturday's action, the Mariners now sit a half-game behind - who else? - the Houston Astros. Yanier Diaz's game-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth carried the Astros over the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 on Friday. Cal Raleigh continued his smoking-hot home run pace for Mariners on Friday night Still, the Mariners had something to smile about despite the setback. Cal Raleigh, the "Big Dumper" himself, broke the record for most home runs by a catcher before the end of May. He slammed two homers at T-Mobile Park, giving him 21 total homers this season, reported. Advertisement Raleigh's three-run homer in the first inning put Seattle on top, then he added a two-run bomb in the eighth inning. He now has 11 homers in May alone, which puts him in second place among MLB homer leaders for the month behind Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani. If Raleigh can connect on another dinger or two on Saturday, then his homer numbers will go up, of course. Still, Raleigh probably would have traded his homers for a victory at home on Friday night.
