Uchenna Nwosu to bein training camp on Physically Unable to Perform list

Injury woes continue for Seattle Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu. On Thursday afternoon, the Seahawks announced the pass rush specialist would begin training camp placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Nwosu had surgery on his knee this past offseason, and clearly he is still recovering from the procedure. Nwosu has battled injuries for the past two years. His 2022 season was strong, recording 9.5 sacks in all 17 games (plus the Wild Card round) played. For his efforts, the Seahawks rewarded him with a three-year extension during the 2023 offseason. Unfortunately, Nwosu was limited to only six games that year due to a pectoral injury. The 2024 campaign wasn't much better, as a knee injury suffered in the preseason prevented him from playing in the first four games. Upon his return, Nwosu was immediately re-injured and missed the following seven games as well. Once again, Nwosu was limited to only six games last season, but did play in the final five. We at Seahawks Wire will continue to monitor the situation and give updates as they occur. Nwosu is an incredibly talented player when healthy, and because of the injuries, it seems he is being forgotten as an asset for this defensive line. Should his body heal successfully and he finds his 2022 self, this defensive front could become even more suffocating for Seattle.

Seahawks just received a break in Elijah Arroyo contract negotiations

49ers second-round DT Alfred Collins, the 43rd overall pick in the draft, has agreed to terms. He's the first of 30 round-two dominoes to fall. The Seattle Seahawks are scheduled to report to training camp next week. Meanwhile rookie second-round picks Nick Emmanwori and Elijah Arroyo have yet to sign their rookie deals over a league-wide dispute in guaranteed money in second-round contracts. The current CBA wouldn't allow Emmanwori or Arroyo to attend camp without signed deals, meaning potential holdouts are looming. The Houston Texans threw negotiations with second-round picks into disarray after making the unprecedented decision to sign No. 35 overall selection Jayden Higgins to a fully-guaranteed contract. The Cleveland Browns followed suit with their 33rd pick Carson Schwesinger. The other 30 second-round draftees had been unsigned ever since, and the Seahawks are especially in a pickle with Emmanwori, who was the pick right after Schwesinger and Higgins. Though the Emmanwori negotiations remain complicated, Seahawks GM John Schneider just caught a break in talks with Arroyo, his other second-round pick, and he has a division rival to thank. The San Francisco 49ers signed second-round pick Alfred Collins to his rookie contract on Wednesday evening. Collins, the 43rd pick, did NOT receive a fully-guaranteed contract. Collins saw roughly 87% of his rookie deal guaranteed, according to Pro Football Talk. That's approximately 10% more than the 43rd pick got in guarantees last year, per Mike Florio. With Arroyo being drafted seven picks (No. 50) after Collins, he can no longer realistically expect to sign a fully-guaranteed contract. The Collins deal serves as a significant breakthrough. Schneider should manage to sign Arroyo to a non-guaranteed rookie deal, one that contains a slight uptick in guarantees compared to last year's 50th pick (following the Collins precedence). Unfortunately for Schneider, the Emmanwori negotiations remain complicated. The Seahawks may have to cave on that front. At least the Arroyo negotiations should be moving in the right direction after the 49ers' deal with Collins.

3 Seattle Seahawks make top 100 list

Various publications have been releasing player rankings lists in recent weeks. ESPN has been dropping their top-10 positional rankings daily. The NFL Network is slowly revealing their top 100 players of 2024 list. These rankings are often divisive and argumentative. Pro Football Network recently joined the fray. PFN recently revealed their top 100 players heading into 2025. Three Seattle Seahawks players made the cut, with Devon Witherspoon at No. 78, Julian Love at No. 55, and Leonard Williams at No. 25! "The Seattle Seahawks boast one of the best cornerback duos in the NFL, and Devon Witherspoon has quickly established himself as a rising star," Brandon Austin wrote. "Witherspoon's all-around skill set separates him from other players in his tier of corners." Witherspoon started all 17 contests last season. The former Illinois standout recorded 98 tackles, six tackles for loss, and eight pass breakups. Pro Football Focus assigned Witherspoon an elite run-stopping grade of 90.0, as he posted a position-high 39 defensive stops. "The Seattle Seahawks may have been the best thing to happen to Julian Love," Austin continued. "The former fourth-round pick from Notre Dame has enjoyed the two most productive seasons of his career with the Seahawks, including a Pro Bowl campaign in 2023. The Seahawks boasted a top-10 unit in Defense+ last season, with the secondary playing a huge role in the unit's success. Love's physicality and ball production are valuable assets." "Leonard Williams powered the Seahawks' defensive front in 2024, finishing with 55 total pressures, ranking sixth among all interior defenders. Williams combines veteran savvy with high-level production. As Seattle aims to build on a strong 2024 showing, Williams' presence in the trenches will be vital for success." Love logged 95% of Seattle's defensive snaps last season. The workhorse safety accumulated 106 tackles, three for a loss, three interceptions, and a career-high 12 pass breakups. Williams led the Seahawks in sacks and qualified for the Pro Bowl as a result.

Seahawks urged to trade offensive star for draft picks

There's one Seattle Seahawks star who has been the frequent subject of recent trade rumors. That's running back Kenneth Walker. Another writer, Bleacher Report's Matt Holder, has hopped aboard the Walker trade train, too. He thinks the Seahawks should specifically trade Walker in exchange for future draft assets. "Walker is entering a contract year and has had declining production since his rookie season," Holder writes. "Meanwhile, Zach Charbonnet was more efficient in 2024, averaging half a yard more per carry than Walker. Also, Damien Martinez has the makings of being a steal as a seventh-round pick. The Seahawks might want to see how the running backs look in training camp before being completely comfortable making a move. But, especially if he doesn't have a future with the club, getting something for the 2022 second-round pick wouldn't be a bad idea." MORE: Von Miller makes his free agency decision Nothing Holder says is wrong. It really just sums up the modern plight of the RB. By the time it's your turn to get paid, you're being moved on from. There's almost no chance the Seahawks give Walker a hefty contract, so moving on now might really be the correct call. NFL Fans React To Washington Commanders' New Uniforms

NFL Fans React To Washington Commanders' New Uniforms originally appeared on The Spun. When the Washington Commanders first rebranded several years ago they also made a number of sweeping changes to their uniforms that largely shied away from their past. But some new uniforms that the team introduced today will be embracing their storied history. On Wednesday, the Commanders unveiled their new uniforms for the coming season. It's an almost thread-for-thread replica of their old uniforms, featuring a strong blend of burgundy, gold and white. "Weaving past and present We're adding back the Super Bowl Era threads to our uniform rotation," the team announced. The uniforms will be worn for three games to celebrate their Super Bowl wins. They will be worn on Sunday Night Football in Weeks 9 and 13 against the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos respectively, and in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas. "Throwing it back. Running it forward," the team announced. But as is so often the case, diehard fans of the Washington Commanders weren't satisfied with the change. Many have taken to the comments to once again demand that the team be restored to its previous nickname or logo: "I love the unis, we just need the logo back some folks can argue the name is what it is but to me it is racist that we can't honor natives by using the old logo. What is racist about the logo? Indians logo was racist lol. Not a image of a actual native tho," one user argued. "Only 3 games out of 17??? Come on guys nobody wants to see that other white uniform ever again. This should be our full time helmet and make the burgundy uniform match," wrote another. "I suggest Josh Harris and his group request reps from native American tribes across the country to help the team come up with an acceptable way to honor them with a new name, logo and imagery. As smart as Harris is, can't help but think they'd be able to work something out." "You guys nailed it, although it shouldn't have ever left. Feels like home again!" It seems like the ship may have sailed on restoring Washington's nickname. But with the way they played last year, returning to the glory days isn't out of the Fans React To Washington Commanders' New Uniforms first appeared on The Spun on Jul 9, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 9, 2025, where it first appeared.
