Motoring influencer and brother jailed for false police report in Muar

MUAR: Motoring influencer Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin, known as 'Ija,' and his younger brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, were each sentenced to one month in jail and fined RM1,500 by the Magistrates' Court for lodging a false police report. Both pleaded guilty to their charges before Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar. Tengku Nizaruddin, 38, was charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code for abetting his brother in providing false information to police, claiming he had gone missing on July 14. His brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, 30, was separately charged under Section 182 for filing the false report at Lenga police station. Deputy public prosecutors Nur Ameerah Allaudeen and Yasmin Mohd Piah argued for both imprisonment and a fine, stressing the offence wasted police and fire department resources. 'This case has drawn public attention, and we hope it serves as a deterrent,' they said. Defence lawyer Nor Hafizah Abdullah, representing both brothers, pleaded for leniency, stating they were remorseful, had apologised, and were first-time offenders. 'They are breadwinners with families and cooperated fully with authorities,' she said. The false report led to a search operation after Tengku Nizaruddin's car was found submerged in Sungai Tui, Bukit Kepong. Investigations later revealed he had staged the incident, left for Thailand via Padang Besar, and booked a flight to Hat Yai. CCTV footage also placed him at Seremban Bus Terminal. - Bernama

Employer thwarts murder attempt as man tries to stab ex-girlfriend at Nalasopara medical shop

MUMBAI: A 22-year-old man was arrested for attempting to murder his former girlfriend with a chopper at her workplace in Nalasopara West on Tuesday evening. The swift intervention of her employer not only thwarted the attack but likely saved the 20-year-old woman's life. Employer thwarts murder attempt as man tries to stab ex-girlfriend at Nalasopara medical shop The accused, Sohail Shaikh, allegedly stormed into the Lotus Medical Store near Karari Mills, where the woman worked, and attempted to stab her following a bitter breakup. The medical store is owned by 33-year-old Vishal Vyavar, who suffered serious injuries while intervening. According to police, Shaikh — a resident of the same locality — had been harassing the woman for the past three months, repeatedly threatening her after she ended the relationship. On Tuesday, he first visited her home looking for her, but upon learning she was at work, he made his way to the shop. 'He entered the store and started abusing her. When she asked him to leave, he pulled out a chopper from his pocket and lunged at her,' said an officer from the Nalasopara police station. At that critical moment, Vyavar walked into the store and wrestled the weapon out of Shaikh's hands, stopping the blow aimed at the woman's stomach. In the scuffle, Shaikh slashed Vyavar's hand and face before fleeing the scene. The woman raised an alarm, alerting passersby and the police. Vyavar, bleeding from multiple injuries, was rushed to Petite Hospital in Vasai. Based on the woman's statement and eyewitness accounts, a case of attempted murder under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against Shaikh, who was later arrested. 'Shaikh had been harassing her for weeks. We had warned him earlier. On Tuesday, he came home first, looking for her. When he found out she was at work, he rushed off. We called the police but by then it was too late,' said her uncle, Ganesh Ghadigaonkar. Senior inspector Vishal Valvi of the Nalasopara police confirmed Shaikh's arrest late Tuesday night. 'We are interrogating him and further investigation is underway,' Valvi said.

Motoring influencer suspected of faking disappearance, fleeing abroad

MUAR — Motoring influencer Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin (picture), 38, who was reported missing after his car allegedly plunged into Sungai Tui, Jalan Bukit Kepong here last Monday, is believed to have staged his own disappearance and fled to a neighbouring country. Muar police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said investigations showed that the suspect's younger brother was also involved by providing false information for personal reasons. He said Tengku Abd Aziz, 30, lodged a report at the Lenga Police Station claiming that his brother, also known as Ija, went missing while heading to Muar to repair his car. 'A search and rescue operation was launched after the case was classified as a missing person. However, further investigation raised doubts about the report, and police believe the disappearance was fabricated. 'Investigations also revealed that the suspect had submerged his wife's Perodua Axia in the river before fleeing to a neighbouring country. His brother later admitted to being complicit and pretending to help with the search,' he said in a statement today. Raiz Mukhliz said statements from both individuals have been recorded and further investigation will proceed once police obtain an order to investigate (OTI) from the deputy public prosecutor. The case is being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information and Section 109 for abetting a criminal offence. Earlier, media reported that the man, a businessman and vehicle accessories shop owner, had gone missing after the Perodua Axia he was driving was believed to have plunged into the river. — BERNAMA
