With 'Something Beautiful,' Miley Cyrus balances dance fervor and overly stylized pop

Life is not all glamour among the world's pop divas. After Céline Dion's health struggles with stiff-person syndrome and Selena Gomez opening up about her bipolar disorder, Miley Cyrus revealed on May 21 in an Apple Music podcast that she suffers from Reinke's edema. This rare condition has made the Tennessee-born singer's voice increasingly deep and raspy. Cyrus acknowledged the illness could affect her next tour, which has yet to be announced. Yet, the former Disney star (from the series Hannah Montana), now 32 years old, did not seem hindered during her televised performance in February for the anniversary episode of Saturday Night Live. With a powerful voice, she notably performed a duet with Brittany Howard (formerly of Alabama Shakes) of "Nothing Compares 2U", written by Prince. In the past, the "Flowers" singer – whose 2023 hit became a worldwide phenomenon – explored a range of genres: R'n'B-influenced pop on Bangerz (2013); country pop with Younger Now (2017); and FM rock on Plastic Hearts (2020). For Something Beautiful, the aesthetic leans into 1990s glamour and fashion. The album cover features the pop icon transformed into a cabaret revue leader, dressed in an outfit designed by Thierry Mugler in 1997.

Benny Blanco lifts the lid on ridiculous fight with fiancée Selena Gomez while recording joint album I Said I Love You First: 'She was upset'

Benny Blanco - real name Benjamin Joseph Levin - has gotten candid about the only fight he had with his fiancée Selena Gomez while recording their new joint album. The producer, 37, who recently released the 14-track album I Said I Love You First with the Calm Down hitmaker, appeared on The Project on Wednesday night where he reflected on the record-making process and working with his soon-to-be wife. Benny revealed that it was smooth sailing making an album with mega star Selena, adding that she is 'the best thing' to have ever happened to him. However, he did lift the lid on one small argument the couple had while recording the album - and it was about birds. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'She was upset that there were birds outside of the window that were chirping when she recorded and I didn't hear the birds. 'And then whenever I walked in, the birds were not happening,' he laughed. 'So the birds were our only disagreement the entire time.' Despite the couple's small spat, the multi award-wining producer dubbed Selena his 'best friend'. 'They say: "when you know, you know" and I never believed that my whole life - but I actually met my best friend.' 'If we were the only people left on earth, I would be completely fine spending every moment with nobody else in the world except her,' he sweetly said. Benny and Selena confirmed their relationship in December 2023, with the pair getting engaged a year later. 'Forever starts now,' Selena wrote at the time, showing off her sparkling diamond ring. Speaking of the upcoming nuptials, The Only Murders in the Building star admitted she's planning to ditch the classic bride and groom dance at their reception because she's too shy. 'I don't think we're looking at having one of those 'cause they're a little — I feel embarrassed,' she said on an episode of Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware. But while there won't be a traditional first dance, Selena revealed she's making room for a deeply meaningful moment — a special dance with her grandfather. 'He never got a chance to walk my mom down the aisle,' she shared. 'I wanted to give [my grandfather] the opportunity to have that.' Selena and Benny have known each other for over a decade — since 2013, when he first met her mom, Mandy Teefey. He later co-produced two of her hits Kill Em With Kindness and Same Old Love, from her 2015 album Revival. Their new album I Said I Love You First also includes a slew of featured artists such as Gracie Abrams, The Marias, GloRilla, Tainy and J Balvin, with Finneas and Charli XCX also contributing as songwriters.

Aldi Is Facing A Lawsuit Over These Copycat Snacks

Copycat snacks are usually a less expensive, slightly different-tasting version of a popular cookie or cracker with similar branding to the original. Many copycat snacks have long been available at Aldi stores, but there's a notable issue with the way the grocery store is presenting them. Snack giant Mondelēz International has officially entered the chat with a lawsuit alleging that Aldi's snacks are packaged in a way that deliberately copies its successful brands like Chips Ahoy!, Nilla Wafers, Nutter Butter, Oreo, Premium saltine crackers, Ritz, and Wheat Thins. On May 27, 2025, the lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and says that Aldi shoppers may associate the familiar branding with snacks they already know and love — influencing their overall buying decision. Mondelēz is seeking damages and the right to bar Aldi from using the branding for its products going forward. The Aldi private label snacks aren't new and have likely been available to shoppers in every state that has an Aldi location. Mondelēz maintains that the company has reached out prior to filing the lawsuit. The copycat snack lawsuit isn't the first one the grocery chain has faced, either. In 2023, Aldi faced a $10 million mislabeling class action lawsuit. Read more: 7 Must-Buy Aldi Items For First-Time Customers Mondelēz International's lawsuit against Aldi draws attention to the importance of packaging and brand association. Oreo cookies are a great example of this. In 2025, Oreo stands as the number one cookie in the United States, and aside from occasional special releases when Oreo collabs with celebrities like Selena Gomez, the iconic blue appearance has been around since 1998. With the cookie's popularity and longevity, most shoppers are very familiar with the look of the package and associate the distinct color with the Oreos they know and love. This emotional connection to already established brands is great for sales, but other companies can indeed capitalize on that by creating similar treats with similar packaging to win over the hearts (and wallets) of consumers. In a 2018 study by Ipsos, it was shown that 72% of American shoppers are influenced by the design of a product's package. The lawsuit against Aldi spans 36 pages and alleges that the nearly identical appearance of the copycat snacks -- like the chain's yellow box of "Thin Wheats" -- is an attempt at taking advantage of the longstanding Mondelēz reputation with shoppers. Justin Bieber Finally Addresses Rumors He Was 1 of Diddy's Victims: 'There Are Individuals...'The interaction comes after Justin Bieber wrote a scathing Instagram caption about his wife. 'Yo this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight. I told hails that she would never be on the cover of vogue. Yikes I know, so mean,' he captioned a post of her Vogue cover, which has since been edited. 'For some reason because I felt so disrespected I thought I gotta get even,' he continued. 'I think as we mature we realize that we're not helping anything by getting even … So baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn't get a vogue cover cuz clearly i was sadly mistaken.' In the same Vogue interview, Hailey Bieber criticized people who were doubting their marriage and wanted them to get a divorce. 'Being postpartum is the most sensitive time I've ever gone through in my life, and learning a new version of myself is very difficult,' Hailey told the fashion magazine. 'And to be doing that all the while going on the internet every day and people being like, 'They're getting divorced' and 'They're this' and 'They're not happy,' it is such a mindf—-. I cannot even begin to explain it. It's a crazy life to live.' Justin also added his two cents in the cover story. 'I've done a lot of dumb things in my life,' he told the publication via email. 'but the smartest thing I've ever done was marry Hailey.' 'She's in the spotlight, and has the attention because of her effortless knack for style, business, art and fashion,' he added. 'And the way she makes being a mom and wife look easy.' Selena Gomez famously dated Justin Bieber on-and-off from 2009 to 2018. He later married Hailey in a courthouse wedding in September 2018, while Selena Gomez is currently engaged to Benny Blanco. There were ongoing rumors that Selena and Hailey had social media beef, which was squashed by Selena. 'Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,' the singer wrote via Instagram Story statement. 'This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.' Get the Farm Rio colourful, designer look, loved by celebs for over half the price this summer

If you want to inject a sprinkle of sunshine, a flurry of fun and a whole lot of carnival into your holiday wardrobe then Brazilian Label Farm Rio has it all. Banana prints dresses, Toucan T-shirts and red-hot chilly rompers all feature in their fun-in-the-sun designs. 5 Born out of a Brazilian market stall in 1997 by two friends, Kátia Barros and Marcello Bastos, Farm Rio's famous prints are a love letter to Rio's de Janeiro's vibrant sun-kissed style. Loved by the likes of Selena Gomez and Priyanka Chopra the brand has infiltrated the UK and most recently made its way into Selfridges. However, the designs do come with a price tag with dresses often retailing for hundreds of pounds. If you love the style, but don't have the budget then the high street is full of alternative options to give you the same look. So, whether you are heading to Copacabana Beach or just popping to Croydon for a coffee this summer the fashion team are here to show you how you can get the Farm Rio look for not as much buck. Tracey Lea Sayer, 53, Fashion Director My obsession with Farm Rio knows no bounds but unfortunately my budget doesn't always stretch that far, not even on Vinted. In the summer I always become obsessed with colours and prints. I start dreaming of holidays from May onwards and can't stop browsing the Farm Rio website. Luckily the high street is all over this trend with prices to suit every budget. I have chosen this gorgeous mid-price range co-ord from Reiss. The lily and lemon print makes me think of soaking up the sunshine on a terrace, drinking a G&T while reading a new best-seller. Total bliss. Emily, 25, Fashion Assistant 5 Dress, £150, Forever New - BUY NOW Bag, £59.99, Zara - BUY NOW Bag charm, £19.99, Parfois - BUY NOW I'm a big fan of summer dressing, and Farm Rio always gets it right, though their prices are a bit out of reach for me. Thankfully, the high street is full of budget-friendly, boho-inspired pieces that look just as good. This printed dress from Forever New is available in a midi and mini length and looks like it could be designer. The pattern is stunning and super detailed and I'm obsessed with the red bow straps. Plus it's super versatile, you could style it over a white baby tee with sandals for a daytime look or add gold wedges like I have for an evening on holiday. I finished the outfit with a stack of colourful bangles and a pearl bag from Zara. All of their pieces are fun, bright and just ooze holiday and hot weather style - what's not to love, aye? Clemmie Fieldsend, 34, Fashion Editor Despite having a mostly neutral wardrobe, I do love Farm Rio. My personal style does tend to steer away from over the top, statement frocks but that doesn't mean I can't channel the brand. Punchy colour and tropical prints are at the heart of Farm Rio and this shorts and cardi combination embodies that. This cardigan from Never Fully Dressed, who have heaps of looks similar to Farm Rio, is more me. Holiday inspired detailing I can wear on cool summer evenings and I'm in love with this bright green shade. Topped off with a lot of texture, like this amazing bag from Reserved and shoes from Mango. Finish with gold jewellery and my go-to cat-eye sunglasses and get me to Rio. Abby McHale, 30, Deputy Fashion Editor Summer is my favourite season to dress for and this kind of style just screams holiday. The colours, the prints, all the accessories, it's such a fun style to play around with. River Island is smashing its summer looks currently and its new range with Atlas is really hitting the spot. I'm obsessed with this asymmetric dress from the collection, the print is so vibrant and fun. Paired with some sun jewellery, a pair of bright heels and a raffia bag - now all I need to do is book another holiday. Why you should always buy a dupe over designer... Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend says it's time fashion snobs stopped looking down their noses at affordable versions of designer buys. Bargain US supermarket Walmart became a social media sensation when its £60 dupe of Hermès' Birkin bag, dubbed the Wirkin, went viral. Influencer @styledbykristi gushed: "Eighty dollars (£60), you can pretend that you got a Birkin. I mean, everyone will probably know it's not, because who the hell has the money to spend on the real Birkin? Not me.' Me neither. And why bother? I would never spend that on a designer bag (although if someone wants to buy one for me, that's a different story). Plus, if I splashed that much, I'd feel I was being ripped off... We've all been told how the leading brands use the finest leather, thread, dyes and craftsmanship in the world. But all that is inflated by fashion houses to create the desired illusion of exclusivity. Just last year, Dior came under investigation for paying £44 to assemble a bag that sells for £2,000. So while you might think you are paying for top-level craftsmanship carried out by a true artisan, chances are the poorly paid workers are not seeing any of your hard-earned cash. Dupes — not to be mistaken for knock-offs that copy everything from the logo to the inside label — are a more practical and all-round sensible way to go. I bought my first when I was 18. It lasted me four years and only broke after I wore it in the shower. And these days, British high streets have plenty of dupes. In the past three years, Marks & Spencer, H&M and Mango have all seen huge spikes in sales thanks to their canny copies. They use the same viral, must-have marketing tactics that pricey brands have. Fashion folk will tell you that you are making an investment and buying a 'heritage piece' and will turn their noses up at a high street equivalent. But we've been wearing looks inspired by catwalk designers for decades. If we can buy a bag that's the spitting image of the pricier version, but doesn't mean you have to remortgage, why not?
