‘Not enemies, just siblings': Negeri Sembilan PKR leaders seek to heal party rifts in Seremban meet
SEREMBAN, July 21 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim spent nearly an hour meeting Negeri Sembilan PKR members during his Party Organisation Strengthening Seminar and Presidential Tour for the state at a hotel here yesterday. The closed-door session with the PKR president, attended by nearly 1,000 party members, was also joined by party vice-presidents Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who is also Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang, and Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri R. Ramanan. Also present were PKR Secretary-General Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, Women's wing chief Fadhlina Sidek, and Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Munim. Following the main programme, Anwar held a closed-door meeting with Negeri Sembilan PKR division heads at the same hotel. Fuziah, when met, said the programme is part of a nationwide tour aimed at strengthening party solidarity and reuniting grassroots leadership across the country. The Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living added that the meeting with division leaders included all division heads in the state, whether winners or losers in the party's recent internal elections. 'We want to bring everyone back together, because there's a lot of work to be done. We are not fighting enemies-we are having disputes among siblings. Therefore, unity and togetherness are crucial to move the party forward,' she said. On another note, Fuziah said the PKR president also stressed that there is no issue of membership suspension involving nine of its Members of Parliament. She said the Prime Minister explained that the matter does not arise as all the MPs were merely voicing their views on people's issues. 'The party president clarified that the issue does not arise, as these are MPs who have a right to raise matters concerning the people. It's just that sometimes, criticism should be discussed beforehand… the situation does not warrant suspension of membership,' she said. Previously, media reports highlighted calls from within PKR, including division heads, for disciplinary action such as suspension to be taken against Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and eight other PKR MPs over their criticism regarding appointments in the judiciary. — Bernama

Police: Two kids found on Seremban road weren't abandoned, wandered off while dad slept
KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 — Police said two children shown in a viral video walking by the roadside in Seremban were not abandoned, but had slipped out of their home without their parents realising. The children left their home while their father was asleep and their mother at work, according to initial investigations. The case came to light after a video showing the pair near Section 2, Garden Avenue, began circulating online. Concerned residents quickly alerted the police, who responded promptly to the scene. Officers took the children to Seremban 2 police station for identity verification and protection. 'Following a physical examination by the police of the children concerned, no injuries or any suspicious signs were found,' district police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din said in a statement. The authorities later confirmed that the children and their parents are Myanmar citizens. Police managed to trace the parents and safely reunited them with their children. Mohamad Hatta also said the children had wandered off without any ill intent. He then urged parents to secure their homes and avoid leaving small children unattended.

Mum loses final appeal for defaming ‘Datuk' sons in FB video
The Court of Appeal ruled that the appellant's defence of justification and fair comment was not applicable. PUTRAJAYA : A mother who defamed her two businessmen sons, both of whom have 'Datuk' titles, has lost in her final appeal to set aside the finding of liability and payment of RM200,000 in damages. A three-member Court of Appeal bench chaired by Justice Azimah Omar said the High Court did not err in upholding a sessions court ruling that VT Menaka had lowered the reputation of her sons, M Natarajen and M Satishkumar, through a video posted on Facebook. 'There is no appealable error that warrants appellate intervention. Unfortunately, the sons had to take their mother to court,' she said, adding that the plaintiffs had proved all the elements of libel. Azimah said the 30-minute video in Tamil with a derogatory caption had tarnished the reputation of Menaka's sons. 'The appellant's defence of justification and fair comment is also not applicable,' said the judge, who heard the appeal with Justices Wong Kian Kheong and Ismail Brahim. The bench also ordered Menaka, 67, to pay RM20,000 in costs to her sons. However, lawyer M Manoharan, representing Natarajen,42, and Satishkumar, 41 said Menaka was classified as bankrupt after she had failed to pay the judgment sum and costs of RM10,750 as ordered by the Seremban sessions court in 2023. The mother was ordered to pay RM100,000 in damages each to the sons. 'She filed this appeal after obtaining consent from the insolvency department,' he said. In the posting made on Sept 19, 2020, Menaka claimed that her sons were 'big time' criminals, had forged her signature to remove her as a director of their family company, Linsun Group of Companies Malaysia, and wanted to kill her with a pistol. Lawyer Asmawi Ismail appeared for Menaka.
