Batu Pahat couple dies after car hits trailer at traffic light
PETALING JAYA: A married couple tragically lost their lives after their vehicle collided with the rear of a trailer at a traffic light intersection on Jalan Bindu, Tongkang Pechah, Johor yesterday morning. Batu Pahat district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, reported that the incident occurred at 9.30am, Buletin TV3 reported. The victims were identified as Mazalan Balia, 69, and his wife, Radin Pauziyah Radin Ahmad, 75. Mazalan passed away at noon due to internal injuries, followed by his wife at 1.45pm due to severe injuries on her head, rib, and right leg. Investigations revealed that the trailer, driven by a 44-year-old man, had stopped at the traffic light intersection when the couple's car collided with its rear. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.

BATU PAHAT: A husband and wife were killed after the vehicle they were in crashed into the back of a trailer at a traffic-light junction in Jalan Bindu, Tongkang Pechah, yesterday morning. Batu Pahat police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the 9.30am incident claimed the lives of Mazalan Balia, 69, and his wife, Radin Pauziyah Radin Ahmad, 75. He said Mazalan died at noon from severe internal injuries, followed by his wife at 1.45pm due to head, rib and right leg injuries. "Investigations revealed that the accident happened when a trailer, driven by a 44-year-old man, was heading from Bindu to Tongkang Pechah and had stopped at a traffic-light junction. "Suddenly, the couple's car crashed into the back of the trailer." The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Man Nabbed In RM1.6 Mln Drug Bust
BATU PAHAT, May 17 (Bernama) -- A 33-year-old man was arrested along with drugs worth RM1.6 million during a raid on a house in Taman Sri Mulia here on Wednesday. Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the raid was carried out at around 7.45 pm based on information and intelligence regarding the suspect, who was believed to have been actively distributing drugs for the past month. He said that during the inspection, officers found powder suspected to be ecstasy weighing approximately 9.4 kilogrammes with an estimated value of RM1.58 million, and a substance believed to be ketamine weighing around 460 grammes and worth about RM23,000.

Man nabbed in RM1.6 mln drug bust
BATU PAHAT: A 33-year-old man was arrested along with drugs worth RM1.6 million during a raid on a house in Taman Sri Mulia here on Wednesday. Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the raid was carried out at around 7.45 pm based on information and intelligence regarding the suspect, who was believed to have been actively distributing drugs for the past month. He said that during the inspection, officers found powder suspected to be ecstasy weighing approximately 9.4 kilogrammes with an estimated value of RM1.58 million, and a substance believed to be ketamine weighing around 460 grammes and worth about RM23,000. 'The suspect, who acted alone, had turned the premises into a storage and repackaging site. If successfully distributed, the drugs could have been used by around 47,000 addicts. 'A urine test on the suspect returned negative for drugs, and he has no prior criminal record,' he said in a statement today. In addition to the drugs, police also seized a car and RM45,000 in cash. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and the suspect has been remanded for 12 days until Monday.
