Photo: Maarten Straetemans/BELGA/AFP South African youngster Shandre Campbell announced his arrival on the big stage when he scored a stoppage-time winner in Club Brugge's Belgian Pro League game against Zulte Waregem on Saturday. With time running out and the match headed towards a goalless draw, the former SuperSport United sensation came off the bench in the 83rd minute as Nicky Hayen looked to shake things up. Deep in stoppage time, Campbell picked up the ball well outside the 18-yard area and fired from distance, beating the goalkeeper to give Brugge a famous 1-0 win. It was Campbell's first senior goal for the club since moving to Belgium at the beginning of last season. After the game, Hayen revealed that his reasoning for bringing on Campbell was that he had the ability to beat the low block, which had worked well for Zulte Waregem the previous week against Anderlecht.

Brugge star in Rangers admission after narrow Saturday win
Rangers face the Belgians in a huge Champions League play-off with the first leg at Ibrox. The visitors were far from impressive at the weekend when they required a 92nd minute wonder goal from 20-year-old South African winger Shandre Campbell to secure a 1-0 win at Zulte Waregem. And 32-year-old defender Mechele wants his side to improve at Ibrox. He said: "That gives us confidence for the match at Rangers. Read more: "The games are coming quickly, we just need to get into that rhythm. Everyone is getting back into their best form, so that is good. "But we still need to work on some of our mistakes and the tempo needs to be a bit higher, but our game is improving. "It was a great victory, but we know we need to be better this week in Glasgow." And delighted manager Nicky Hayen - who rested star man Carlos Forbs ahead of the play-offs - praised his young match winner ahead of their trip to Scotland. He said: "His goal was a stroke of genius. "But it was a very difficult match for us if I am being honest. "We know how to break through Zulte Waregem's low block, but we needed to pick up the pace. "We need the right players to run deep, provide support, and collect the passes. "But we will keep working hard and improving."
