Prayagraj leads in formation of ‘Gram Sangathans' across state
Prayagraj: The Sangam City has topped the chart for forming 'Gram Sangathan' across the state to make women self-reliant and empowered in rural areas. The campaign to form Gram Sangathan (village organisation) was taken up as these groups act as a link between individual self-help groups (SHGs) and higher-level federations, like the Cluster Level Federation (CLF), providing support, training, and access to resources. The state govt has stressed forming 'Gram Sangathans' to strengthen and support self-help groups (SHGs) at the village level. These Gram Sangathan also play a crucial role in capacity building, providing training, and helping with financial management for the SHGs. Moreover, Gram Sangathans are vital for the success of NRLM's objectives by ensuring that the benefits of the programme reach the grassroot level through well-organised and supported self-help groups. Officials claimed that the National Rural Livelihood Mission proved an effective medium to make rural women more self-reliant and connect them with self-employment in the state. Under this, self-help groups of women were formed in villages, and to make their role more effective, a village organisation is formed by joining several groups of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 20.
