Indian all-party delegation discusses counter-terrorism cooperation with Egypt's Foreign Affairs Council
Cairo [Egypt], June 3 (ANI): A Group 7 delegation of Indian parliamentarians, led by Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule, met with Egypt's Foreign Affairs Council in Cairo, engaging in comprehensive discussions on counter-terrorism and global security collaboration. The delegation arrived at Cairo International Airport on Monday as part of a multi-nation diplomatic visit and was received by the Ambassador of India to Egypt, Suresh K Reddy. Former Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Council, Mohamed Orabi, lauded India's measured and constructive approach to recent global crises, particularly those linked to terrorism. 'Egypt has always appreciated Indian policy, and I think your prudent approach to the last crisis was very appreciated. We suffered a lot from terrorism in many shapes and means. Any attempts or any policy to curb terrorist attacks anywhere will be supported by Egypt,' said Orabi. The Indian side highlighted concerns around cross-border terrorism, especially emanating from Pakistan. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur, a member of the delegation, referred to Pakistan's long-standing involvement in major global terror incidents. 'We had successful meetings here. Cross-border terrorism by Pakistan has become a matter of worry for our country and the entire world. From 9/11 to 26/11, Pakistan has been involved in all such terrorist acts. The way the African Union has defined terrorism, when the countries in the world come together as a global coalition against terrorism, then only we can have a cure for this,' Thakur stated. The all-party delegation led by Supriya Sule also includes Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, Manish Tewari, Anurag Singh Thakur, Lavu Sri Krishna devarayalu, Anand Sharma, former Minister of Commerce & Industry, V Muraleedharan, Former Minister of State for External Affairs, and Syed Akbaruddin, Former Permanent Representative of India to the UN. The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in key countries. Earlier, the delegation concluded its diplomatic visit to South Africa with a series of meetings involving political leaders, think tanks, and the Indian diaspora at India House in Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa. "Going to give message of peace": Supriya Sule ahead of all-party delegations' visit to partner countries
New Delhi [India], May 23 (ANI): National Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule, who is leading an all-party delegation to put forward India's policy of zero-tolerance against terrorism, said on Friday that they are going to 'give a message of peace and friendship.' The Sule-led group was briefed by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri earlier today ahead of their visit to various countries. 'We are going to give a message of peace and friendship. It was a very good briefing, and when we come back, we will talk in detail about it. Our group leaves tomorrow for South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Doha (Qatar),' Sule told reporters after the briefing. 'India is against terrorism and has zero tolerance towards it. Indian government has fought against terrorism before, and will continue its fight against terrorism with strength, and we are going together as Indians to other countries,' she told reporters. Earlier today, multiple delegations were briefed by the Foreign Secretary before going to various countries. Certain delegations have already met with representatives of various countries. Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, who is leading one of the delegations, held a press conference in the United Arab Emirates, calling for international solidarity in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. DMK MP Kanimozhi-led delegation met with former Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Fradkov and discussed current global issues, with a particular emphasis on the threats posed by terrorism. Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, targeting terror bases in Pakistan in retaliation for the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 people. "Will speak as responsible Indians": Supriya Sule ahead of all-party delegation's visit to partner countries
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 22 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Surpriya Sule, who is to lead an all-party delegation to put forward India's stance against terrorism, emphasised that all participating members will be speaking 'as responsible Indians' when going to various world capitals, underlining the huge responsibility which has been given to the MPs. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Sule said the remaining delegations would depart on Saturday, May 24, following a scheduled briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). 'We will discuss only after the MEA briefs us. This is a huge responsibility. Whatever we say during our outreach, we will say it as responsible Indians,' Sule said. Talking about the MEA briefing of the remaining 4 delegations, she added, 'Briefing of the remaining four groups has been scheduled for tomorrow, and we will leave for our visit the day after tomorrow.' Meanwhile, Sule will be leading the group, which will go to Egypt, Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa. Eight other members, including BJP's Rajiv Pratap Ruddy, Anurag Singh Thakur, and V Muraleedharan, along with Congress' Manish Tewari, Anand Sharma, TDP's Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, AAP's Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, and former permanent representative of India to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin, are part of the group. After the meeting, UAE parliamentarian Al-Nuaimi affirmed his support for India in its fight against terrorism. 'Terrorism has no religion, no nationality. It is an evil for all humanity,' Nuaimi said, adding that 'Terrorism is an enemy of humanity.... Wise people should rise and speak against terrorism,' he told reporters. Another delegation, which went to Japan met with their foreign minister, Takeshi Iwaya, reiterating India's unwavering national consensus and firm commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms. The Japanese Foreign Minister expressed strong support for India's fight against terrorism and lauded the restraint shown by India, urging strict punishment for perpetrators of terror acts. A total of 7 groups consisting of 8-9 members from various political parties have been selected by India to represent its stance of zero tolerance against terror and brief the representatives of other countries on Operation Sindoor. 'Becoming a troubling norm': Supriya Sule slams flight delays in Delhi

We appreciate your patience and understanding," the airline posted in reply. Delhi, on Friday, recorded 78mm of rainfall till 8:30 am, the second highest in 24 hours since 1901. The most rainfall was recorded at 119.3 mm on May 20, 2021, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The highest rainfall was recorded at Lodhi Road -78 mm, just ahead of Safdarjung Airport, which recorded 77mm. According to IMD, moisture and wind convergence over the area from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, assisted by a persistent highly favourable synoptic pattern at both lower and middle tropospheric levels, resulted in heavy rainfall. The highest rainfall recorded since 1901 was 119.3mm on May 20, 2021, at SFD Airport. According to IMD, it was associated with the movement of the remnant of the "Tauktae" Cyclone, which crossed the Gujarat coast.
