SCCI spotlights business groups as key to private sector growth

The initiative is part of the Sharjah Chamber's strategy to stimulate private sector growth, enhance its contribution to sustainable development, and elevate the competitive performance of businesses operating in their respective industries, both within Sharjah and beyond. This announcement was made during a meeting held by the Sharjah Chamber with heads of Sectoral Business Groups. These groups represent key economic sectors, including manufacturing, real estate, serviced apartments, and used car trade, retail centers, hospitality, food trade and industry, and legal services. Chaired by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, the meeting was attended by Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI; Dr Fatema Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of International Relations at SCCI; and Amjad Awad al Karim, Head of the Sectoral Business Groups Department. The meeting highlighted the key elements of the upcoming action plan to elevate the performance of SCCI's Sectoral Business Groups. Discussions covered proposed initiatives for 2025, including forming new sectoral groups, hosting a brainstorming session for the groups in collaboration with the Chamber's Business Councils Department, and supporting engagement in domestic and international events. The plan also encompasses hosting awareness workshops on economic laws and regulations, along with maintaining periodic meetings to enhance engagement with key economic sectors. The objective is to assess sector-specific needs and relay them to decision-makers, paving the way for tailored initiatives and incentives that foster business growth and operational advancement. In his remarks, H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais underscored the strategic role of sector-specific working groups as core partners to the Sharjah Chamber in advancing private sector development and supporting the emirate's broader economic objectives. He noted that the Sharjah Chamber's initiative to establish new sectoral business groups reflects its vision to adapt to global economic shifts by broadening the representation of emerging industries. These efforts aim to strengthen Sharjah's investment climate, expand local and international business partnerships, reinforce public-private sector collaboration, and unlock opportunities that enhance the emirate's overall economic competitiveness. During the meeting, heads of Sectoral Business Groups presented the key achievements and milestones achieved during the current year and introduced their forward-looking strategies. Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Head of the Real Estate Sector Business Group, highlighted a series of initiatives designed to drive real estate investment and broaden development project portfolios in response to Sharjah's urban and demographic growth. He also addressed preparations underway for the upcoming edition of the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition "ACRES 2026". Meanwhile, Lalu Samuel, Head of the Industries Sector Business Group, pointed to the ongoing efforts to launch strategic programs that position local industries for stronger global competitiveness and sustainable growth. For his part, Khaled Omar Mohammed Batarfi, Head of the Used Car Trade Sector Business Group, outlined initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure at Sharjah's Souq Al Haraj and expediting digital upgrades in vehicle licensing processes. Abdullah Al Blooshi, Head of the Shopping Centers Sector Business Group, pointed to the sector's success in attracting new investments and increasing footfall, underscoring its commercial appeal and contribution to economic growth. Fadi Musharafieh, Head of the Hotels Sector Business Group, outlined the group's upcoming work plan, which includes increasing hotel occupancy rates, promoting cultural, educational, and historical tourism, and encouraging sustainability across the hospitality sector. Meanwhile, Rabih Abou Mourad, Deputy Chairman of the Hotel Apartments Sector Business Group, affirmed the group's commitment to increasing the number of serviced apartments and attracting a broader international clientele, with targeted summer promotions aimed at stimulating inbound and domestic tourism.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the exhibition was organized by SCCI in collaboration with the Sharjah Real Estate Registration Department (SRERD). The awards ceremony, held at SCCI's headquarters, recognized the outstanding efforts and key contributions of partners whose support played a vital role in the exhibition's growth and success. The ACRES 2025 exhibition registered a record-breaking participation, with 110 exhibitors from leading real estate development and investment companies, marking the largest edition in the exhibition's history. The recognition event was attended by H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; H.E Abdulaziz Ahmed Al Shamsi, Director-General of SRERD; and H.E Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI. Also present were H.E Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of ACRES and Chairman of the Representative Committee of the Real Estate Sector Business Group at SCCI; and Nawaf Obeid, CEO of Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition "ACRES', along with senior government representatives, strategic partners, and leading real estate developers. During the ceremony, H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais affirmed that the remarkable success of the 2025 edition of Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition marks the culmination of joint efforts and productive cooperation among strategic partners and stakeholders. He noted that ACRES 2025 achieved significant milestones as it recorded real estate transactions valued at over AED 4.3 billion, marking a 207% growth compared to 2024 edition. These achievements underscore Sharjah's global competitiveness as a prime destination for real estate investment and a key center for innovation and advancement in this vital sector. The awards ceremony featured a documentary film highlighting the key events and record-breaking achievements of the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition's 2025 edition. Spanning over 10,000 square meters, ACRES 2025 drew more than 15,000 visitors from the UAE and beyond, with a record 110 participating exhibitors representing top property developers, as well as real estate development and investment companies from across the UAE and the wider region, alongside first-time participants. The ACRES 2025 Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition witnessed 2,505 transactions with the total value of deals climbing to AED4.4bn ($1.2bn), according to a meeting of the emirate's Executive Council. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, chaired the council's meeting on Tuesday morning at the Ruler's Office. During the session, the council discussed a number of government matters related to the public policies of local departments and entities, along with implementation plans designed to strengthen Sharjah's position across various sectors. Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition 2025 The council reviewed a detailed report on the 10th edition of the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition (ACRES 2025), which recorded a notable rise in performance. More than 110 real estate companies took part in the event, including both local and international participants. The exhibition attracted more than 15,000 visitors and featured upwards of 30 speakers who led training workshops and awareness programmes. The report also underlined the positive impact of the Executive Council's decision to reduce sale and purchase fees by 50 per cent for transactions conducted during the exhibition. A statistical comparison with previous years was provided to highlight the growth and improved outcomes. In addition, the council reviewed the participation guide for Sharjah Government's presence at GITEX 2025. The upcoming exhibition aims to spotlight innovations that support digital transformation and align with future technological developments across various sectors. The main themes of the participating projects will focus on digital government services, data and artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and smart systems, information and cyber security, and digital empowerment and capacity building. Sharjah's participation in GITEX 2025 continues its strong presence in past editions. The emirate's pavilion at the most recent edition drew over 28,000 visitors, facilitated engagement with more than 250 companies, showcased 18 distinguished government projects, and witnessed the signing of four cooperation agreements.

The Centre's events calendar for the year 2025 features a diverse lineup of innovative and specialised events and exhibitions, including debut editions spanning key industries such as manufacturing, smart mobility, commerce, healthcare, fragrances, gold, and jewellery. This announcement was made during a meeting of the Centre's Board of Directors, chaired by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Expo Centre Sharjah. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Majid Faisal Khalid Al Qasemi, First Vice Chairman of SCCI, and Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, along with board members, department heads, and senior executives of the Centre. The meeting presented the achievements of Expo Centre Sharjah and its affiliated centres in Khorfakkan and Al Dhaid over the past year. The Centre successfully organised and hosted 80 major exhibitions, marking a remarkable 60 percent increase compared to 2023. These events featured extensive international and regional participation from leading companies and renowned brands, attracting nearly 3 million visitors from across the UAE and beyond. During the meeting, the board reviewed the indicators and outcomes attained by key exhibitions hosted by Expo Sharjah in 2025, most notably SteelFab, the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition 'ACRES', and Jewels of Emirates Show. Discussions also emphasised the importance of redoubling efforts to enhance the Centre's infrastructure and develop its logistical and technological services to optimise operational efficiency and elevate participant and visitor experiences in line with global best practices. Additionally, the meeting explored strategies to attract a larger pool of global investors and leading companies to expand participation in the Expo Sharjah's exhibitions In his remarks, H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais said that advancing the exhibitions and conferences sector is a core component of the forward-looking vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, as well as the developmental strategy of the Sharjah government. He underscored the exhibition industry's pivotal role in attracting industrial and commercial investments, boosting the growth of tourism and travel sector, and enhancing cross-border economic connectivity while fostering collaboration between the private sector and the broader business community. This strategic focus has solidified Sharjah's standing as a distinguished global player in the exhibitions and conferences industry, enabling it to successfully host a diverse range of prominent international and regional events. For his part, H.E Saif Mohammed Al Midfa reaffirmed that Expo Sharjah continues to strengthen its position as a leading regional and international exhibitions and conferences hub. He noted that the Centre's annual plans are strategically aligned with national economic diversification goals, aiming to enhance strategic partnerships and successful international participation to attract more global exhibitors. He also highlighted the Centre's membership in leading regional and international exhibition organizations and its collaboration with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to leverage its global networks in hosting specialised investment and economic forums and exhibitions in the upcoming phase. The meeting showcased the preliminary results of the follow-up carried out to monitor the performance of Ramadan Nights Exhibition in terms of its visitors' turnout and sales figures. It highlighted the exhibition's contribution to retail enhancement, sales boost, and domestic tourism promotion within the broader framework of the Sharjah Ramadan Festival. The board also reviewed the upcoming exhibition agenda and ongoing preparations for flagship events such as the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show, Emirates Perfume and Oud Exhibition, and Gulf Coatings Show. The discussions also covered first-time exhibitions hosted in Sharjah, including the Evolve Future Mobility Show and the Dairy Tech Middle East exhibition, both making their debut in the emirate. In 2024, Expo Centre Sharjah, alongside its affiliated centres in Khorfakkan and Al Dhaid, successfully organised and hosted 80 major exhibitions.
