Special activities for children Children particularly enjoyed the event, as a special area was designated for participants under the age of 7. The two-hour event was a success, thanks to the effective coordination between the Sharjah Sports Council, the UAE Cycling Federation, and Strider. Community spirit and participation Bakhit Al Qars praised the community event, stating that it has become an annual occasion eagerly awaited by cycling enthusiasts in Sharjah. He emphasized that participation was the main focus, regardless of winning or losing, which is often the case in official races where competition is fierce. He appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants and the family atmosphere that prevailed throughout the event. Commemorative medals Medals were distributed to all participants, designed in the shape of a bicycle, featuring a map of the world to commemorate World Bicycle Day, a unique element since the first edition.

Sharjah crowned champions of UAE Taekwondo Cup

Recognition and individual awards Sharjah Club also received the Excellence Award from the UAE Taekwondo Federation in recognition of its role in hosting international training camps and organising championships. The club was further honoured with the Outstanding Partner Award. In individual honours, Sharjah received the award for Best Coach of the Season, and its athletes were recognised as Best Player in the men's, youth, and junior categories. With this result, the 'Kings of Taekwondo' added their 10th title of the season and claimed the overall championship trophy in the men's category. Official statement from the club Engineer Suleiman Abdulrahman Al Hajri, Board Member and Head of Individual Sports, said: "We congratulate the taekwondo team on this achievement, which reflects the efforts of the technical and administrative staff. I also commend the outstanding performance of our athletes who lived up to expectations and represented the club in the best way throughout the season." He added: "Individual sports at Sharjah Club follow a strategy of continuity and generational transition. This long-term approach has yielded remarkable results across all disciplines over the years. We will continue this path to safeguard our successes and achieve new milestones in future seasons." Al Hajri also stressed that the consistent support and attention from the Sharjah Sports Council have played a major role in the success of individual sports across the emirate, especially at Sharjah Club. He acknowledged the unwavering backing of the club's Board of Directors, which has stood by the teams in every competition. Looking ahead to the next season Al Hajri concluded by noting that preparations for the new season are already underway, with plans to meet all team needs to ensure they are fully equipped to compete at the highest level. A historic season of dominance The club enjoyed a remarkable season, winning 15 cups and claiming first place in seven tournaments. They were also awarded the General League Shield three times, along with multiple excellence shields, including the Kata and Kumite Shield, the Men's General Excellence Shield, and the Technical and Administrative Excellence Shield. Sharjah Club set a new record by scoring 1,007 points, becoming the first club in UAE karate history to reach this milestone. Leadership and recognition Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, awarded the General Shield in a ceremony attended by Khalid Issa Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Club, and Engineer Sulaiman Abdulrahman Al Hajri, Head of Individual Games. Khalid Al Midfa praised the continuous achievements of the club's karate team, stating the Board of Directors' commitment to supporting all sports at the club and maintaining the legacy established by previous leadership. Strategic planning and player development Engineer Al Hajri highlighted that the victory reflects years of strategic planning, saying the Individual Games Department has been implementing development plans for over five years. These efforts aim to nurture talent and supply the UAE national teams with top-performing athletes. He emphasised the role of the Sharjah Sports Council, its vision for elevating individual sports, and the unwavering support from the club's leadership, which has been key to the consistent excellence demonstrated by Sharjah's karate champions. Celebrating excellence The ceremony was attended by officials from the UAE Karate Federation, including Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Competitions Committee; Mohammed Al Shehhi, Financial Director; Mohammed Abbas, Executive Director; and Hisham Serry, Technical Director, who celebrated the crowning of Sharjah's 'Karate Kings' at the season's conclusion.

Organized by the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the tournament featured 350 players from 60 countries. Dr. Falasi emphasized that the championship underscores the UAE's prominent position in the global sports arena, particularly in chess, a game that combines intellect, strategy, and talent. He stated, 'This tournament has solidified its status as a global platform attracting world champions and offering emerging talents the opportunity to gain experience and learn diverse playing styles at the highest levels.' He added, 'The significant participation and exceptional organization reflect the commitment of the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club and the Sharjah Sports Council to advancing the sport and reinforcing Sharjah's role as an international hub for chess. The fruitful collaboration between various governmental and private entities contributed to delivering an outstanding edition by all standards.' He commended all efforts behind the tournament's success, affirming that the Ministry of Sports prioritizes supporting initiatives that enhance the UAE's stature in hosting global championships and preparing a generation of local champions capable of excelling internationally. The closing ceremony and awards presentation were attended by Sheikh Dr. Khalid Bin Hamid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club and President of the Arab Chess Federation; Taryam Matar Taryam, President of the UAE Chess Federation; Essa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council; and numerous sports figures. The event also featured the announcement of the winners of the Arab Chess Federation's Translation and Composition Award and the honoring of the award's jury committee. Dutch Grandmaster Anish Giri clinched the Masters title after securing 7 points out of 9 rounds, marking the first time a European player has won the championship. Serbian Grandmaster Aleksandar Indjic and top-seeded Uzbek Grandmaster Nodirbek Abdusattorov both scored 6.5 points, with Indjic taking second place and Abdusattorov finishing third on tiebreaks. Winners of the B and C categories were also honored during the ceremony. Sheikh Dr. Khalid expressed profound gratitude to Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi for his unwavering support of sports and athletes, and for his patronage of the championship. He also thanked Dr. Falasi for attending the closing ceremony, as well as Hazami and Taryam Matar Taryam for their continuous support of the clubs. He affirmed that the championship achieved numerous gains on technical, administrative, and organizational levels, attributing the professional organization to the dedicated efforts of the working team. The tournament left a significant impact on participating players, including those who secured top positions and those who attained international titles. 150 Players Compete in Central Region Clubs Sports Championship

150 players The championship will feature the participation of 150 players from clubs in the Central Region. The championship is sponsored by His Excellency Rashid Abdullah Al Mahyan and organized by the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) in cooperation with the Central Region Parents' Council. His Excellency Mohammed Sultan Al Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Maliha Cultural and Sports Club, revealed the organisation of the Central Region Clubs Sports Championship for Swimming and Basketball, which will be held for the first time at the Maliha Cultural and Sports Club. Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Al Khasouni explained that the championship saw positive interaction from clubs in the Central Region, with 150 players from the junior and youth categories participating in swimming and football.
