Fujairah Ruler orders release of 112 prisoners for Eid Al Adha 2025
Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has ordered the release of 112 prisoners from punitive and correctional institutions in Fujairah on the occasion of Eid Al Adha. The inmates of various nationalities were selected based on good conduct and behaviour. The gesture is part of His Highness' keenness to give prisoners an opportunity to start a new life and bring joy to their families, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) said in a statement. Major-General Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanim Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of the Fujairah Police, thanked H.H. Sheikh Hamad for this gesture. '[This gesture] will enable the released prisoners to start new lives, contribute to their community, and show good behaviour,' the statement added, citing Major-General Al Kaabi.

UAE: Fujairah announces release of prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha
The Ruler of Fujairah on Tuesday announced that the emirate will be releasing 112 prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha. In an Instagram post, the emirate's media office said that Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, has ordered the release. The prisoners, who have been found eligible and have displayed good conduct, will be released from the penal and correctional institution in the emirate.

Qatar boosts FIFA Arab Cup prize fund to record $36.5 million
May 22 (Reuters) - The 2025 FIFA Arab Cup will have a record prize fund of more than $36.5 million, Qatar's Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the regional tournament announced on Thursday. The competition, which features senior men's national teams from the 22-member Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA), representing both Asia and Africa, takes place from December 1 to 18. "This announcement further elevates the stature of the FIFA Arab Cup, a tournament we reinstated in 2021, and reflects Qatar's leading role in developing football across the region and beyond," said Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth and LOC Chairman in a statement. Having taken over the organisation from UAFA, which initially ran the event, FIFA has been in charge since the tournament's revival in 2021, when it had a reported prize fund of $25.5 million. The draw will be held in Doha on Sunday, with defending champions Algeria among the favourites.

A 36% growth in the value of certificates of origin at Ajman Chamber during Q1 2025
Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, Director of the Member Affairs Department, stated that the growth in both the number and value of certificates of origin issued in the emirate of Ajman during the first quarter of 2025 serves as a clear indicator of the strength of the industrial and commercial sectors within the emirate. This growth reflects the ongoing expansion of export activities and economic dynamism. He further emphasized that this growth is a result of the significant support from the wise leadership and the integration among entities concerned with economic sector services, alongside the fruitful cooperation between the public and private sectors. This collaboration enhances Ajman's position as a vital economic hub at both the national and regional levels. He revealed that the number of transactions for certificates of origin issued by the emirate of Ajman reached 11,698 certificates during the first quarter of 2025, with a total value of AED 1.89 billion, representing a growth of 36% compared to the value of certificates of origin during the first quarter of 2024, which amounted to AED 1.39 billion. He further affirmed that the Ajman Chamber continues its efforts to continuously develop its service system by adopting the latest technological systems and providing innovative solutions that meet the aspirations of the business community. The Chamber also works in cooperation with its partners from government entities to facilitate procedures and stimulate the growth of exports of local products, enhancing their competitiveness in regional and global markets. This is within the framework of its endeavors aimed at supporting national companies and enabling them to expand and access new markets.
