Why Sheriff Country Is Filming 2,100 Miles Away From Fire Country — Plus, Episode Count Confirmed

Back in April, Fire Country front man Max Thieriot confirmed for TVLine that the CBS hit's first spinoff, Sheriff Country, would be filming in Toronto — more than 2,000 miles east of Vancouver, where Fire Country's own production is based. As such, any crossovers between the two shows, which will air back-to-back on Friday night this fall, 'will be challenging,' Thieriot admitted, but 'they are still something we plan to do.' Stephen Colbert Gets a Visit From Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart and More Late-Night Hosts After Cancellation - Watch In the red carpet video above, Diane Farr, who plays Fire Country's Sharon, affirms it 'definitely' will be difficult to pull off crossovers, seeing as 'we shoot on opposite ends' of Canada — but it won't be 'impossible,' Thieriot insists. 'Nothing's impossible.' (In fact, TVLine recently shared a sneak peek at Farr's first Sheriff Country visit.) We now have a reason for the odd geographical discrepancy between the sister series, which are both set in the fictional Edgewater, Calif. As a guest on the July 22 episode of Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast, Sheriff Country headliner Morena Baccarin recalled being pitched the role of Sheriff Mickey Fox, who was introduced in an April 2024 episode of Fire Country and eyeballed for a spinoff. 'I said to them, 'This is a no-brainer for me, but I cannot shoot in Vancouver,'' Baccarin explained. 'There's, like, no way that my family survives, with three kids in New York City. [There's no way] that this could work.' Baccarin lives in New York City — a five-hour flight from Vancouver — with husband/onetime Gotham scene partner Ben McKenzie and three young children, including an 11-year-old son from her first marriage. After The Powers That Be split off and 'discussed it amongst themselves,' it was eventually agreed upon to film Sheriff Country in Toronto, which is just an hour-and-change from NYC via airplane, and thus allows Baccarin to return home every weekend. 'I was shocked,' Baccarin admits, 'because you know how these negotiations go.' Baccarin also revealed on the pod that Sheriff Country — which was ordered to series more than a year ago but got held for the 2025-26 TV season — has a 20-episode order for its freshman run. 'I haven't done network TV in a while [since NBC's The Endgame] because… the 20-episode thing is really tough on everybody,' she notes. 'But I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm really excited about the series. 'It's a great premise. It's a great character. I really, truly love the people that I'm working with who are creating the show,' she says. 'Brockheimer TV has been incredible in the process, and it's been smooth sailing.' Want SCOOP on any of the TV shows above? Email InsideLine@ and your question may be answered via Matt's Inside Line! Sheriff Country Exclusive: Morena Baccarin and Max Thieriot Fire Up First Looks at a Crossover and More

Morena Baccarin is here to invite you to visit Sheriff Country this fall — and she brought a very special friend to help sing the spinoff's praises. This Friday night, CBS is airing three Fire Country encores, including Season 2's 'firenado' crisis and the episode that introduced Baccarin's Sheriff Mickey Fox. Amid the mini-thon, there will be interstitial videos featuring Baccarin and Fire Country front man/co-creator Max Thieriot. In TVLine's exclusive first look at one of those videos, Baccarin and Thieriot set the stage for Sheriff Country, where Mickey Fox is known to get 'down and dirty' when solving crime — with help, as seen in the clip, from co-star Matt Lauria's Deputy Nathan Boone. A second video, below, covers the topic of crossovers by Fire Country stars, and offers a first look at Diane Farr's Sheriff Country debut as Sharon Leone. Filming in Toronto and premiering this fall, Sheriff Country stars Baccarin (Gotham, Homeland) as straight-shooting sheriff Mickey Fox, the stepsister of Cal Fire's division chief Sharon Leone. Mickey investigates criminal activity while she patrols the streets of small-town Edgewater, contending with her ex-con father Wes (Deadwood's W. Earl Brown), who is an off-the-grid marijuana grower, and a mysterious incident involving her daughter Skye (Degrassi: The Next Generation's Amanda Arcuri), who struggles with addiction. The Sheriff Country cast also includes the aforementioned Lauria (CSI: Vegas) as Nathan Boone, a smart and capable chief deputy/Mickey's right-hand man; Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs) as Travis Fraley, Mickey's lawyer ex-husband and Skye's father; and Michele Weaver (Love Is___) as Cassidy Campbell, a deputy who was inspired by Mickey to become a sheriff. The recurring cast includes Arcuri, plus Caroline Rhea (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) as Gina, Sheriff Fox's deadpan and efficient assistant and the face of the Edgewater County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Country will air Fridays at 8/7c, leading into Fire Country Season 4. Matt Lopez (ABC's Promised Land) serves as showrunner. Want scoop on , or for any other TV show? Fire Country Season 4: Release date rumors, cast updates and what to expect next

By Aman Shukla Published on June 22, 2025, 20:17 IST Last updated June 22, 2025, 20:18 IST Okay, Fire Country fans, let's dive into the latest updates on Season 4! After that gut-punch of a Season 3 finale, fans are dying to know what's next for Bode, Sharon, and the whole Edgewater crew. Between cast shake-ups, spinoff hype, and those pesky release date rumors, there's a ton to unpack. So, grab a coffee (or something stronger), and let's dish on everything we know—or think we know—about Fire Country Season 4. Fire Country Season 4 Potential Release Date As of right now, June 2025, CBS is keeping us in suspense with no official release date for Season 4. The show got the green light back in February 2025, which is a big vote of confidence. Word on the street (and by street, we mean X posts and TVLine reports) is that filming kicks off in Vancouver this July. That lines up nicely for a September or October 2025 premiere, probably in that trusty Friday 9 p.m. ET slot on CBS. Cast Updates: Who's Returning and Who's Leaving? The Fire Country Season 3 finale dropped some major bombshells, and the cast for Season 4 will look noticeably different. Here's a breakdown of who's in. Max Thieriot as Bode Leone : The heart of the show, Bode, is confirmed to return. As a newly freed firefighter, his journey to redemption will continue to drive the story. Thieriot, who also serves as an executive producer and co-creator, has teased 'game-changing' developments for his character. Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez : Manny, Gabriela's father and a key figure at Station 42, is expected back, bringing his blend of tough love and leadership. Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford : Jake's role as interim battalion chief in the Season 3 finale sets him up for a bigger leadership arc in Season 4. Diane Farr as Sharon Leone : Despite being caught in the Season 3 finale's collapse, Sharon is expected to survive and return, especially with her ties to the upcoming spinoff Sheriff Country . Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards: Eve's resilience and growth make her a fan favorite, and she's confirmed to be back for more. What to Expect in Fire Country Season 4 The Season 3 finale left fans with a heart-stopping cliffhanger: a fire consumed Walter's care facility, trapping Vince, Sharon, and Walter as the building collapsed. Bode watched in horror, setting the stage for an emotionally charged Season 4. Here's what we can anticipate: Storylines to Watch Bode's Big Moment: If Vince doesn't make it (I'm still in denial), Bode's gonna be a mess. He's already got guilt from his rebel stunt causing the fire, so expect some heavy soul-searching. Maybe he'll finally step up as a leader to honor his dad. Jake's Time to Shine: With Jake as interim chief, I'm curious if he'll clash with the team or prove he's the real deal. Jordan Calloway's got the chops to carry this arc. New Disasters: Fire Country thrives on high-stakes action, and Season 4 will likely deliver more epic fires, floods, or other emergencies. Max Thieriot has hinted at 'crazy action stunt sequences' that will keep viewers glued to their screens. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication .
