Deputy CM Shinde tells Nashik civic chief to resolve water supply, parking & road issues

Nashik: Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde has asked Nashik's municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri to ensure the civic body carries out works to regularise drinking water supply to Cidco and neighbouring areas by appointing new valve-men, address the city's parking issues, and repair roads excavated for gas pipeline installation. This followed a meeting between Nashik West MLA Seema Hiray and Shinde, who also serves as the urban development minister, on Friday. Hiray briefed Shinde on citizens' concerns, including drinking water shortage, poor road condition, city-wide encroachments, parking difficulties causing traffic congestion, and other issues. "The minister gave us a patient hearing. NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri virtually attended the meeting. The minister asked the commissioner to take steps, including floating a fresh tender for the appointment of valve-men to operate the valves of drinking water supply pipelines, and ensure equitable water distribution across the city. He also asked the corporation to repair the roads that were dug up while laying the gas pipeline at the earliest," said Hiray. Hiray also reported that Shinde requested the corporation to execute developmental projects at Pelikan Park. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The NMC is expected to allocate its funds for this initiative, supplemented by state govt. Maharashtra deputy CM Shinde directs instant panchnama of crop damage

Thane: Deputy CM Eknath Shinde said on Saturday in Thane that district collectors have been issued instructions to immediately initiate panchnama of fields in regions where there was heavy rainfall and incidents of crop damage were reported. Shinde was responding to local media queries about the losses suffered by farmers in regions where there was heavy rainfall over the last few days. "This govt is sensitive towards the farmers. We have instructed district collectors to launch instant panchnamas in affected areas where crops are likely to have been hit by heavy rainfall," Shinde said. He announced that the urban development department will allocate Rs 5 crore to the Thane municipal corporation's health department for its cervical cancer screening initiative started under the 'Deputy CM Healthy Women Campaign'. Modern diagnostic tools such as ultrasound machines and a mammography van have been deployed that will screen the health of over five lakh women free of cost over the next three months. The focus will be on the early detection of cervical cancer, diabetes, haemoglobin tests, HPV vaccination for girls aged 9–14, and awareness of healthy lifestyles, among others, Shinde said. ‘Chameleon, Didn't Reply To Fadnavis' Calls': Eknath Shinde Slams Uddhav For Betraying BJP

Last Updated: Uddhav Thackeray had snapped ties with the BJP even after victory as allies in the 2019 Assembly polls. He went on to become the chief minister in alliance with Congress and NCP. Maharashtra has never seen a chameleon changing colours so fast, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Friday, as he apparently hit out at Uddhav Thackeray for parting ways from the BJP in 2019 despite winning the Assembly polls as allies with a majority. He accused Uddhav of betraying Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who he said, made '40-50 calls" to the then chief of undivided Shiv Sena after victory, but the latter made no response to the calls. 'Maharashtra has never seen a chameleon changing colours so fast. He went with those whom he once considered lowly," Shinde said in an apparent reference to Uddhav, who joined hands with long-time rivals Congress and NCP to become the chief minister, snapping ties with old ally BJP. Shinde said that it was because of his request to Fadnavis that the latter had agreed to cede the post of Mumbai's mayor to Shiv Sena in 2017 after Sena won 84 seats and the BJP in the civic polls. 'But he (Thackeray) betrayed Fadnavis in 2019 (by walking out of the alliance)," Shinde said. Shinde claimed that when he and the MLAs supporting him were camping in Guwahati in 2022 after their rebellion against Thackeray, the latter approached him for reconciliation, and told the BJP leadership in Delhi at the same time not to support the group. The Shiv Sena chief said that the MVA government led by Thackeray announced to start a music school in the name of Lata Mangeshkar after her demise. He claimed that when the Mangeshkar family awarded the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uddhav was so upset that he decided not to start the music school. Shinde said that when he became the chief minister in 2022, he started the music school. Shinde's remarks of betrayal came a day after Uddhav met Fadnavis. A day earlier, Fadnavis had asked Uddhav in a tongue-in-cheek remark in the Assembly to switch to the ruling side. He changed colours like chameleon: Shinde lambasts Uddhav Thackeray

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday (July 18, 2025) hit out at Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, accusing him of betraying his ally Devendra Fadnavis in 2019. Replying to the opposition's Last Week Motion in the legislative council, Mr. Shinde said, without naming Mr. Thackeray, that Mr. Fadnavis made "40-50 calls" after the alliance of the undivided Shiv Sena and BJP retained its majority in the 2019 assembly elections. But there was no response (from Mr. Thackeray) to the BJP leader's calls, said Mr. Shinde. "Maharashtra has never seen a chameleon changing colours so fast. He went with those whom he once considered lowly," Mr. Shinde said in an apparent reference to Thackeray joining hands with the Congress after severing the alliance with the BJP. It was because of his (Mr. Shinde's) request that Mr. Fadnavis had agreed to cede the post of Mumbai's mayor to the Shiv Sena in 2017 after the Sena won 84 seats and the BJP 82 in the civic polls, Shinde said. "But he (Mr. Thackeray) betrayed Mr. Fadnavis in 2019 (by walking out of the alliance)," Mr. Shinde added. Mr. Shinde also claimed that while he and rebel Sena MLAs supporting him were camping in Guwahati in 2022 after rebelling against Mr. Thackeray, the latter approached him for reconciliation and, at the same time, asked the BJP leadership in Delhi not to support the rebel group. Mr. Shinde said the Thackeray government had announced the establishment of a music school in the name of Lata Mangeshkar after the singing legend's death. But when the Mangeshkar family awarded the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Thackeray got so upset that he decided against starting the music school, Mr. Shinde claimed. When he became chief minister in 2022, he started the music school, Mr. Shinde added. Notably, Mr. Shinde's reminder of Mr. Thackeray 'betraying' Mr. Fadnavis and the BJP in 2019 came a day after the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief met the Maharashtra Chief Minister. A day earlier, Mr. Fadnavis, in a tongue-in-cheek remark in the House, had asked Mr. Thackeray to come over to the ruling side.
