Korean frozen yoghurt chain Yoajung to open in Singapore with toppings like Dubai chocolate and honeycomb
The froyo craze in Singapore is officially back in full swing. Australian frozen yoghurt chain Yo-Chi broke the internet when it opened its first international outlet in Orchard Central, with waiting times stretching up to an hour over its opening weekend. Come September, we'll have another froyo spot in town to hit up: Yoajung, South Korea's famous frozen yoghurt chain, will be debuting its first Singapore store at Scape on September 5. Yoajung currently has 350 outlets across Hong Kong, Shanghai, and most recently, Sydney. The brand is also endorsed by K-Pop celebrities like Jay Park, NMIXX and RIIZE. The Singapore store is expected to offer three yoghurt bases: the signature yoghurt ice cream, low-sugar yoghurt ice cream and Greek yoghurt as a healthier option. If it's anything like the Korean menu, acai bowls might also be available. While there aren't any crazy yoghurt flavours like salted butterscotch or cookies and cream here, Yoajung's unique array of toppings is what makes it such a hit in Korea. Think slabs of honeycomb, banana brulée, dalgona, cheesecake cubes, and even a Dubai chocolate-inspired topping. Other picks include popping candy, tanghulu and brown sugar mochi. And since it's a Korean brand, you can even expect popular Korean fruits like Shine Muscat grapes. Yoajung also does a special 'shell' topping, where the tip of the yoghurt is dipped into sauces like chocolate or strawberry. Spoilt for choice? There are several signature combinations on the menu that'll save you the hassle of choosing. One thing to note is that while Yo-Chi is a fully self-serve experience where cups are charged by weight, Yoajung uses a more standard pricing model with fixed prices for toppings – similar to Llao Llao and Yolé in Singapore. Yoajung Singapore's full menu, prices, and opening hours have yet to be announced, so watch this space for updates. In the meantime, check out Yoajung's Instagram page here.

Starbucks Japan's white peach Frappuccino and drinks are here
By Casey Baseel, SoraNews24 It's been an extremely hot summer in Japan this year, with the country recording its highest temperature ever just a few days ago. Temperatures have dipped a bit since then, but not by much, so we were very much looking forward to having not one, not two, but three new chilled drinks from Starbucks Japan to taste test and cool off with. Once again, this solemn duty fell to our resident Frappuccino expert K Masami, who made her way to Starbucks on August 1 as a trio of peach-flavored beverages were added to the menu. Collectively called the Three Happy Peaches, Starbucks is continuing the format it used for its Shine Muscat grape series last month, releasing a Frappuccino, a tea, and a soda, each making use of the seasonal fruit, and Masami elected to taste the Heavenly Peach Frappuccino first. Visually, this is a gorgeous-looking drink, especially when served in glass that lets you appreciate the interplay of colors in the topping of whipped cream with drizzled peach sauce and sprinkling of peach-flavor powder. At the bottom of the glass is quite a bit of chopped white peach pieces, and in between the Frappuccino base itself, made with white peach puree but without any milk. This mix of ingredients makes for a drink that's sweet, flavorful, and packed with juicy peach notes, but the milk-less Frappuccino base minimizes oiliness too. So while the flavor is bold, it comes to a clean finish, a combination that means there was really only room for one possible complaint: it all tastes so good that part of Masami wanted to savor it as slowly as possible, but it was so revitalizing on a hot summer day that she wanted to gulp it down with gusto. That dilemma isn't the beverage's fault, though, and Masami feels the Heavenly Peach Frappuccino truly deserves the 'Heavenly' part of its name. Next up, the Craft Juicy Peach Tea. This is the simplest drink in Starbucks' peach lineup, as it's a glass of their black tea with chopped white peach, plus ice to keep everything chilled. There's nothing wrong with simplicity when it's staying true to a purpose, though, and the Craft Juicy Peach Tea is wonderfully focused on providing a gentle and relaxing flavor. Starbucks' black tea is a little on the strong side, but the peach pieces help mellow out some of its bitterness and also add a sweet, fruity zip to the mix that fits in very nicely. Also, out of the three new drinks, the Craft Juicy Peach Tea uses the largest quantity of fruit, as you can easily see when they're all lined up next to each other, so this is the one to go for if you feel like you can never have too much peach. ▼ Almost half of our Craft Juicy Peach Tea glass was fruit. The mood often starts to feel bittersweet as Masami approaches the end of her taste tests, but for the final drink in this session the taste was tart and sweet. That's because the Chillax Soda Peach's base is made with a green citrus syrup with nearly a dozen flavors, including lime, grapefruit, and lemon, and there's a lemon slice in the glass too for good measure. There's still room for the sweetness of the chopped white peach to shine, though, with the fizzy carbonation helping it pop on the taste buds, with the sharp citrus coming on stronger at the end to close off the sensation of each sip, making it Masami's pick for the most refreshing of the trio. Honestly, these are all so satisfying that Masami would be happy to drink them throughout the year as regular menu items, but since they make use of seasonal ingredients, we'll just have to enjoy them as often as we can before summer ends. 5 fruit and vegetable picking farms near Tokyo for a nature-filled day out
Best for: Grapes Tucked into the sloping hills along the Tama River, Kimura Vineyard in Setagaya is a surprisingly spacious grape farm by Tokyo standards. Around 10 grape varieties grow on the grounds and there's also a vegetable garden and a chicken coop, making for a tranquil rural-style retreat without leaving the city. Among the farm's highlights are prized cultivars like Shine Muscat, Nagano Purple and Muscat Noire, making Kimura Vineyard a top spot for grape connoisseurs looking to try out fresh Japanese produce without heading too far out of town. Grapes are only available for purchase through the farm's hands-on picking experience, which is usually offered from late August through September. Be sure to check the website before visiting, as the farm often announces irregular holidays and opening hours online. Once you've harvested your favourite bunch with a pair of scissors, owner Koichiro Kimura recommends heading over to nearby Futakotamagawa Park or the scenic Tama riverbank to enjoy your freshly picked fruit. Prices for the 2025 picking season will be announced in August, and picking experiences are offered on a first-come, first- served basis. Be sure to get there early, as eager pickers start queueing from as early as 6am on peak days.

Starbucks Japan releases new Shine Muscat grape drinks, but the Frappuccino isn't the star
A surprise newcomer steals the show as this summer's must-try beverage. Fruit has been plentiful at Starbucks this summer, with strawberries and mangoes keeping us refreshed throughout the season, but now it's time for a new crop to take centre stage, with a trio of Shine Muscat grape drinks called 'Three Summer Muscats'. On the menu from 9 July, we were one of the first in line to try the trio, and with Shine Muscat being a large and premium Japanese cultivar of grape, we had high expectations for all three of them. So how would they stack up? Let's start the taste test with the main attraction, the 'Grand Muscat Frappuccino'. ▼ This icy drink is available in a Tall size only, priced at 707 yen (US$4.82) for takeout or 720 yen for dine-in. With muscat juice in the base, and sauce with grape pulp and a jelly made with muscat puree in the mix, this Frappuccino is designed to tantalise the taste buds with juicy, fresh, succulent flavours. Elderflower is added as an accent, and although it comes with a whipped cream topping, Starbucks suggests ordering it without cream for a lighter, more refreshing taste. ▼ So that's how we ordered it. The cream-less Frappuccino has a beautiful light green hue, and when you take a sip, the sweet and tangy flavor of muscat fills your mouth in the most delicious way. The jelly pieces throughout also play a great role, giving each mouthful a pleasantly jiggly, fruit-like texture. The base and sauce are a perfect match, resulting in a finish that's so juicy you could drink it endlessly during the blazing hot days of summer. ▼ Next up, we have the 'Chillax Soda Muscat' (579 yen/590 yen takeout/dine-in for a Tall; 624 yen/635 yen for a Grande). This is the third flavour to be released in Starbucks' new 'Chillax Soda' series, which is based on the concept of 'aromatic sodas for a lighter mood'. Grape pulp jelly, muscat puree, soda water and a special green citrus-flavoured syrup are the ingredients here, with the jelly's sweetness being central to delivering a crisp, refreshing flavour. The simplicity of the beverage serves to bring out the muscat's sweetness, and the green citrus aromatics pair well with the muscat while the fizzy soda adds extra refreshment, creating a pleasantly chill drinking experience. ▼ Finally, we have the 'Muscat Earl Grey Frozen Tea' (678 yen takeout; 690 yen dine-in, Tall size only) Surprisingly, this is actually the most intriguing of the three, as it combines muscat-flavoured jelly and grape pulp sauce with the chain's popular 'Earl Grey Bouquet & Tea' tea latte, a milky, fragrant blend embellished with a vanilla-flavoured mousse topping. This topping is unique in itself, as it's lighter and smoother than whipped cream, allowing the stunning combination of Earl Grey and muscat to really shine. Unlike the Frappuccino, the ice content isn't as overpowering, so the refreshing Earl Grey takes centre stage, and with the jelly and sauce at the bottom of the cup, you can mix in as much or as little of it as you like to change the intensity of the fruit. With so many flavours and a texture somewhere between an iced drink and a Frappuccino, this is truly a new kind of beverage and it completely stole the show, standing out from its companions with an elevated, elegant deliciousness. If you're looking for a literal bite to eat alongside the new drinks, then we highly recommend the newly released 'Sugar Doughnut Balls' (370 yen), which add a touch of decadent sweetness to the Shine Muscat beverages. All of these newly released items are limited-time offerings for summer, with the chain saying they'll only be available while stocks last. If you want to indulge in just one, then we highly recommend trying the Muscat Earl Grey Frozen Tea, but every item is delicious and worth trying — just don't wait too long to try them before they disappear!
