MS Dhoni Gets Angry At Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana; Video Goes Viral
Last Updated: MS Dhoni lost his cool at Shivam Dube and Matheesha Pathirana for not following fielding instructions in CSK's win over Gujarat Titans. Chennai Super Kings' stand-in skipper MS Dhoni was on Sunday, May 25, seen losing his cool at Shivam Dube and Matheesha Pathirana, as they didn't seem to listen to his instructions while setting the field, in the team's final league stage game against the Gujarat Titans. It was right before Ravindra Jadeja 's over when Dhoni got frustrated as the commentators revealed that Pathirana and Dube were the ones who didn't listen to his orders. But once they were set, on the very next delivery, Shahrukh Khan was caught by Pathirana at short third man, while Sai Sudharsan holed out to Dube at backward point. Watch the video here: Meanwhile, Gujarat's hopes of a top-two finish in the Indian Premier League suffered a huge dent when they went down by 83 runs to Chennai. The Titans have 18 points after a full set of 14 league games and are still on top of the table despite the Net Run Rate taking a nose dive after this big loss. It is crucial because either the Mumbai Indians (16) or the Punjab Kings (17 points) will overtake Gujarat with a victory from their face-off. Cutting back to the game, once asked to chase a stiff 231, the Titans floundered, losing in-form captain Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford in the Power Play passage itself with just 35 runs on the board. The Gujarat team was bowled out for a paltry 147 in the penultimate over. Pacer Anshul Kamboj did the damage, claiming the wickets of Gill and Rutherford. Sudharsan (41, 28b), the latest entrant into the India Test team and his Tamil Nadu team-mate Shahrukh (19) added 55 runs for the fourth wicket to infuse some interest into the chase. IPL 2025: How Can MS Dhonis CSK Avoid 1st Ever Last Place Finish?
photoDetails english 2903891 Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a six-wicket defeat to Rajasthan Royals (RR), placing them last in the IPL 2025 points table with just 6 points and a -1.030 NRR. RR's 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi starred with a brilliant 57, while Sanju Samson anchored the chase. Despite explosive knocks from Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, and Shivam Dube, CSK's middle-order collapse continued. MS Dhoni's slow 16 couldn't provide a strong finish. With one game left against Gujarat Titans, CSK must win big to avoid their first-ever last-place finish in IPL history, while RR slightly improve their chances of avoiding the bottom spot. Updated:May 21, 2025, 09:18 AM IST 1. Win Final Match vs Gujarat Titans 1 / 20 A win is non-negotiable. CSK must beat GT to reach 8 points, equal to Rajasthan Royals. 2. Overtake Rajasthan on Net Run Rate (NRR) 2 / 20 CSK's NRR is -1.030; RR's is -0.549. CSK need a dominant win — either by 60+ runs or chasing a target in under 14 overs. 3. Exploit Powerplay – Batting or Bowling 3 / 20 Start strong. Score quickly in the first 6 overs if batting first or take early wickets to dent GT's momentum if bowling. 4. Finish Strong with the Ball 4 / 20 Death overs have hurt CSK this season. Tight bowling in the final 5 overs can limit GT's total and boost NRR. 5. Promote In-Form Batters Up the Order 5 / 20 Let big hitters like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube face more balls. CSK must maximize every over. 6. Back MS Dhoni to Deliver a Vintage Finish 6 / 20 Dhoni's experience in pressure games could be vital — either steadying a chase or launching late-overs assault. 7. Use Match-Ups Wisely 7 / 20 Play tactically with bowlers like Theekshana or Santner against GT's key right-handers. Exploit GT's weaknesses. 8. Play Fearless, High-Risk Cricket 8 / 20 To improve NRR drastically, CSK must take calculated risks — aggressive batting, attacking fields, and bold bowling changes. 9. Bring in Impact Sub Strategically 9 / 20 Use the Impact Player rule smartly — for instance, an extra batter while chasing or a death bowler while defending. 10. Stay Focused on NRR Throughout 10 / 20 Don't just aim to win — play with NRR in mind from ball one. Every over matters in this virtual playoff for 9th place. 11 / 20 12 / 20 13 / 20 14 / 20 15 / 20 16 / 20 17 / 20 18 / 20 19 / 20 20 / 20
