Shodha OTT Release: Here's when and where you can watch Lucia director Pawan Kumar's first web series in lead role
Director Pawan Kumar is known for acclaimed films like Lucia, U-Turn, and Dhoomam. Now, the Kannada filmmaker is all set to mark his first lead role in a web series titled Shodha. When and where to watch Shodha Shodha is slated to begin streaming on the OTT platform, ZEE5, from August 22, 2025. While the complete plot of the show has not yet been revealed, the series will be a suspense thriller, unveiling its trailer on August 13, 2025, at 7 PM. Sharing the update, the official social media handle of ZEE5 penned, 'Suspense thriller Shodha, Kannada web series trailer tomorrow at 7 PM. Shodha from August 22nd on Kannada ZEE5.' Interestingly, Shodha will be the second original Kannada web series commissioned by ZEE5 after the release of Ayyana Mane. Official announcement of Shodha: Shodha is a 6-episode-long web series written by Kyaabre fame Suhas Navarathna and directed by Orchestra, Mysuru's helmer, Sunil Mysooru. As Pawan Kumar plays the protagonist, the series has actors Siri Ravikumar, Arun Sagar, Shwetha Prasad, Anusha Ranganath, and more in key roles. The web series is musically crafted by Arjun Ramu with Rahul Roy serving as the Director of Photography (DOP). Who is Pawan Kumar? Pawan Kumar is an actor, director, and screenwriter who predominantly works in Kannada cinema. Starting his career as an actor in minor roles, and made his mark as a writer for the movie Manasaare. In 2011, he made his directorial debut with the Dignath-starrer black comedy Lifeu Ishtene. However, it was the 2013 psychological thriller Lucia that marked his breakthrough, receiving widespread acclaim. The film, which was Kannada cinema's first-ever crowdfunded project, featured the story of Nikki, a cinema hall usher who suffers from insomnia. After taking a special pill, he gets trapped between dream and reality. The movie is considered a pioneer in Kannada cinema's new wave and was remade in Tamil as Enakkul Oruvan in 2015. Later on, Pawan helmed projects like U-Turn and even made his debut in Malayalam cinema with Fahadh Faasil 's Dhoomam. Over the years, he has been part of several movies with supporting roles and even web series like Kudi Yedamaithe and Honeymoon.

The homegrown OTT giant recently announced that the six-episode series will premiere on August 22, with acclaimed filmmaker-actor Pawan Kumar in the lead. Shodha: Lucia-fame Pawan Kumar leads new 6-episode Kannada suspense thriller series
Z5 is set to get its second Kannada original web series this year; just over two months since the first, Ayyana Mane, came out. Called Shodha, this one is a 6-episode suspense thriller led by filmmaker-actor Pawan Kumar, best known as the man behind films like Lifeu Ishtene, Lucia, U-Turn and Dhoomam. An occasional actor, Shodha is Pawan's first as a leading man and in a web series. He was earlier seen in the Kannada series Honeymoon as well as his own Telugu show, Kudi Yedamaithe. He is joined by Siri Ravikumar, who has been a part of two Kannada series earlier – Kyaabre and By Mistake. Shodha headed to Z5 on August 22 Shodha: A thriller set in Coorg Directed by Sunil Mysooru, of the Kannada film Orchestra Mysuru, the show has been written by Suhas Navarathna, who is credited as the creator of Kyaabre and is on the writing team of The Family Man (Season 2 and 3). The streamer is yet to reveal further details about the show's cast and crew and the story, with a trailer expected before the show drops on the platform on August 22. Going by the posters of the lead cast that they have revealed, though, it appears that Shodha is a story set in a family in Coorg. The mystery revolves around what befalls the lead couple, Rohit and Meera, played by Pawan and Siri. Ayyana Mane was produced by Shruti Naidu and directed by actor-filmmaker Ramesh Indira, both of who have a long association with the network as daily soap makers, and had a relatively lesser-known cast on board, barring leading lady Kushee Ravi (of Dia fame). With Shodha, the streamer is stepping it up - Pawan has worked in Hindi (the web series Leila), Telugu (Kudi Yedamaithe) and Malayalam (Dhoomam with Fahadh Faasil), besides, of course, in his homeground Kannada. After years of having major streaming platforms overlook Kannada when it came to creating or acquiring content, especially with regard to web series, Z5 made baby steps in that direction, under RJ Pradeepa, the Head of Originals at the platform. This is not surprising, given that Pradeepa had launched a banner Sakkath Studio, and made a bunch of Kannada web shows earlier, some of which he co-produced with actor Shivarajkumar's daughter Niveditha. Pradeepa was the creative head on shows like Loose Connection, Hate U Romeo, Honeymoon and By Mistake, most of which were well received back in the day. Honeymoon and By Mistake are available to stream on OTTplay Premium, as also Ayyana Mane. Shodha will join in on August 22.

‘Shodha': Pawan Kumar to play the lead in ZEE5 original Kannada series
After the recently-released series Ayyana Mane, ZEE5 is set for the premiere of another Kannada original series. Titled Shodha, the series will star filmmaker Pawan Kumar (Lucia, U Turn) as the lead. Produced by Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj of KRG Studios, the series is directed by Sunil Mysuru of Orchestra Mysuru (2023) fame. Shodha will stream on ZEE5 from August 22, 2025. Pawan, who debuted as a director with the romantic comedy Lifeu Ishtene (2011), said, 'Acting in Shodha has been a completely new journey for me. Coming from writing and directing, stepping in front of the camera challenged me to explore emotions in a new way.' As an actor, Pawan was last seen in a cameo in Bachelor Party (2024), the Rakshit Shetty-produced comedy drama, featuring Diganth, Yogi and Achyuth Kumar. He played a full-fledged in the hit Gaalipata 2 (2022), directed by Yogaraj Bhat.
