Michael J. Fox Acting Return Set for Hit Apple TV Show

Back to the Future alum Michael J. Fox is officially coming out of his acting hiatus, after five years since his guest-starring appearance in CBS' legal drama The Good Fight. Fox has signed on to join the cast of Apple TV+ dramedy Shrinking for its third season. Further details about his character are still under wraps. However, it's expected to be connected to Harrison Ford's character Paul Rhoades, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. It's the same disease that Fox has been battling for more than 30 years. Fox's casting in Shrinking Season 3 reunites him with series co-creator Bill Lawrence, after previously working together in the hit ABC sitcom Spin City. For his leading performance in the political comedy series, Fox won three Golden Globe awards and one Emmy Award for Best Actor. The said show lasted for six seasons from 1996-2002. The series is written and executive produced by Segel, Brett Goldstein, and Bill Lawrence, with the latter serving as the showrunner. The series stars Jason Segel as Jimmy, Harrison Ford as Paul, Christa Miller as Liz, Jessica Williams as Gaby, Michael Urie as Brian, Luke Tennie as Sean, and Lukita Maxwell as Alice. Season 2 also featured Goldstein as a recurring guest-star. It is executive produced by Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer, with Warner Bros. Television as its producing studio. 'It follows a grieving therapist who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks,' reads the synopsis. 'Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people's lives . . . including his own.' (Source: Deadline) The post Michael J. Shrinking Season 3: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on May 7, 2025, 20:26 IST Apple TV+'s Shrinking has won over audiences with its heartfelt blend of comedy and drama, tackling themes of grief, forgiveness, and personal growth. Starring Jason Segel as therapist Jimmy Laird and Harrison Ford as his mentor Dr. Paul Rhoades, the series has been praised for its emotional depth and stellar performances. With Season 2 concluding in December 2024, fans are eagerly awaiting news about Shrinking Season 3. Here's everything we know so far about the release date, cast, plot, and more. Shrinking Season 3 Release Date Speculation While Apple TV+ hasn't officially announced a release date for Shrinking Season 3, based on previous production timelines, it's likely to premiere between late 2025 and early 2026. Filming began in February 2025, and if the show follows its usual schedule, an October 2025 release seems possible—though delays could push it to early 2026, especially if post-production takes longer or cast availability, like Harrison Ford's, becomes a factor. Shrinking Season 3 Expected Cast The core cast of Shrinking is expected to return for Season 3, continuing the stories of Jimmy and his circle of therapists, friends, and family. Here's a breakdown of expected cast members: Returning Cast Jason Segel as Jimmy Laird, the grieving therapist whose unconventional methods drive the show's narrative. Harrison Ford as Dr. Paul Rhoades, Jimmy's mentor dealing with Parkinson's disease. Jessica Williams as Gaby, a therapist and close friend of Jimmy. Lukita Maxwell as Alice, Jimmy's daughter navigating her mother's death. Michael Urie as Brian, Jimmy's best friend and a new parent. Luke Tennie as Sean, one of Jimmy's clients with a complex past. Christa Miller as Liz, Jimmy's neighbor and a supportive figure. Ted McGinley as Derek, Liz's husband. Brett Goldstein as Louis, the drunk driver responsible for Jimmy's wife's death. Co-creator Bill Lawrence has confirmed Goldstein will likely return for at least a few episodes to explore Louis's journey. Wendie Malick as Dr. Julie Baram, Paul's partner. Devin Kawaoka as Charlie, Brian's husband. Shrinking Season 3 Potential Plot Season 3 will revolve around moving forward, as confirmed by Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence. The new season is expected to explore Jimmy's trauma and personal growth, particularly in light of his father's introduction. Jeff Daniels's character may bring unresolved family dynamics to the forefront, offering new insights into Jimmy's past. The theme of 'moving forward' suggests Jimmy may take steps toward new relationships or professional stability, though Bill Lawrence has cautioned against resetting his grief arc entirely.
