Impressive Lee is expected to depart Flint Town United

Lee, on the back of a superb Cymru Premier campaign for the Silkmen last season, has attracted plenty of interest over the summer. Now Fowler, preparing for tomorrow's home league encounter against Haverfordwest County, says Lee is a step nearer to departing the Essity Stadium. Flint manager Fowler told S4C's Sgorio: 'We've accepted a bid. He's just got to pass his visa test. But, yeah, he'll be gone, I think. 'You know, it's a credit to Isaac. He's been outstanding last season and, you know, the teams that have come in for him are really high calibre teams. 'If he does go and if he's not here by next week, then we wish him well.' Former Wrexham captain Fowler, who himself enjoyed a terrific career in the Football League with a number of clubs, says this demonstrates the pathway that is available for talented youngsters at the club. He added: 'It's part of what we've got to do as a football club at Flint is, maybe, young players will be capable of going on to a higher level.' Flint announced back in July that Lee was the subject of plenty of interest, with formal offers being made by EFL clubs. Lee has since been in discussions with the interested parties. He played the entire 90 minutes as the Silkmen opened their campaign last weekend with a promising 1-1 draw at Maes Tegid away to Bala Town. Mohamed Mehasseb had the Lakesiders in the lead, but Ben Wynne volleyed home a leveller for Flint, who are ninth in the standings following the first set of fixtures. That's one position above tomorrow's visitors Haverfordwest, who started off with a 1-0 home reverse at the hands of Penybont. It's a novel feeling for The New Saints, who haven't yet made sure of their first triumph of the season. Craig Harrison's Saints were stunned 3-0 at home to Briton Ferry Llansawel on Sunday and they will be looking to put things right during tomorrow's late kick-off at last season's runners-up Penybont. Reflecting on that shock defeat, Harrison admitted: 'It's really disappointing. Everyone's disappointed. 'We've not been great today. Missed good opportunities at good times and then had three really sloppy goals against us. 'So, now we're all bitterly disappointed, you know, and we need to make sure we learn from that quite quickly.' Michael Wilde's Colwyn Bay will look to build on their promising start as they go to Barry tomorrow, while Caernarfon Town will have home advantage over Llanelli.

Friday night trip to Bala first up in the league for Flint

There's a Friday night showdown first up for the Silkmen as they pay a visit to Maes Tegid to tackle Bala Town. Flint boss Fowler said: 'Football, it's a wonderful game. It's like Gladiator syndrome for me. 'Thumbs up or thumbs down, that's how football is. 'A couple of victories and you're the best team in the world. A couple of defeats, and it's all doom and gloom. 'My job is to see through the fog. It's consistency, calmness and composure - that's the three Cs.' This will be Bala's first league encounter without Colin Caton in the manager's dug-out for more than two decades. Caton stepped down from his managerial role at the end of last season and Bala now have Steve Fisher and Ryan Valentine leading the squad. Fowler stressed: 'They're going to try and be their own men. They are going to take a bit of stuff of what Colin did off the ball and try and put one or two things in themselves.' Before the start of the season, Flint - who lost out 2-1 versus Cymru North Holywell Town in the Welsh League Cup last time out - are being written off in some quarters. 'It's brilliant for us,' admitted Fowler, who is hoping to get a couple of new signings over the line ahead of this evening's contest. 'Every year, it drives us on. There's motivation to drive on. 'The ultimate goal is to stay in the league. 'We want to be better than we were last season.' Isaac Lee will be added to the Flint squad for the league opener, while there could be a starting place for striker Elliott Reeves. There are two other matches scheduled for this evening to open the new top flight campaign. Llanelli Town, promoted from Cymru South last season, play host to Barry Town United and last season's runners-up Penybont head to Haverfordwest County. Tomorrow, Caernarfon Town head south for their match-up against Cardiff Met, while The New Saints begin the defence of their title on Sunday at home to Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Five places for Wrexham AFC fans to visit out in Sydney

Joe Faux, a summer addition made by the Silkmen - managed by former Reds' player Lee Fowler - is a Sydneysider and he has provided supporters Down Under with his list of five places to visit while in the city. Wrexham opened their pre-season tour with a match against Melbourne Victory on Saturday and they will next come up against Sydney FC on Tuesday. Reds' fans in Sydney looking for something to do during the build-up to the game have plenty of things they can do! Faux said: "I would definitely go to Circular Quay and walk around the opera house and harbour bridge. "You can do a ferry from there as well under the bridge or around to Manly, which is another nice area in the north shore." Continuing his tour, Faux said: "I would do the coastal walk from Coogee to Bondi and stop at each beach along there for a swim or to eat or drink, or whatever you feel like." Stop three on Faux's tour of his home city is somewhere for people to get a sense of Sydney. "Go to the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) in the middle of the city to shop or walk around and get a sense of the city." Fans are well covered when it comes to bar and restaurants too. "Darling Harbour and Barangaroo is also a nice spot. Lot of good bars and restaurants there for a night out and it's a nice walk. They have a zoo and aquarium there as well," added Faux. Concluding the tips, he added: "Last one is the botanic gardens, right next to the opera house. "Get great views from the harbour and again, it's a nice park to walk, few little animals and greenery in there as well." Faux, whose parents are going to the game to support the home club on Tuesday, also played locally for Cefn Druids and Connah's Quay Nomads. The 28-year-old tricky wide player started out with Bolton Wanderers U23s and he first entered the Welsh system in the summer of 2019.

Manager who Robbie Savage sacked at Macclesfield doesn't hold back about Forest Green move

Manager who Robbie Savage sacked at Macclesfield doesn't hold back about Forest Green move After Robbie Savage departed Macclesfield to join Forest Green Rovers, a manager the former Premier League star previously sacked has offered his clear thoughts on the move Robbie Savage was recently unveiled as the new manager of Forest Green Rovers, and posed for a picture with owner Dale Vince (Image: FGRFC_Official/X ) A former Macclesfield manager that was sacked by Robbie Savage believes the club will be in a "better position" now the ex-Wales captain has left. Savage, 50, was recently unveiled as the new manager of League Two side Forest Green Rovers. His move comes one year after he appointed himself as head coach of the Silkmen and four years after he became a board member of the re-launched side. ‌ Before he inserted himself into the dugout, Savage was a director of football at Macclesfield. He parted with predecessor Michael Clegg, before appointing himself as head coach. ‌ In his one and only season in charge, Macclesfield dominated the Northern Premier League, winning the title by 26 points and comfortably getting promoted into the National League North – the sixth tier of English football. Despite committing last month to remain with the Silkmen by extending his contract by two years, Savage ultimately resigned as head coach and director of football, but remained a part-owner of the club. After news of his exit was confirmed, Clegg tweeted his reaction. He wrote: " A massive day for Macc (Macclesfield). They are now in a better position than ever… this club will fly now.' Article continues below While replying to another fan on social media, Clegg reaffirmed his comment, writing: " My life since Macc has been amazing. From office staff to players to maintenance men. There will be a party tonight. Trust me." Clegg is now the manager of Atherton Collieries (Image: MacclesfieldFC/X ) Clegg was appointed as manager of Macclesfield in February 2024 and came within 90 minutes of promotion in the NPL Premier play-off final, but the Silkmen lost 2-1 to Marine. While various reports claimed Clegg was sacked by the club, he told the Bolton News the decision was a mutual one. ‌ Clegg, who is now the manager of Atherton Collieries, said: "Working at a club of that size it's a lot of phone calls from agents, there was always something, but I just always had a feeling that I wouldn't start the season, whether that was for me or from their side. I was right. "Everything dragged on longer than it should have done. I wasn't an angel, and I could have handled it better. I didn't need to leave the club. "A lot of people thought I got sacked but the club was keen for me to stay but the terms of my work there were different to the terms of my contract, and that is what I wasn't happy with. ‌ Savage guided Macclesfield to promotion to the National League North (Image: Andy Stenning/Daily Mirror ) "Absolutely nothing to do with money, anything but, more that the conditions they wanted me to work under were a no-go. I got on really well with the board, well, there was only one person I didn't get on with, but once they knew how torn that relationship was it proved impossible to carry on." Not long after Savage's exit, Macclesfield announced the appointment of John Rooney – the younger brother of Manchester United legend Wayne – as manager. Rooney had spent the last two years as a player of the club, but will now become the new head coach. Robbie Savage closing in on Macclesfield exit and could be replaced by Wayne Rooney's little-known brother

FORMER Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage is on the verge of becoming the new manager of Forest Green Rovers. Savage took over as head coach of Macclesfield last June, four years after becoming a board member of the re-launched club. Under his guidance, the Silkmen won the Northern Premier League Premier Division and secured promotion to the National League North. He subsequently penned a new two-year contract just last month. However, the 50-year-old is already set to move on. According to Sky Sports, Savage has agreed to become the new Forest Green manager. The Welshman was at the club on Monday to finalise a deal, with the official announcement expected on Tuesday. He replaces Steve Cotterill, who was dismissed on Thursday after failing to earn promotion from the National League. In preparation for his move, Savage has allegedly resigned from his role as Macclesfield's director of football. However, he remains a part-owner of the club. After he extended his managerial contract at Macclesfield last month, Savage explained: "It's a club that's close to my heart. "What myself and Rob and the volunteers, the staff have all achieved: three promotions in four years, an FA trophy semi-final, record-breaking season last year. What is up with you-' - Robbie Savage's harsh halftime dressing room team-talk that inspired Macclesfield to title win "You know interest from other clubs, as Rob has alluded to, I just wanted to show everybody my commitment to this football club. "It's my future. For the next couple of years, it's going to be here. It's a project. It's a journey. I can't leave that dressing room. "The lads have been spectacular, been amazing. Togetherness has been incredible. So I'm on that journey with them." John Rooney, the younger brother of Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney, is allegedly expected to take over as Macclesfield boss. Rooney has spent the last two years as a player for the club.
