Exact date Haribo's first ever Scottish store will open in Glasgow
Mark your calendars, as the opening date is just around the corner. Haribo teased Scottish fans earlier this year by confirming it would open its first store in the country. The confectionary giant announced plans to set up shop in Glasgow. We reported back in April how the beloved sweets giant was looking to open the shop in the city's Silverburn Shopping Centre, although, at the time, the date had not been confirmed. Now we can confirm that it is just weeks away, with Glasgow's Haribo store set to open its doors to Scots shoppers from 10am on Tuesday, September 9. While the opening will mark the first ever Haribo store in Scotland, it will mark the candy giant's 12th in the UK overall, as it operates in other locations including York, Pontefract, East Midlands and Swindon. To mark the special occasion, visitors will be invited to a special ribbon cutting ceremony led by the firm's iconic golden bear mascot, reports the Glasgow Times. A free goodie bag will also be provided to the first 75 customers who walk through the doors, while a free treat will be given to those who take a picture within the first hour in front of the in-store Goldbear and upload it to their socials, tagging #HARIBOSilverburn. The 2,500 store is set to take the title as 'the most Northern Haribo store in the world', offering a selection of experiences that will provide kids and grown ups alike with a sweet treat escape. It will be equipped with an exclusive 'Pick Your Mix' station with over 40 varieties of Haribo and Maoam treats to try, with choices including beloved staples such as Supermix, Giant Strawbs and Maoam Stripes. Customers will also be able to get the chance to try a range of diverse flavours from around the world such as Favoritos and Watermelon from Spain, Dragibus and Tagada from France and liquorice Schnecken from Germany. Rebecca Fox, head of retail, said: 'After months of anticipation, we are thrilled to be just weeks away from the opening of Haribo Silverburn. It's been a fantastic year for our expanding retail footprint, and our first Scottish store marks a significant milestone in Haribo UK's success story. "Preparations are well underway ahead of opening day to make sure all shoppers at Haribo Silverburn will experience moments of childlike happiness in a unique and special way at our new store.' David Pierotti, general manager at Silverburn, said: "The imminent opening of Haribo's first store in Scotland marks another special milestone for Silverburn as we continue to deliver a best-in-class retail experience by enhancing our offering and bringing globally recognised brands to our community. "Haribo's playful spirit and iconic treats complement that perfectly. With its exclusive 'Pick Your Mix' station and Scotland-inspired products, we know the store will be popular with our guests, bringing moments of childlike happiness and a sense of fun and joy for all ages." News of Haribo's first ever Scottish store comes just as we have reported on a few closures across the country, with multiple high street retailers permanently closing. Bargain retailer B&M has confirmed that its busy branch in Musselburgh, East Lothian will be shuttering for the final time on January 9, 2026, as the firm looks to focus on its newly revamped Fort Kinnaird store. Meanwhile, Poundland has also been making a few closures following its sale to the Gordon Brothers in April, with its Port Glasgow and Perth branches now closed, with its Irvine store set to close on September 6.
