Egypt's FM delivers Al-Sisi message to Niger's leader, seeks deeper security ties
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Niger's leader, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, in Niamey on Wednesday and delivered a written message from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi aimed at strengthening security and economic ties, Egypt's foreign ministry said. In a statement, the ministry said Abdelatty's visit came as part of a push to enhance cooperation, with the minister conveying Sisi's greetings and stressing that the trip was aimed at supporting Niger based on the historical ties between the two nations. Abdelatty highlighted the strategic importance of Niger's stability for Egypt's national security, describing the Sahel region as a 'natural extension of Egypt's strategic neighbourhood.' He said that growing terrorist threats and the spread of armed groups across the continent necessitated enhanced security cooperation and the exchange of expertise between Egypt and Niger. The talks also focused on expanding economic partnerships. The foreign minister noted that he was accompanied by a high-level delegation of 30 Egyptian business leaders to participate in the first Egyptian-Nigerien Business Forum. The forum aims to boost economic, trade, and investment cooperation, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, construction, and mining sectors. The statement said the discussions covered existing cooperation in combating terrorism and extremist ideology. Abdelatty highlighted the role of Cairo-based institutions, including Al-Azhar, which provides training for Nigerian imams and scholarships for students, as well as the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution and the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development (EAPD), which offer capacity-building programmes for Nigerian personnel. For his part, President Tchiani asked Abdelatty to convey his greetings and appreciation to President Sisi, expressing his country's gratitude for Egypt's support in facing its security and development challenges. He also praised Egypt's leading regional and international role and the support provided by Al-Azhar in religious education. The two officials also discussed regional issues, including developments in the Sahel and West Africa and the security challenges posed by the spread of terrorist organisations.

In a statement, the ministry said Abdelatty conveyed Sisi's greetings and stressed that the visit reflected Egypt's commitment to providing technical, logistical, and institutional support to Mali to help it achieve security and stability, given the country's pivotal role in its region. The foreign minister highlighted the recent Egyptian-Malian Business Forum, noting that he was accompanied by a high-level delegation of 30 Egyptian business leaders from both public and private sectors. He said this reflected Egypt's interest in pushing economic, trade, and investment ties with Mali into 'broader horizons,' particularly in infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, construction, energy, and mining. The talks also covered security cooperation, with Abdelatty stressing Egypt's capacity-building efforts. He noted that more than 100 Malian officials had benefited from Egyptian training programmes this year, including a workshop in Bamako on post-conflict reconstruction organised by the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding. Abdelatty also pointed to the key role of Cairo's Al-Azhar in countering extremist ideology through its religious envoys in Mali. The two officials also discussed regional issues, including the situation in the Sahel and Sahara region. For his part, Mali's President Goïta asked Abdelatty to convey his greetings and appreciation to President Sisi, expressing his country's gratitude for Egypt's leading role in supporting the African continent and its firm support for stability and development in Mali, the statement said.

Egypt's FM meets Burkina Faso leader on security, economic cooperation
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Burkina Faso leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, on Tuesday and delivered a written message from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi aimed at strengthening economic and security cooperation, the Egyptian foreign ministry said. In a statement, the ministry said Abdelatty conveyed Sisi's greetings and stressed that his visit, part of a multi-nation West Africa tour, was focused on boosting economic, investment, and trade ties. The foreign minister highlighted that he was accompanied by a high-level delegation of 30 Egyptian business leaders from public and private sectors, and affirmed the readiness of Egyptian companies to support development projects led by President Traoré, especially in construction, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and textiles. On the security front, Abdelatty discussed the challenges Burkina Faso faces from the spread of terrorist groups in the Lake Chad and Sahel regions. He offered Egypt's expertise in counter-terrorism, outlining its comprehensive approach which extends beyond security to include developmental, economic, and intellectual dimensions. Sisi, Greek PM Discuss Strategic Ties & Gaza Crisis

The call focused on the development of the strategic and distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Greece, according to the official Presidential spokesperson Mohamed El-Shenawy. Both leaders expressed their keenness to continue enhancing mechanisms of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment, energy, electricity interconnection, and efforts to combat irregular migration. The call also addressed current regional developments. Mitsotakis listened to President El-Sisi's perspective on means to de-escalate tensions in the region and resolve ongoing conflicts. In this context, Sisi reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, secure the release of hostages and detainees, and ensure the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid. Sisi also emphasized the need to begin the reconstruction of Gaza immediately following a ceasefire.
