Kazma appoints Croatian Tadić as new head coach
KUWAIT CITY, June 1: Kazma announced the appointment of Croatian coach Dragan Tadić as the new head coach of the first football team, replacing Bosnian manager Rosmir Cefko. Although the club had initially hoped to retain Cefko for the upcoming season, the Bosnian coach received several offers from Gulf clubs and paused contract renewal talks. He later departed for vacation in his home country and ultimately declined to continue with Kazma. Born in 1973, Tadić brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record. Most recently, he led Bahraini side Sitra to a strong season, securing third place in the league, reaching the final of the King's Cup (finishing as runners-up), and qualifying for the 2025 Gulf Champions League. Tadić's playing career included stints with Croatian clubs Rijeka, Novalja, Sibenik, Sesveta, and Astra before transitioning to coaching in 2011. He began his managerial journey with Croatian side Rijeka, followed by roles at Kavala and Slaven Belupo, with multiple returns to Rijeka over the years. He also had international coaching spells with Losinj (Austria) and Mesaimeer (Qatar), and most recently managed Al-Bukayriyah in Saudi Arabia. Kazma's decision to appoint Tadić comes amid a rebuilding phase following a challenging season, which saw the team exit early from local competitions and narrowly avoid relegation through the Zain Premier League playoffs, where they finished fourth. In terms of player contracts, the club has chosen to renew the deals of Jordanian winger Anas Al-Awadat and Beninese forward Samson Akiniola. They have also added two new players to the squad: Jordanian midfielder Ali Al-Azaizeh and Youssef Abu Al-Jazar. Negotiations are currently ongoing to sign an Algerian defender, which would complete the club's quota of foreign players.

Euro Motors signs solar partnership with Positive Zero
Euro Motors, the luxury automotive arm of the Alzayani Investments Group, has signed a renewable energy agreement with Positive Zero, a leading provider of decarbonisation services and on-site solar power solutions. The project in Sitra will entail the construction and development of a solar rooftop and carport, which upon completion is expected to have a capacity of 2.7MWp. This will generate 4.7 GWh of electricity per year, which is an equivalent amount of energy as the annual electricity used by 654 households. The 25-year agreement will result in major environmental benefits, including the annual reduction of more than 3,100 tons of greenhouse gases. For comparison, almost 52,000 trees would need to be planted and grown for 10 years to have a similar level of impact, a statement said. Positive Zero will handle end-to-end build, financing, operations and maintenance of the solar rooftop and carport, ensuring Euro Motors can fully benefit from the environmental and economic cost savings. Representatives present at the signing ceremony included Mohammed Abdulghaffar Hussain (Chairman, Positive Zero), David Auriau (CEO, Positive Zero), Laurent Longuet (CEO at Positive Zero's Distributed Generation business, SirajPower), Rashid Zayed Alzayani (Managing Director, Euro Motors), Richard Gough (GM, Euro Motors), Rashed Hamed Alzayani (Managing Director, Midal Solar), and Khalid (Chief Executive Officer, Midal Solar). Rashid Alzayani said: 'We're proud to launch this major new sustainability project with Positive Zero, which sets a new benchmark for Bahrain's automotive sector. As the industry itself changes, we too must find novel and intelligent ways to give back to the environment. We fully support the government's National Energy Strategy, as we reduce emissions and head towards net-zero by 2060.' David Auriau said: 'We are excited to collaborate with Euro Motors in decarbonizing their facilities. Our onsite solar infrastructure solutions will reduce Euro Motor's operational costs and carbon footprint, setting a new benchmark for sustainability in the automotive Industry. With the support of Alzayani Investments, we look forward to further exploring our decarbonisation-as-a-service offering across its businesses to accelerate the Group's and the Kingdom's clean energy transition.' Speaking on behalf of Midal Solar (a subsidiary of Midal Cables), the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project, Managing Director Rashed Hamed Alzayani commented: 'This initiative stands as a testament to the growing commitment of the Kingdom's companies to integrate sustainable practices into their core operations. We are honored to serve as the EPC partner for this landmark project, and we look forward to leveraging our technical expertise to deliver a cutting-edge Tier-1 solar energy solution that advances both environmental responsibility and long-term economic value. "With a proven track record of delivering over 7.2 MWp of solar projects across the Kingdom, Midal Solar continues to play a leading role in the transition to clean energy, helping to reduce thousands of tons of CO₂ emissions each year. Our involvement in this project reflects our dedication to driving innovation, delivering impact, and supporting the Kingdom's sustainability goals.' -

Cometh the King's Cup, Cometh Humaidan
A Night to Remember Khaldiya found themselves two goals down in the first half and reduced to ten men, but they would not give up, mounting an incredible comeback to clinch the win. Sitra, making their first-ever appearance in the final, stunned their opponents early. Brazilian Maicon Goulart converted a 27th-minute penalty after Khaldiya's Serbian defender Filip Ivanovic was sent off for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Just minutes later, Yaya Al Hadj Ousman doubled Sitra's lead with a slick assist from Abdulwasea Almatari. But Khaldiya refused to fold. 'We turned the result from 2-0 to 3-2,' Humaidan said. 'It's a nice feeling to achieve the win after hard work and a difficult scenario. This is a special game in my career — it has its importance and special value.' Serbian Jovan Marinkovic pulled one back just before the break, guiding home a rebound from Gleison Wilson. Then came Humaidan's crucial equalizer — a perfectly timed leap to meet Dhurgham Ismail's Abdullatif cross. The winning goal arrived in the 77th minute, with Mahdi Abduljabbar capitalizing on yet another assist from Ismail Abdullatif. Halftime Leadership Before the second-half fightback, an important moment occurred in the dressing room. Footage released by Khaldiya revealed Humaidan's words of motivation as he urged his teammates to remain focused and relaxed despite the tough circumstances. 'We only need one goal,' Humaidan told them. 'We have to stay calm, we need to believe in ourselves. It's not over yet.' Spoken like a true leader, Humaidan's words evidently played a significant role in steering Khaldiya through the adversity. Royal Presence, Royal Motivation Adding to the occasion was the presence of His Majesty King Hamad's representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, president of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. Their attendance and words after the match left a mark on the players. 'Of course, the presence of Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid is a very nice occasion,' Humaidan said. 'Especially when you win and listen to their words. It motivates me and all the players.' Khaldiya chairman Mahmood Janahi received the trophy on behalf of the club — now King's Cup winners for the second time in history, having first lifted it in the 2021–22 season. Eyes on the League Title While the celebrations were heartfelt, Humaidan was already thinking ahead. 'InshAllah, we will finish the season with all the championships,' he said. 'We still have a month to prepare for the Nasser bin Hamad League.' For Khaldiya, last weekend's win was a trophy. For Humaidan, it was legacy.
