Court sends 3 to custody for assault on policemen

New Delhi: A Delhi court, while remanding three men to 14 days of judicial custody, observed that the prosecution's account presented a disturbing picture of lawlessness and a brazen assault on police personnel in uniform. Judicial magistrate Nidhi Singh, on May 25, noted that the accused even assaulted police officers while being escorted to a police booth, reflecting sustained and repeated defiance of authority and use of violence against law enforcement. "The prosecution's narrative, as encapsulated in the FIR and reiterated by the IO, paints a disturbing picture of lawlessness and brazen assault on uniformed police personnel in the line of duty," the court said. Delhi Police had sought custody of Manish Nagar, Shashikant Sharma, and Tushar, who were arrested for allegedly assaulting four police officers. According to prosecution, on May 23 at Green Park Market, a Mahindra Thar carrying the accused obstructed a Skoda driven by a lone woman, wrongfully restraining her and triggering a traffic jam. When police personnel, including head constable Anuj Tomar and constable Mohan Lal, intervened and asked the accused to clear the road, they allegedly refused. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Roar into Style! In a contemptuous act, the police uniform of ASI Umesh was torn," the court noted. The prosecution sought custody citing potential witness influence, absconding co-accused, and the gravity of the offence as an attack on the state's law enforcement. The court noted that CCTV footage presented by the investigating officer (IO) prima facie supported the prosecution's claims. It also reviewed medico-legal case (MLC) reports. Head constable Tomar, present in court, had a visible fresh black eye and orbital injury, providing immediate and observable corroboration of the alleged assault.

Skoda Favorit reimagined for 21st Century with electric power

Before Skoda came under Volkswagen ownership, it created the Favorit – a people's car developed behind the Iron Curtain that could compete with the best from the west. The Skoda Favorit holds a special place in the history of of the Czech brand, so much so that the firm has asked its designers to create a modern interpretation of the eighties supermini. Reimagined with electric power, this design study purely shows us what a Favorit could look like in 2025; although there are no plans to put it into production. The original Favorit was penned by legendary design studio Bertone, and current designer Ljudmil Slavov approached the new car 'with reverence', according to Skoda. While Slavov introduced some of the company's current 'Modern Solid' design language on this creation, he purposefully left out the 'Tech-Deck Face' that's become an identifiable feature of current Skodas. 'I didn't want to use current design elements like the Tech-Deck Face' said Slavov. 'This is a tribute to the Favorit, so I studied its original details and tried to evolve and elevate them. Honestly, simplifying the already minimalistic shapes into Modern Solid form was very challenging.' Advertisement - Article continues below With everything digitally 3D-sketched on a tablet, the new Favorit has some interesting touches such as an asymmetrical badge (a 'Skoda' script, unlike the original's), a single door handle embedded into the body for both the front and rear, ultra-simplistic four-spoke wheels, illuminated 'Skoda' badging at the rear, and slim LED lights all round. The lack of a grille betrays the Favorit's electric powertrain. Slavov didn't stop at what Skoda calls the 'civilian' version of the Favorit. In a tribute to the car's competitive rallying history, Slavov also created a 'racing concept' with a more aggressive rear spoiler and diffuser with an integrated rain light, new decals inspired by the 1994 rally car, and even a roll cage. Astonishing moment drunk driver flips his car on its side before driving away - as he is jailed for 14 months

This is the shocking moment a drunk driver flies into the air after trying to cut in between two cars while crossing a 'sleeping policeman' speed bump. Danail Angelov, 20, sent a black Fiat 500 flying when he raced over the speed bump on a quiet residential street in the Blaenymaes area of Swansea, south Wales. Dramatic footage shows the car become airborne on April 22, as he collided with a silver Ford Puma which narrowly missed a pedestrian amidst the carnage. The Puma - with a mother and son onboard - was forced off the road and instead slammed into a garden wall. After ricocheting into a passing white Skoda driven by a taxi driver, the black motor plummeted onto its side before sliding across the road. When the vehicle landed back on its wheels, the 20-year-old drove away from the dramatic scene. Angelov was found by police a short time later in an 'agitated' state in a charity shop where he was being shouted at by members of the public. The 20-year-old who was at the wheel of his uncle's car - which he had taken without consent - was over the drink-drive limit at the time of the crash. A taxi driver, who was travelling in a white Skoda towards the Fiat 500, later attended hospital for the injuries he sustained during the crash. Angelov was jailed to 14 months at Swansea Crown Court after police said it was 'miraculous' that no-one was seriously hurt during the incident. Emily Bennett, prosecuting, told the court that at lunchtime on April 22 this year Angelov was driving a Fiat 500 car on Broughton Avenue, Swansea. She said he overtook the Ford Puma car in front of him just as a white Skoda taxi was coming in the opposite direction. She said Angelov drove between the two vehicle and clipped the Puma and was flipped onto two wheels and into the side of the taxi. Angelov of Swansea pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle-taking, failing to stop after a road accident, drink driving and driving without a license. He was jailed for 14 months at the city's Crown Court. Sgt Robert Richards of South Wales Police lambasted the young man for his 'dangerous actions'. 'Danail Angelov could have injured a number of people with his reckless and dangerous actions,' he said. 'The taxi driver, who was just going about his daily business, had to attend hospital to be inspected for whiplash and concussion. 'There was also a child pedestrian walking on the pavement at the time of the collision, and it is a miracle that one of the three vehicles didn't end up striking them and causing them serious injury. 'The fact that he then drove off from the scene is a sad indictment of his character. 'It is only right that he goes to prison.'

This is Skoda's reimagined, electrified Favorit concept

This is Skoda's reimagined, electrified Favorit concept Retro Skoda gets a 21st century makeover. And yep, there's a standard passenger version too Skip 8 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 8 Skoda's creative team has had a bit of extra time over the weekend, it seems, because they've just come up with this reimagination of its retro supermini, the Favorit. Unlike the - let's call it 'humble' original from the Eighties that marked a turning point for modern Skoda - this concept is a full-EV cloaked in the carmaker's 'Modern Solid' design language, and even gets a fast version. Advertisement - Page continues below It apparently took lead designer Ljudmil Slavov around 120 hours to create, and evolves the boxy original into a compact crossover that's not much bigger than its predecessor. There's no 'Tech Deck' face like in most modern Skodas; the headlights have curved signatures which sit within a translucent case. They'll even project customisable patterns if you so wish. Neat. Also neat: rear-hinged doors, just like in a Rolls-Royce Phantom! Neat wheels too. Slavov's also drafted up a spicier racing Favorit that gets lairier alloys, a rear wing, a more aggressive front splitter/rear diffuser setup, and some decals. The original Favorit was of course the first Skoda to have a transversely-mounted front engine and front-wheel-drive. It also featured styling from Bertone and, eventually, branched into a hatchback, estate and pick-up - the latter being replaced by the Felicia Fun. Yep, that bright yellow one.
