James Norton spotted filming huge new role for very first time

Happy Valley star James Norton's latest acting role has been unveiled and he's due to star alongside some big names, including Matt Smith James Norton has been pictured on the set of his latest acting project for the very first time, as he gets set to make his debut in hit series House of the Dragon. ‌ James, famed for starring in the likes of Happy Valley and Grantchester, was spotted filming scenes for the third season of the Game of Thrones spin-off alongside Matt Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen. ‌ James will be portraying Ormund Hightower, the head of the powerful House Hightower, and could be seen surrending his sword to Daemon in the snaps. It is unclear if Ormund is surrending or allying himself with Daemon in the scenes. ‌ In the rare glimpse into filming, the stars could be seen acting in the Surrey countryside. James was snapped in full costume, which feature his house's colours of greens and silvers. A release date for the third season of House of the Dragon is yet to be confirmed. After the premiere of the second series last year, it was confirmed that the show had been renewed. ‌ Filming commenced in March and it's currently predicted that the third series will land at some point in 2026. The season will consist of eight episodes, with the story of the Targaryen civil war continuing. Fans of the show were left disappointed with the end of the second season, with many even issuing complaints over how it concluded. House of the Dragon had been teasing big battle scenes between two Targaryen factions as Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) tried to force his sister Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) to fight as a dragonrider. Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) prepared for battle with the stark army marching south to support Rhaenyra's claim. ‌ At the time, fans took to social media to complain about the ending, as it did not live up to expectations. One person said: "Rhaena's been tracking this damn dragon all season and I don't get to see her claim it?! Ryan Condal when I catch you!" "I'm tired of things being put into motion. BE IN MOTION," another person fumed on X. ‌ House of the Dragon was created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal, and is a prequel to hit series Game of Thrones, which finished in 2019. It is the second series in George's A Song of Ice and Fire franchise. House of the Dragon is based on parts of George's 2018 book Fire & Blood, and begins around 100 years after the Seven Kingdoms are united by the Targaryen conquest. This is nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The show focuses on the events leading up to the decline of House Targaryen, a war known as the Dance of the Dragons. House of the Dragon is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV

How to get Netflix free for two years ahead of Stranger Things season 5 release

We have found a way to watch every Stranger Things episode and more for free. Stranger Things fans will currently be feeling a mixture of excitement and sorrow as the trailer for the final season of the spine tinglingly Netflix show has been released. With the last ever episodes of one of the streaming service's most watched series hitting our screens later this year, many of us will want to go back to start to fully prepare. As the countdown begins to the explosive finale, we have found a way that fans of the series will be able to watch all five seasons without having to fork out on a Netflix subscription. This means viewers can curl up on the couch and travel to 1980s Hawkins without having to worry about an extra monthly fee. Sky is currently offering its customers free access to Netflix when they purchase one of their TV package deals. The cheapest deal - Essential TV bundle - starts at £15 per month and gives shoppers access to 100 channels, plus Sky Atlantic, Netflix and Discovery+ in one simple subscription. With this deal, shoppers will have free access to popular shows such as Bridgerton, Stranger Things and Squid Games without having to pay extra on top of their deal. The Netflix Standard with Ads package is included in this 24 month deal, which would normally cost customers £5.99 a month through the streaming service. For added ease, Sky is also letting those who already have an existing subscription with Netflix to keep the same account, meaning they won't end up paying twice the amount, reports the Mirror. Additionally, shoppers have the option of upgrading the Netflix package, but this does come with an added cost. To bump up to Netflix Standard, customers will need to add £6 on to their monthly bill, meanwhile Premium viewers will need to pay £11. However, it should be noted that Sky usually increases its subscription prices every April, so shoppers should expect to pay more for their TV package this time next year. This year, Sky increased the prices by 6.2 per cent, which will most likely be a similar case in April 2026. Alternatively, Virgin Media is also throwing in a free Netflix subscription with some of its TV packages, however they are a bit more on the pricier side than Sky's deals. The lowest priced deal is on the Biggest Combo bundle, which is currently down from £78.99 a month to £64.99. This deal includes more than 200 TV channels, Sky Cinema, Sky Sports and 516Mbps broadband. As Stranger Things has had viewers on tenterhooks for almost a decade, Netflix is spacing out its highly anticipated final season to keep viewers on the edge of their seats one last time. Episodes one to four of season five will premiere on November 27, with volume two (episodes five to seven) coming out on Boxing Day. Loyal fans will then start 2026 with the grande finale, which is set to release on New Year's Day. Despite being more than three years on from the release of season four, Stranger Things still has a huge cult following as it is the third most-watched Netflix series of all time. The premise of the final season, which is set in autumn 1987, comes with a simple goal - to find and kill Vecna. However, the synopsis reads: "But he has vanished – his whereabouts and plans unknown." It continues: "Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. "As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming – and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone standing together, one last time." After the release of the trailer, many fans took to social media to express their excitement. One person wrote on X: "Oh my god, it looks so good. I can't wait." While another fan said: "Can't believe it's coming to end. Ready but not ready." However, some fans were a bit miffed about the extremely long wait between seasons, as one person wrote: "I'm going to watch this, but I'll never again watch a series that takes so long between seasons. It's ridiculous." On the flip side, a fourth fan took a more positive view: "I was wrong Stranger Things looks like it was worth the three year wait. I apologise." Among the returning cast is Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery and Maya Hawke. Joining them is Terminator star Linda Hamilton as Dr. Kay. To get Netflix for free for two years through Sky, click HERE. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Stranger Things fans can get Netflix free for two years as season 5 trailer drops

Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Stranger Things season five, and we've found a way to watch every episode with a free Netflix subscription Stranger Things fans have finally caught a glimpse at the show's final chapter as Netflix unveiled the first season five trailer. One of the streamer's most-watched series of all time returns later this year for what looks to be an explosive finale, and there's a way to watch every episode without paying for a Netflix subscription. That's because Sky gives its customers free Netflix access with its TV packages, which now start at £15 per month for the Essential TV bundle. As well as Stranger Things, Squid Game and Bridgerton, this also includes a Discovery+ subscription and more than 100 TV channels like Sky Atlantic at no extra cost. The deal comes on a 24-month term, with Netflix Standard with Ads included for the duration, which usually costs £5.99 when joining directly. Sky also lets those with an existing subscription keep the same account, so they don't pay twice. There's the option to upgrade to Netflix Standard or Premium for £6 or £11 respectively. Just remember that Sky usually raises its prices every April; this year, Sky introduced a 6.2% increase, so we could expect a similar change in April 2026. Virgin Media also throws in a free Netflix subscription with some of its own TV packages, but these are much more pricey than Sky. The lowest priced option is the £64.99 Biggest Combo bundle; usually £78.99, this provides more than 200 TV channels, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema and 516Mbps broadband. After almost a decade on screens, Stranger Things is returning for 'one last adventure'. Season five will premiere with volume one (episodes one to four) on November 27, followed by volume two (episodes five to seven) on Boxing Day, and the finale on New Year's Day. It marks the end of Netflix 's third most-watched series of all time and comes more than three years after season four, but if the latest footage is anything to go by, it'll be worth the wait. According to the official synopsis, season five takes place in the autumn of 1987, with the gang united by a single goal: to find and kill Vecna. 'But he has vanished – his whereabouts and plans unknown,' the synopsis reads. 'Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. 'As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming – and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone standing together, one last time.' Among the stars returning for the final season are Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery and Maya Hawke. Joining them is Terminator star Linda Hamilton as Dr. Kay. Fans have flocked to social media since the trailer dropped, with one excited fan writing on X: 'Oh my god, it looks so good. I can't wait.' Another said: 'Can't believe it's coming to end. Ready but not ready.' Some are frustrated by the long wait between seasons, as this fan said: 'I'm going to watch this, but I'll never again watch a series that takes so long between seasons. It's ridiculous.' While another said: 'I was wrong Stranger Things looks like it was worth the three year wait. I apologise.'

Sky urges Brits to act fast as 'lowest price' TV, Netflix and broadband sale ends today

Sky shoppers are being urged to act fast to avoid missing out on its latest round of TV and broadband deals. The provider recently brought back a popular TV and broadband bundle that's seen prices return to their 'lowest ever', with the Essential TV and Full Fibre 300 broadband bundle back to £35 per month and offering 300Mbps fibre broadband for the price of 150Mbps. However, Sky has now posted a warning on its website confirming the deal ends at 11.59pm today (June 18). Also coming to an end is the reduced Ultimate TV and Full Fibre 300 broadband bundle, which provides more than 35 extra channels for £39. Usually, Sky's Full Fibre 300 costs £29 per month without any TV access, but the latest deals also grant access to more than 100 channels including Sky Atlantic, Sky Sports News, and major free-to-air channels like BBC, ITV and Channel 4. The combined bundles also include free Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions, with the option to add Sky Cinema and Sky Sports for an additional £10 and £20 respectively. All of this is delivered via Sky Stream, the brand's new gadget that provides TV and streaming access through WiFi instead of a traditional satellite dish. Sky is now among the providers to roll out the new One Touch Switch scheme, which means customers don't have to contact their existing broadband provider to complete the switch as Sky will do the legwork, reports the Mirror. To secure the lower prices, customers are required to agree to a 24-month plan. Sky states that the cost of its TV and broadband plans 'may change' during this term, which traditionally includes an annual price increase in April common among many firms. Sky earlier this year announced a hike of 6.2% in its TV and broadband service charges, making it probable that a similar rise could occur in April 2026. Nonetheless, Sky distinguishes itself by allowing users to end their contracts early if a price rise is announced. Sky's latest deals are competing directly with Virgin's Bigger Combo bundle, offering more than 200 channels and 362Mbps fibre broadband for £34.99. While this is one penny less than Sky and roughly 60Mbps faster, it lacks access to Sky Atlantic or Netflix, which may be essential for some users. Competition also comes from BT and EE's Big Entertainment and Full Fibre 300 plan, which starts at £48.99 per month for the first six months before it jumps to the standard rate of £63.99, eventually costing more than £600 extra compared to Sky. In terms of user feedback, Sky customers have been sharing their positive experiences on Trustpilot. One five-star review says: " Sky Stream is a game changer. Switched a few weeks back and it's the best decision I've ever made. Installation takes care of itself, the remote even auto tunes itself to the TV. The best part is the ability to have a single charge for all your streaming subscriptions." One less enthusiastic member says: "I wasn't happy with the service provided by Sky, phoned up to change my deal and was passed around like a parcel. Eventually, I got to speak to someone who knew what they were doing. I am happy my issue was finally resolved but took a lot of work." While another happy customer says: "I've been with lots of companies to get my TV and internet, but the best service I have received out of them all is Sky. We did change to other companies because of the price but always go back to Sky."
