OAP couple at war with Scots council over garden in fresh battle over home

Last April, Des was given 28 days to remove 'all property and fencing'. We told how Des and Jeanette Connor were stunned to learn they do not own their cherished plot. Great-grandad Des, 80, of Cumbernauld, said: 'They came to demolish the fence and the patio, cut down the tree, take away the hut and sow down grass. "I explained I'd been here for 55 years.' The bemused workers then made a call and an official showed up to talk to Des. He said: 'It's quite disturbing.' Tensions first arose in May 2023 when former roofer Des refused contractors access to the back garden to fix a leak at his neighbours' property. Two months later North Lanarkshire Council told him it owned the patch of ground. A sheriff in Airdrie sided with the local authority. Last April Des was given 28 days to remove 'all property and fencing'. North Lanarkshire Council said: 'We noted the sheriff's ruling. Our officers and contractors attended the property but were denied entry. 'We can't comment further on ongoing legal matters.' I'm being forced to tear down my loft conversion - my neighbours call it a 'monstrosity' but I'm going to fight back It comes after we told how Lewis Capaldi is locked in a battle with his neighbours over plans for a new fence. The Someone You Loved singer, 28, hopes to beef up privacy with a 6ft-high wooden barrier around the grounds of his farmhouse, near Glasgow. But resident Adam Dunwoodie has objected to the star's planning application claiming an existing fence has already had a 'significant adverse impact' on his home life. He said he understands Lewis's 'desire for security and privacy' but argued the height of the proposed partition would be 'oppressive'.

He said he understands Lewis's 'desire for security and privacy' but argued the height of the proposed partition would be 'oppressive'. In a letter to the council he claimed the current fence was too tall and too near his own pad and should be lowered 'without delay'. Mr Dunwoodie writes: 'Our concerns have been mirrored by every visitor to our property. The fence, as currently located, has a significant adverse impact on our daily lives. "Whilst we fully understand the applicant's desire for security and privacy, there are several significant factors we strongly oppose. 'The oppressive height of the fence, the proximity of the fence, the standard of finish and appearance and the lack of maintenance access to ground between the properties. "Our hope would be that approval should be rejected and that work to relocate and alter the height should be completed without delay. "If required, we would hope to engage in constructive discussion with the applicant.' We told how Lewis snapped up the pad in 2020 after superstar pal Ed Sheeran scoured property listings on his behalf. After moving in he complained it smelled of cigarette smoke and dogs but has embarked on an upgrade. Lewis Capaldi reveals he reached 20st & is on anti-psychotic medication after Glastonbury breakdown The music star recently won permission to construct a recording studio and last year built a triple garage for his car collection. He has also added a swimming pool, changing rooms, spa and sauna and hopes to add a sun room with glass windows and slate roof. Mr Dunwoodie insisted he was not opposed to the upgrades. He told East Renfrewshire Council: 'We do not object to any other construction work that has proceeded or is due to proceed as part of this or other applications.' The local authority is due to rule on the fence in due course. The row comes after Lewis made a triumphant return to Glastonbury last month after struggling to finish his set at the festival in 2023. He took time off after the previous performance was cut short due to a Tourette's flare-up. Now he has returned to the charts with single Survive and will perform at Glasgow's OVO Hydro and Aberdeen's P&J Live as part of a UK arena tour in September.

Lewis Capaldi Is Ready to Release New EP After ‘Crying Quite a Lot' in Therapy for Two Years

Lewis Capaldi is feeling a little rusty as he eases into his first proper promotional cycle in two years. The musician appeared on Good Morning America to perform his comeback single 'Survive,' which follows an extended hiatus he began in 2023 to focus on his mental and physical health. Capaldi first premiered the record live at Glastonbury Festival. 'I haven't done this in two years, been on TV, so I'm a bit rusty, but it was good fun,' Capaldi said on GMA. 'It was nerve wracking. I did lots of nervous pees. We got it all out, and I feel elated. I'm really happy to be back and doing what I love to do and what they pay me to do.' Capaldi also performed his 2019 hit 'Someone You Loved' on the morning show. Lewis Capaldi Makes Triumphant Return With Emotional New Song 'Survive' The singer-songwriter joked that while 'Survive' has already reached the top of the singles chart in the U.K, it's 'doing nothing' in the U.S. If this song doesn't take, he has plans to release a few more in the coming months. 'I don't know about an album, but I'm doing an EP at some point this year, and then album maybe will follow next year,' Capaldi said. His next single will arrive 'later this summer, and then another song after that, and another song after that, until the day I die.' 'Survive' addressed Capaldi's mental health struggles in the wake of his battle with Tourette's syndrome. Following his 2023 Glastonbury performance, the singer announced that he would be taking a break from performing live 'for the foreseeable future,' explaining that he had difficulty performing due to tics. During his break, Capaldi spent his time doing 'lots of therapy,' he said. 'It's been nice talking a little bit myself, crying quite a lot the last two years. It's been good fun, and I've just been really locking in and putting it all together.' Lewis Capaldi tickets and how to get yours for Cardiff concert

Earlier this month, Scottish sensation Lewis Capaldi made a surprise comeback on a Glastonbury stage, marking his first public appearance since taking a hiatus from the spotlight. Now, he's back with a renewed vigour; announcing a new single, album, and a series of tour dates scheduled for September this year in the process. This autumn, the Someone You Loved singer will be hitting some massive venues. This list includes London's O2 Arena, Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena and Cardiff's Utilita Arena. However, tickets for the arena tour were snapped up in record time, selling out swiftly as fans rushed to secure their spots. Despite an impressive offering of over 300,000 tickets across 17 dates, supply couldn't meet the overwhelming demand. Fortunately, tickets have now surfaced on various online retail platforms, including viagogo and Seat Unique, among others. Here's the breakdown of what fans need to know now. Viagogo and resale tickets Sites such as viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that ticket conditions often prohibit resale after initial purchase. Those tickets may not be valid for admittance to gigs. Fans intending to buy tickets for live events through resale websites should check the ticket terms and conditions, to confirm whether resale is prohibited, before they buy. Ticket terms and conditions can be checked with the original seller, such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation. If resale is prohibited, tickets bought second-hand could be voided and admission to the event refused. How to buy Lewis Capaldi tickets now Tickets for Lewis Capaldi's concerts are currently up for grabs from various online outlets, including both official and resale platforms. The latter of which are fans' best bet to secure tickets at the drop of a hat. What's more, at present, resale platforms such as StubHub are offering tickets at approximately £150 each. Here are the links: For those keen on buying from official retailers, there are still options available there as well. While Ticketmaster may yet release more tickets (or put resale tickets on sale), none are available as of right now. With that said, it is worth keeping an eye on the ticketing giant's website for new additions to the website. Meanwhile, Seat Unique is stepping into the breach. This official retailer specialises in VIP and hospitality tickets, some of which come with complimentary food and drink, premium views, box seats, and much more. And, at the time of writing, they have plenty of tickets available right now, including some which come with early access to the venue, pre-gig entertainment, and access to VIP lounge areas. Here are the links for both: TICKETMASTER - Lewis Capaldi tickets. Lewis replied: "Billy Connolly would be up there for sure." He added: "There's a Scottish singer I love called Paolo Nutini. He's Scottish-Italian, much like myself. He's up there for me as a musician. I grew up listening to him." Theo then asked the singer if he's ever collaborated with Paolo, with Lewis revealing he's had a 'few beers' with him.
